Does anybody know of a decent armband for this phone? I had something that worked well for my Tilt2, but I don't think it will fit quite right for the Captivate...
Subbed for this
This looks pretty decent plus it has an extra pocket for keys, cards, condoms...you know, the necessities. http://www.thepocketsolution.com/Me...4&Category_Code=samsung_captivate_accessories
It seems like it might obstruct the headphone jack. It also seems like it barely fits as far as the height goes. Any other thoughts? (thanks for the link though!)
This one has access to the screen and headphone jack. Although there is nothing over the top to secure the phone.
And no I don't have it.

Ahhh,,,,, too late, I didn't see your post in time. It already shipped. This is the AB82 tune belt. Is that the model you had?
Anybody find any other options for these? I'm looking too.
I got the TuneBelt AB82 and you were right. It was to small. I called tunebelt and they happily replaced it for their new AB83. They say its the right size but I haven received it yet. I will report back when it arrives.
I got the AB83 and it fits well. The pouch is deeper than the phone which works well for me because i have my phone in a rubber case. I can push the buttons in the front easily but you have to feel around for the side buttons. The headphone jack isn't in the right spot so I cant put the phone in top down. I guess it will be just fine until something perfect comes out.
thanks for checking back in
anyone found anything better yet? It really kills me that it is hard to for runs with this thing
So this tune belt is working out really well. The top has a slit where you slide the phone in and I have the audio jack running to it there. The plastic window stays lifted from the phone a bit so taps and swipes register perfectly. I got use to the buttons on the sides and can hit them perfectly as well. I think even if something came out that was made specifically for the captivate I wouldn't buy it myself because the tune belt is just about perfect.
really is a good case, I got it after reading this topic a couple weeks ago. Phone fits in very well, even fits in with the Amzer case on it (its a bit more snug obviously). The holes not lining up isn't a big issue, I put it in the other way (with the headphone jack up at the entry point).
As for performance, I did 60 miles on my bike the day it came in. (I was really happy it came in!.. 10 mins before we left) For the most part I forgot it was even there, phone stayed dry from sweat and a brief rain shower. Screen was usable as there was nothing in front of it, and once I dialed in on where the side buttons were inside the case it was smooth sailing there too. Was a good investment.
I just ordered the AB83 after reading this thread. Thanks guys!
Yeah that AB83 looks good, plus they show a Fascinate in it in one of the pics on Amazon. I've been having to hold my phone while I run lol it's scary always hoping the sweat doesn't make me drop it.

I posted in the Vibrant and i9000 forums, but I got the larger version of the Tune Belt. It fits with my phone still inside it's TPU case which is what I was looking for. I think the smaller version would be too tight if you want to keep it in your case.
If you have above average sized biceps, you will need the extension as the band is one of the shorter ones I've seen, but luckily the extension is very cheap and works well.
Here are some pics.

Damn, too bad none of these accommodate a 18" arm I would much rather have my phone on the arm at the gym instead of in my pocket. Sometimes when bench pressing dumbbells I have to rest the weights on my quadriceps for a short time, but if I do that with the phone in my shorts pockets, then i run the risk of laying 70-90lbs on it

Short List of what my procedure was:
1. unscrew top screws
2. cut to fit Evo landscape
3. put plastic on for fitment before glue.
4. applied glue to plastic, then glued to the wheel.
Waited to dry.
So I am always looking for ways to be crafty, and after CM6 was released, I needed a way to play my NBA Jam, NBA Hangtime, Megaman, etc. with a wiimote.
I was at the dollar store with my gf (Dollar Tree), and saw this Wii Steering wheel for a buck. I said what the heck, i'll buy it and make a project out of it.
Well, about an hour and a half later, i have my customized GameGear-Like Mount(Evo Edition)...
The wheel comes in 2 halves, with 4 screws(one in every corner) keeping them together. I removed the top 2 screws and sliced off the top half just enough to fit my Evo landscape. Reason only the top half was modified is to have back support for the device.
The flat piece of black plastic is actually the back door to an old tv/dvd remote i had lying around, i just sliced off the prongs/clips to make it as flat as possible.
Now the actual bracket like mount which i had superglued to the black plastic cover is from IQ Mobile solutions. I had purchased the car mount from bestbuy and it came with a few extra parts like this one. (its advertised there for an ipod/iphone, but it is completely universal, just mount the small plastic square on the back of your phone)
The product looks like this:
I slide my evo from the top into the little bracket and this thing holds like a freakin CHAMP! I couldn't be happier (except i did a half-ass job on the cutting of the plastic lol but for a DOLLAR WHO CARES!)
I couldn't take a pic while holding 2 handed, had to use a mirror lol
This is the product package I bought from Dollar Tree:
So lemme know what you guys think. Its really a simple procedure, i just can't believe it worked so well first shot!
Please don't post about the thing i had to stick on the back of my phone, if you dont like it, i'm sure you can figure a way to make something else work. I bought it as a car mount, made the sacrifice and it is Saweet! The extra pieces from the kit enabling me to make this was a blessing
Nicely done man, very creative. I like it a lot. I love sourcing stuff at the dollar store too! You can find a lot of useful stuff there. It looks like you have some kind of skin on the back of the phone? You said not to post about sticking something on the back, so I'm going to resist . Since you have the phone mounted to the center of the wheel, you can cut off the top two parts right? Or are they weight bearing?
Hell yeah man, that is awesome, great job on that, looks sick.

Thanks man, and I do have the Zagg invisible shield on the entire phone, i highly recommend it cuz lets face it, the evo is the first of MANY sick phones to come, so when a new one comes out, all i gotta do is peal off the invisible shield and the phone looks brand spankin new!
Its pretty much solid, but having the support on the sides def helps if the game is intense and i get to shaking it a lil lol I'm pretty sure it will support it tho.
My original idea a few weeks back was this and to make a mount on top:
But i hate waiting for shipments :\ but when i saw this at the dollar store, i bit for sure. Oh to think, I go for paper towels and come out with a gamegear-like project

I've been searching for an armband for my Vibrant for awhile and decided to get the Tune Belt Armband.
This is the one I got:
https://www.tunebelt.com/domino/tunebelt/shop.nsf/parts/3FBB580A8B45C3DA852577AD00660D14
So far it's a very good armband except in one area. The length of the band itself is kind of short. If you have decent sized biceps, I highly recommend getting the extension. It only costs a few dollars more so it's well worth the investment in case your arm is too big. This should fit just fine on most women.
The armband fits with my Vibrant still inside it's case which is exactly what I was looking for.
Here are some pics.

What type of case do you have? I have a hard, clear snap on case so I'm not sure if it will fit. I used a TuneBelt with my MyTouch 3g and it also had a clear snap on case. It was snug, but without the case it fit fine. I want to make sure I don't run into the same problem here, as I'm looking to get a new tunebelt for my new Vibrant. Thanks for the info!
Hey OP, what kind of case do you have on your phone and does it affect the fit with the Tuneband? I'd hate to have to remove my hard case everytime I want to use the phone in the tunebelt.
Thanks!
Went ahead and ordered the AB83. We'll see how it fits.
Please post results. Seems the OP disappeared.

Ok, so I got the AB83. I use a hard, clear case on the phone. With the case on, it's a bit snug at first, but with repeated use the tuneband loosens up just enough that it fits perfectly. I'm able to use the touchscreen with no problems. If I take it out of the clear case and insert into the tuneband, it fits perfectly. Either way it's a win. I recommend it!

Sorry guys. I'm still here. Forgot to check this thread more often.
The case I use is the Argyle TPU type case like the one you can get from Amzer. It's a pretty thin case, so it fits in the armband pretty well. It's a little tight getting to slide into the opening, but once you have it in there 1/4 of the way or so, it's not that hard to push it down.
If I take off the case, it slides in pretty easily.
The top part of the arm band is just a flap, so plugging in headphones is not an issue.
I'll take another picture later tonight with my headphones plugged in and how you can manage your cable.

I concur with everything you just said. Opening is a bit snug, but once you get the tip in, it's smooth sailing from there! (Hmmm......)
Clever.....
It does look like it completely cover the device, but there is space to get your headphones in there. The only issue I ever feel like I have with this acc. is the fact that the plastic sticks to the face of the device. otherwise, perfect for the job!
I use otterbox case with tune belt and its keeps plastic from sticking works perfect.

this is great i was wondering long ago if there was one for non-iphone users
My Breffo SpiderPodium arrived today. For those who don't know, it's a flexible 8-legged (hence the name) phone holder which I intended for use in the car. You can pick them up on Amazon or eBay for about £8 for the white or £12 for the black.
I wanted one for use in the car, and since I have a silicone skin for my SGS2 I knew a "proper" fitted mount wouldn't work.
I have to say, I'm quite impressed. It was very easy to bend the legs in such a way that they'd catch on the vent fins, and when the phone's in it's held pretty securely - there's no noticeable wobble or rattle, and I never feel worried that it will come loose. Most importantly it's nice and easy to get the phone in and out - I was worried that I'd have to wrap and unwrap the legs each and every time. Luckily with the leg configuration I've made it's easy enough to pop it in and out without disturbing them.
I think I'm going to pick up another one for use in the office and out and about . . . this one is definitely staying in the car!

Which seller did you use for the Black? Can only see whites on Amazon or eBay.
I got mine from magic-toast-direct, but he seems to be out of stock
You can buy from Breffo themselves at http://www.breffo.com/buy.html (£17.74 including shipping)
Alternatively there's this seller or this seller selling black ones on eBay for £15.95 (search for spider podium with a space rather than all one word).
Can also find clickshop at £13.95, never used them before but a reasonable price . . . .
Ended up ordering the one from Amazon but for delivery to home, a mate did it at the same time but had it sent to work. Turned out it was the black version for him.
Bargain for £8.95
I've got this black one from Amazon for £8.95 and I am amazed with it - such a great idea! Its so easy to mold to any shape for any use you desire, its amazingly grippy and looks very cool - like some organic Giger-esque addition to your phone
For a black one, that's a steal!
A mate suggested getting a white one and seeing how well it would take paint or markers . . .
Wanted one too badly and ordered a white one, I know black will look better, but white will do fine! Might provide a nice contrast ;D
I stupidly bought it off eBay in the heat of the moment, ended up paying £13 D:
It looks like it'll be useful though
Here's mine (no photo with phone in as I was using the phone as the camera)
Spiderpodium by artesea, on Flickr
can any users tell me whether this is suitable for use as a tripod too?
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be - it's rigid enough to not bend out of shape when the phone's held in it.
It is! Its actually one of the reasons I've bought one - easy to hook up on almost anything by adjusting the phone/surface arm distribution & shape
Is surfase of this holder soft like rubber or something? Will it scratch unprotected phone? Thanks for answers!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Its fairly thick grippy rubber shell. I don't think it could scratch the phone, because its not hard and it lacks any kind of sharp edges.
It's soft-touch rubber, I can't see how it would scratch anything. Feels very similar to the back of the Desire if you ever held one.
Is it fixed well enough to the ventilation not to fall when I drive on a bumpy road ? That's my main question about this kind of product :/

Not really fixed well to the ventilation, more wedged through the gaps and gripped on to the dash. Had no problems driving from Lincoln to London and if you've seen the road around here we've not had any repairs since the bad winter.

Mine is well solid - two of the top legs have got their "feet" (about 1cm) bent back almost 180 degrees to form two hooks - I pushed them through the vents past the vent edges, then pulled them back so they're hooked on. It'd be pretty firm with that, but then two of the bottom legs serve to push it up slightly.
If you're driving a jeep properly offroad then you *might* have a problem, but just for potholes and bumpy roads I'd be amazed if it came loose.
Found this thread last week while figuring out what sort of a stand to get. I basically wanted something versatile that I could use mainly to take HDR pictures [requires either a VERY steady hand, or a stand of some description]. I got mine last week and took a bunch of photos over the weekend.
Aside from the awkwardness of bending it into shape at the beginning, it works well enough for my amateur-ish purposes. Recommended if you can pick it up cheaply and just want something to mess around with.
Well guys and gals, the HC case is finally available for the Atrix! Mine just came in the mail today!

I'm going to write up a quick first impressions review for it and post it up here in a bit.
Review is here.
nice job. on the review you might want to compare the prices. was the price of the HC worth it?
I paid $52 with shipping, so it was about $5 more than I got the Defender.
I might end up getting this I'm on my second defender case the first interior shell cracked in one corner and the gel is not standing up to the heat in South Florida, left it in the car a few times and the gel fits oddly now. The Ballistics don't have the gel form fitting exterior so I doubt I'll have a problem with it.
I searched on Google Shopping and eBay and I found this case for $33.50 with regular expedited shipping. It actually arrived at my house in NJ from Texas a day earlier than it was expected.
At first, I was surprised at how much bigger it was than I thought it was going to be, but then I tried it out for a few days and I got use to it. If you want "maximum" protection, I would recommend buying this case. I use the whole setup with both the rubberized and the hard case. I haven't dropped it that many times and when I have it was usually on carpeted floors and occasionally from small heights so I really haven't tested out its durability and whatnot, but it doesn't look like it's going to break or anything. The plugs for the headphone jack as well as for the charging/HDMI ports are an awesome feature for keeping dust and water drops away from the actual phone. The only part I can find that is exposed is that fingerprint/lock button. I understand why, although I don't use the fingerprint feature, so it's not too bad.
It's pretty light and the supplied swivel clip is greatly appreciated, too. It is bulky enough to make it harder to get in and out of pockets so the clip works very nicely, especially since you put the screen facing in to provide as much protection as possible. I have tested how it fits and everything and it stays in the clip even when moving around, jumping, jogging, and shaking so I would say it works pretty well. There's a screen protector on the front part of the hard case, but it's almost as sensitive as the actual phone's screen so you don't have to press much harder than normal. The one other thing I didn't really like was that the HC's bottom was too close to the phone's touch buttons along the bottom, making it slightly harder to press them sometimes. If there was slightly more space between the two as well as a little less bulk, this would be the perfect case for protection and functionality.
Still, a great buy, I must say so myself. I definitely recommend it.
So after a week of having this on my phone the only thing that I could see someone not liking is the volume keys are harder to press. You really got to squeeze on them to get a press to register, but other than that, I really like this case. I might take the phone out and run a file on the bottom edge of the top of the finger print sensor hole. It sticks out a tad, and it kinda sharp. It's only a problem for me when the phone is in my dash mount and not in any car mode. When I swipe my finger "backwards" from the normal top of the phone to the bottom, the edge catches my finger and causes misreads. I think rounding it off a bit will help with that.
I have this case, and i must say - even though its bulky, it feels great in my hands. Its not as annoying as the otterbox defender is/was. it feels much more solid and well built. Also - its certified military grade protection. I got the black/black case in the mail about a week and a half ago - havent taken it off since i put it on! The holster is much better than the Otterbox defender also!
i originally had the shell gel before buying the hardcore. all i can say is this case is awesome!
although i kinda wished the plastic inner case had the rubber port covers as well though, since the whole rubber case makes the thing too chunky for my liking.
one other thing i didnt like is the included screen protector. first, i didnt realise it was attached to the case, lol. but my main issue with it is that it kinda messes with the display a bit. not too sure how to describe it, but it has the random colour pixels that you'd normally see if you had water on your screen. im sure after a week of wearing it in, this should go away.
the thing that annoyed me the most was that for like 3 months, ballistic had a black and red one listed on their website. now all of a sudden, it doesnt exist.
Hey guys and gals,
Thought I would share my Otterbox belt clip hack with you. I wanted the otterbox case, but not the belt clip. And since the Verizon Galaxy Nexus doesn't have the 3-pin car mount yet I figured a way to make that stupid beltclip into something usefull.
Items needed:
1.) Galaxy Nexus
2.) Otterbox Galaxy Nexus case with Belt Clip
3.) Razorblade
4.) Propane torch or lighter
5.) File
6.) Old Spherical joint off cheep old car mount (I used one from an old Ipod mount)
7.) JB Weld or similar 2part epoxy
8.) 1/8" Headphone jack cable
9.) USB-to-microUSB cable with Right Angle End
10.) Time
Break or cut 1/2 of the clip off the back of the belt clip. Sand and use hot razor to smooth as necessary. Take an old spherical joint and JB weld to remaining half of belt clip (sand where bond will take place to promote adhesion). Use hot knife to open up bottom of belt clip to allow headphone jack and microUSB to be fully accessed for charging and audio out. File and sand as necessary. Mount to car, Run Cables, Enjoy. It is nice because the belt clip already had a detented rotation so you can rotate the phone to portrait or landscape easily.

That is amazing.
in a quick suggestion though, run to wallgreens and buy a nail file. It should have like 4 areas of different grit on it. (remove, cant remember, smooth, shine) (could be numbered as well) i know its weird walking in the makeup and nail area but with that nail file you could really make that bottom cutout look non existent. that is literally the only problem i see with that setup. How is the removal? Quick snap or a double hander?
Snap in and out is great. I know what you mean about the file marks, but my car is worth less than the retail price of my phone so I kinda let it go. I might use the nail file idea, and then flat black paint the JB Weld so it looks cleaner. I am just happy it works so well.
Here is a video of the rotation: http://youtu.be/F4hitx81UVg
Is that a honda? Kinda looking like the interior of mine. and this is pretty sick, i have an otterbox case, and it came with the holster. Im definitely in the need of a cardock but im not spending $50 on the piece of plastic they are selling. This is genius. im really thinking about it. Maybe tomorrow ill examine the potential of this. Well see.

I have a 1996 civic with 195k. Havent quite passed up 200 yet, getting their. And i knew it was a honda becuase that looks like mine but switched around a little bit. buttons look the same though. At least mine has a computer for quick emissions testing. yours must be a fun one to take in.
Try Velcro Brand Removable Picture Hanger with the unidirectional hooks (search Amazon for exactly that term). Should also be available at Walmart or Lowes.
Loop on the back of the phone, hook upside down somewhere on your car dash or radio. I'll take pictures of my setup later. Works like a charm. Slide the phone upwards to disengage.
nevermind...
I thought of this same idea. I found this thread and I am glad to see that you also had to file the bottom and it still worked. I would like to use my audio jack as well
edit: I considered getting a bluetooth wireless receiver but why should I? Every single one on amazon around $20 says it disconnects after pausing or something like that. I'm just gonna use my dremel on that pesky extra plastic blocking the aux port.
I just finished and it turned out quite nicely. pics soon
Taken with my trusty old DROID INCREDIBLE! (Running ICS )
I shook it up a little bit, it is still really really sturdy and you have to lift up that tab if you want the phone to pop out.
I was uncomfortable fully destroying the belt clipon so I just super glued part of my mount to the back so I can easily use the belt buckle again if I want. I don't think the plastic I took off really changes the performance much. I probably will never use the belt buckle... lol -.-
I will have pics of it mounted tomorrow.
