i just debranded my boss phone to 2.1 and checked for the update and said none availible! maybe an issue witht the update server
dont think location makes a difference as your phone will still have the european code in it so should get the update regardless of location
I got the 2.2 update on mine and i am using a WWE (World Wide English) ROM, not a European ROM.
last night when i checked for update, there was froyo. but i did not update due to battery level. today it says no update, maybe a problem with server or it has been withdrawn
I´m from Portugal and I have the same problem. I make these steps:
1 - Upgrade Desire using a original RUU you can found here. I use RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe and without sim card inserted.
2 - After you go to About And search for updates again.
Work for me. Try If you want be careful. I'm not responsible for anything...LOL. Like I said work for me...
I have a Sim Free, Unbranded Desire on T-Mobile network, no OTA update yet, searching manually returns the standard "your phone is up to date" message, is it just a staggered rollout, haven't seen anyone else on here complaining about this issue?
Cheers,
P.
edit: I mean to Froyo...!
What firmware version are you running? I saw a post somewhere where someone thought they had an unbranded handset, only to have Vodafone firmware installed, meaning they wouldn't get the update...
If you go to this link you should be able to match it up to which firmware you have... Basically, you should hopefully have something like x.xx.405.x (where 405 is denominates that it's an unbranded firmware, with 110 being T'Mo, and 161 being Voda etc):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
Current Software is: 1.21.405.2
Build: CL174215 release-keys
I haven´t got the update either but I am using the froyo rom with sense tha AdamG made available So I may have to go back to 2.1 first. Mine is unbranded bought it in holland and I am using it in Brazil
I'm on T mob, with an unbranded Desire bought from mobile something or other. Updated Sunday no problems. Firmware before was 405 IIRC.
even I!
1)I debranded this moring my htc desire brand fastweb (ITA) and i install RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
2)then i check the update but not ota at this moment?
Why? Can you help me?

Hmmm, so not just me exactly, but Its not all T-Mobile or anything, v.odd, wonder why some would update and not others?
I guess I just keep waiting
P.
My provider is "3". I already contacted HTC. No answer yet.
I have just debranded my HTC Desire from a VF firmware (not the latest one with bloatware) to a stock ROM (1.21.405.2) using the goldcard method, etc. I currently have the goldcard in.
I am on T-Mobile myself.
I checked for updates, on WiFi and 3G... and nothing?!
Edit: I had no error messages using the goldcard, it all worked smoothly.
I received my update yesterday and I'm on t-mobile.
But it turns out my phone is on the virgin rom, the web supplier I got it from ran out of t-mobile branded ones....
Ok so I recieved an interesting reply from HTC:
Dear Thomas, Thank you for your email. In regards to the 2.2 upgrade for Desire, it will come as a system message over the air. It's not possible to get it through the System software updates screen, you might have to wait for the message to come automatically. We released the 2.2 but it won't come to all devices at the same time, as it comes in different batches. Kind Regards,

Good news!
I hope!
I'd like to have froyo as soon as possible!!
im now seriously thinking of holding back on 2.2 untill its fixed all these problems..currently desire 2.1 and love it so like they say if it aint broken dont fix it..
I'm unbranded T-Mobile and there was an update available yesterday when I checked, that I didn't install (want to keep the possibility of rooting), but today I checked and it's gone, so it looks like they pulled it for now.
I checked yesterday too (and Monday, and Sunday, and Saturday) via 3G and WiFi each day, always same message for me, i.e. I've not been offered an update that I've turned down.
P.
Well, I never received a message. I checked for updates, it was there, I did it. Sunday this was.
Still getting the "up to date" message
Got a response from HTC now...
"Thank you for your query regarding the upgrade for the desire. Please note that this update is being send out from the htc server to htc unbranded devices continuously. Therefore we cannot specify the exact date for each device. Please be patient on this issue as it is not possible to upgrade them all at the same time."
grrrr... I'm not good at patience!
P.
I bet it will be late September before we at T-mobile see froyo. That might be no bad thing as they might update some of the issues by then
Hi All,
I have recently purchased a second handed HTC Desire from a friend. It is a Malaysian Warranty set. However, when i have purchased it, it is already rooted.
I tried to unroot the phone yesterday by running the HTC Asia RUU file but appparently, it failed. Either with Error 131 or Error 140. Tried it with the other HTC WWE RUU file and failed as well.
Then, after some researching, apparently some said i need a goldcard to RUU. I created a goldcard, but the HTC Asia RUU (for Eclair) still fail. But this time, the RUU for WWE (for Eclair) is working and i finally unrooted the phone. However, strange enough, by using the WWE version, my firmware became a EU version, instead of Asia version. I tried running OTA to upgrade to Froyo, and after some problems, it finally updated and again, its EU Froyo instead of Asia FroYo.
I am very sure that this is original Asian Set as i have checked with the Official Distributor here and its stated to be warrantied by them. Thus, why would only EU RUU worked on this? Had i done anything wrong? How can i make it to go back to Asia RUU instead?
Thank you so much for any help. I am already out of idea on what i should do.
What HBOOT are you on and what S/W version?
Hi EddyOS,
My HBOOT is 0.80 when i wanted to unroot. In regards to the S/W version, i personally have no idea. Now, i am on FroYo EU WWE which is HBOOT 0.92 but i was hoping for it to go back to FroYo Asia WWE unrooted. Thanks.
Right, bit of work required here. And it WILL reset the phone...Having said that, try this first...
Download this RUU:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed.exe
And just try and flash that. If it works, happy days and you're on stock Asia FroYo.
If it doesn't work, get your gold card in your phone and follow this guide. Once complete, try the Asia RUU again:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Hi EddyOS,
You are indeed a life saver Finally solve my problem here after using the RUU file. All i did was create a GoldCard, and RUU using the FroYo Asia WWE file posted above. Thank you so much for your help.
The gold card should've only been needed to go from the Asia ROM to any other ROM. If your ROM was the WWE one out the box then you'll need the gold card for all future OTA updates so just make your day to day sd card a gold card and be done with it
Well, should i use a gold card, if i accidentally shifted from Asia to WWE and wanted to shift back to Asia? I believe mine is Asian version right out of the box. Since mine is unbranded version and all i wanted to do is RUU back to original, i should not need the GoldCard right?
Its only confusing for me because when i try to unroot back to original using the Asia RUU, its giving me all sorts of Error 140 / Error 131 but no problem when i use a gold card for the WWE version.

Did you make a goldcard properly originally? A gold card will let you flash any stock RUU. The Asia one would have worked if it definitely was an unbranded one from Malaysia. As you said, it was second hand, so don't believe it wasn't debranded by someone else before that.

Hi geejayoh,
As far as goldcard being made previously, that was something that i am not too sure off. I heard from the previous owner that he had rooted the phone, via the GoldCard method (he said, when he root, unrevoked wasn't available yet). Thus, i am wondering whether there is any effect over by the goldcard.
When i try to unroot for the first time, no goldcard is present cause i have removed the SD card itself. I tried it with the RUU Asia Eclair but it failed. Same goes to RUU WWE Eclair. After that, i decide to surf around locating a way to create a goldcard, and try to unroot again. I followed all of the instruction on creating a gold card, downloaded a program that will generate an img file and created it. Used multiple SD cards as well to test all the goldcards and they are all giving the same sign. And again, RUU Asia Eclair failed, even with a gold card. Error generated was either Error 131 or Error 140 (not too sure which one). And when i finally use the RUU WWE Eclair, it was unrooted.
I am 100% sure that this is an unbranded one from Malaysia as i have checked with SIS malaysia (which is the distributor for HTC here in Malaysia) and they have confirmed that my set is under their warranty. So, definitely wasn't debranded. It was just weird to me that the RUU Eclair Asia wasn't working. However, the RUU FroYo Asia was working fine though as guided by EddyOS
Mmm, interesting. Glad you fixed it though!
While we're on the case, can you tell me if the Asia WWE Froyo ROM includes a chinese handwriting IME from HTC?
I've downloaded the rom, but there is no point in installing unless it has the handwriting IME that I want
If you mean whether it can support chinese and perform hand-writting in chinese, then yes. I have checked with 2 Desires (one that is unrooted - and OTAed to Asia FroYo, and another is via the Asia WWE FroYo RUU) and both have hand-writting features. You need to select the handwritting feature via the International Keyboard settings though
Amazing, that's great. I'll be flashing the asia froyo now then!
Hello people.
An android newbie here. I have beem doing quite a bit of reading on this forum, but this is my first time posting. I have looked around all over the place and I have reached a point where I am confused of how to go about the task I am wanting to accomplish. Here goes:
I bought a desire HD on vodafone last week, it had 1.75.161.2 firmware on it. I stumbled across these forums and decided to flash a custom ROM (Leedroid). I was successful a this task, but now i have a charging problem with my phone. If i understand correctly, my warranty is void with a custom ROM, so I would like to know how i could get back to my stock Vodafone ROM (1.75.161.2), also with the branded vodafone logo that used to appear before i flashed to custom ROM.
Again, sorry if there is stuff about this posted elsewhere, I have been reading, but i am really confused.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
You have to run a RUU if you want to return to stock.
I don't have any links to official RUUs atm, but check the threads in the android developement section. There should be one with vodafone branding

I have installed a Vodafone branded RUU, I have also found a Vodafone backup which I have tried. I get the branding back, but I cannot get any updates OTA. I'm now on 1.39.161.1. There clearly is a 1.75 update on Vodafone, I used to be on it and my friends are on it.
Any help for me to receive these OTA updates?
Regards
I think 1.75 was pulled by HTC at the same time as the 1.72 update, due to some major bugs.

Vodafone website states 1.75 is the latest. Last week I had 1.75 I don't think 1.75 was pulled. 1.72 was definitely pulled.

Anothe DHD noob question here. I bought a DHD off eBay and I know it is locked to Vodafone, but I'm not sure if it's branded. If I don't get the Vodafone logo when I switch it on does that mean it's not branded?
Check the firmwareversion. If it's like 1.32.405.3 it's unbranded. The important part is .405. That means that it's unbranded.

It's 1.72.405.3
So it's unbranded but I need to downgrade in order to root and S-OFF etc?
Yes, you need to downgrade it to 1.32. But you don't need to create a gold card

Hi, I've the same problem, I need to get back to voda 1.75
First of all, did you used hboot S-OFF or radio S-OFF ?? Because if you used hboot you won't be able to recover the original boot to S-ON and your phone will be out of warranty regardless of the ROM it has installed.
As I understand it, if you've flashed the 1.39 branded RUU back to the phone that should've give you the stock vodafone recovery wich is what is needed in order to get Voda Branded OTA updates, am I right?
So I don't get why aren't you receiving the 1.75 OTA, do you have superCID?
Anyone knows if there is a 1.75 Voda RUU available somewhere to flash manually?

Hi.
Looks like we're stuck in the same boat! I have reflashed the original radio and the original hboot. Also put my cid to stock (VODAP001), and turned radio s-on. Reflashed clockworkmod recovery to original stock recovery, got the phone back to 100% the way it was when I took it out of the box, yet still I cannot get the OTA update to 1.75.161.2
I'm on 1.39.161.1, stock Vodafone UK firmware. I followed a guide off another forum (german forum) nd thanks to Google translator I managed to follow the steps. But still stuck at the OTA issue.
yep, so it seems.
Could you post the link to that thread on the german forum?
Thanks

Hi guys,
Sorry to dig this one up but I've hit a bit of a snag with my phone and could do with some assistance.
I got the phone originally with a Vodafone ROM and decided to debrand it to a plain HTC ROM - 1.72 using a de-brand pack I got from Fonefunshop. It appears that based on the fact the phone still has a Vodafone serial number but a HTC ROM I cannot receive OTA updates (I want Gingerbread ) then I need to revert back to stock. Ironically Vodafone released 2.3 earlier than HTC which was annoying to say the least.
I've been hunting round for the stock Vodafone RUU for 1.36 but I don't know if I can downgrade for starters, nor can I find any Vodafone RUU files anywhere including on here nor on Stock-ROM's.
Can anyone give me some help with this?
When I bought my phone from Vodafone on contract in November it came unbranded and unlocked. Nothing to do with Vodafone at all, apart from the CID. So if you just flash back to the stock 1.32 ROM and change the CID to the Vodafone one which I think is VODA_0001 (Dont quote me on that, its off the top of my head but there is a thread here somewhere that has it in), then make your phone S-on to get the updates.
That way you will be completely stock.
I'm in the same boat too
Flashed the non-branded software when I got the phone last year. Now I can't get the OTA update to 2.3.
Does anyone have a link the the stock 1.32 ROM and also a guide on how to change the CID and to make the phone S-on to get the updates?
Thanks
Lee

Can someone help me with this? I'm trying to update the HBOOT loader using the HTC Dev unlock site but the download HBOOT 1_08.0099.20111216.exe file says my ROM image version (1.36.61.2) is not compatible and that a new file for this version will be available soon.
Is there anything I can do to update the HBOOT in the meantime (I don't mind debranding, possibly creating a gold card, etc) as it would be great to get the bootloader on this device unlocked (so I can try cyogen among other things)

BIOS information is:
HBOOT-0.90.0000

Apr 8 2011 17:45:10
OS Info is:
Android version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version: 2.1
Software number: 1.36.61.2
Looking at the HTCdev info problem is there is no orange uk RUU image - or before that even a ROM updater.
@pat da punk
I Was think of reflashing to the EU stock from the loading to the SD card method, or by using the HTC dev unlocker HTC EU RUU, but I don't want to brick the phone by not prepping the rest of it first (i.e. the image mismatch)
you have 2 options. Wait for the Orange UK 2.3.5 Update, then start unlocking it, Or flash it to EU 2.3.5. those 2 things will update your hboot to 1.08.0000, where u are able to unlock
#Edit
Also u wont brick phone with official RUU, it will check if all is good, then it will start installing, Orange UK rom is just same as HTC EU rom, but u got branded OS, that's the difference
@Unkheq
How would I update the OS to 2.3.5 EU? as it would be useful to be pointed somewhere where the image is / information is on how to do this, as I might go ahead and flash to the EU version if I decide its going to be a faster option
Don't mind about the non branding. Most crucial on my mind at the moment is making more space for apps etc.

Thanks for all your help pat da punk and Unkheq. I've used the thanks button in the thread. I will wait a week or two to see if an offical Orange UK rom update comes out, and then may go the EU carrier route.
A final question, if I convert the SD card to a gold card, does it still use orange as the main network, but esentally allows you to flash the rom so its non orange branded (EU generic route)?
You use he network from your simcard is ^^, after installing rom u pick ur network.
OK got it. Will see if I can link the guides so that when I come back in a week or so I can remember exactly what to do
As it looks like there is going to be no immediate Orange UK unlocker for the wildfire S (can't see any mention on the website) I was planning to go the HTC Europe route myself as soon as the SD card reader I've ordered arrives.
If I do this then considering the HBOOT needs updating, will the marvel Europe 2.66 version (or whatever the lastest version is) attempt this and abort if there is going to be a problem or is there a verified version that successfully updates HBOOT 0.90 without any risk?
If all versions work then all fine and dandy. Just asking in case I'm creating a bricking chance if I manage to goldcard the SD card.
Thought I would post back and say I had great success in reflashing to the HTC marvel europe build.
Basically I followed the guide in 1st link beow below, then followed up by using the unlocker on the HTCdev site.
I've also found that the HTC supertool V3 roots the phone and its possible the unlock bootloader instructions will work as well, but I personally didn't follow that method and used the HTCdev site.
