Seems I have a issue that occurs sometimes for just some contacts on my Desire. If I start a new SMS rather than replying it works ok but when replying on a message thread it starts to go wrong I get " unable to send message after multiple attempts" on the notification and the SMS fails to send. Even retrying to send does the same thing. This is on a SIM free Desire I recieved Saturday. Other than this issue I am very happy with the phone, just this problem is starting to annoy me. Anyone able to help me please

I have a Norwegian HTC Desire unbranded phone, but i currently live in Qatar and i use it with my sim card in Qatar...
From time to time I write some text messages to Norway to friends and such,
but there is one of my friends I can't reply sms to...
I use "ChompSMS" as a messages client, and his phone nr is saved on my phone memory, with the country prefix and all...
When I compose a new message to him, he gets the text message, but when i reply to the message, the country prefix does not get in cluded in the text, so I get a failure when trying to send it...
When i press "view message failure", the nr its trying to send it to is "90508395" insted of "+4790508395", this is the only contact i have this problem with, all my other norwegians friend i can reply to without a problem..
Anyone have a soloution?

I had the EXACT same problem and people thought I was crazy.
The only solutions I found were to either to change to Handcent, dont know why, but it fixed it.
OR
Reflash to a new rom. That completely fixed the problem and I was able to go back to chompsms.

It could be also a setting on your friends phone, something like reply to and he has that set up with his nr. but not in intl format. Worth checking...

I got nowhere using chompsms, and no help from posting on the forum. Some googling revealed handcent, which I now use every day. It just works, without requiring googling or forums etc. Like you'd expect an SMS app to be, really.

+1 on the handcent.. Works great for me
Hi,
Im having a bug issue with my stock SMS application.
Sometimes, when I send an SMS to Mr. A, the message goes to Mr. B.
Quite often that when I get a new SMS, when I tap on the SMS app to go to all the message conversations, then tap on the threaded message which has the new message, but it switches to a different recipient.
Anyone here experiencing the same issue?
Any advice?

stupid Android SMS Bug
it's finally happened.
Yesterday, I sent quite a sexual content text message to my girlfriend, BUT my employee received it.
The text I sent to my girlfriend showed up on the conversation between me & my gf, but she did not received it. However my employee received it.
How freaking annoying.
I have contacted HTC & am waiting for the answer. I bet you that the answer is: please hard reset your phone.

It's a known bug. I don't know if its solved if you flash a custom rom. Maybe try a different sms app?

Hi all
Noticed this at xmas but got sidetracked and never brought it up.... until i tried to send a bulk txt this morning !
I have UK defy unlocked with t-mobile, stock ROM but rooted.
When i try to send bulk text messages they ALL fail!! i have to manually resend each one multiple times until i discovered that you need to resend them one at a time, but let each one actually finish sending before moving on to the next.
WTF??? is all i have to say about that...
has anyone else experienced this issue? any ideas how to resolve?

Apps on the market that are supposed to allow multi-text messages at once. Never tried. I have heard this complaint before with Defy. Not sure if it's been addressed in the latest update.

When i want to send text msgs, just as they get a bit long it says it cant send because "the service is currently unavailable". Then a "play" msg comes on the msg and when i press the msg it attemts to read it automatically.
All this and the only thing im trying to do is send a simple txt msg which is a bit long!
Im using stock rom.

When the composing of the message becomes too long, the stock messaging app converts it into an MMS message. You may want to try a modded MMS.apk:
