Hi all
Noticed this at xmas but got sidetracked and never brought it up.... until i tried to send a bulk txt this morning !
I have UK defy unlocked with t-mobile, stock ROM but rooted.
When i try to send bulk text messages they ALL fail!! i have to manually resend each one multiple times until i discovered that you need to resend them one at a time, but let each one actually finish sending before moving on to the next.
WTF??? is all i have to say about that...
has anyone else experienced this issue? any ideas how to resolve?
thanx
Apps on the market that are supposed to allow multi-text messages at once. Never tried. I have heard this complaint before with Defy. Not sure if it's been addressed in the latest update.

My phone froze with the notification for 2 new text messages staring me in the face. It didn't respond to the power button, so i popped the battery and restarted. On restart - no 2 new text messages were found! I know the answer is probably 'no way,' but is any recovery of these messages possible?
Oh, PS - i'm on T-Mobile running the new HTC 1.33 rom.
Nope. I had this issue, 2 messages sitting at the HTC Home screen. I had to take out the battery too, SMS's were gone and I was racking my face for about 3 days finding out who sent them. If there's one thing that tickles me, it's that.
Sorry I know of no way of getting to them, check all your folders and perhaps there is a stored SMS database file it might have remnants.
I went as far as having a friend who works for my carrier, run a network resend to see if they would be pushed to my handset again, to no avail.
i found out who they were just by contacting everyone it might have been. but i seem to remember this happening before at least once or twice, so it'd be nice to know there was a fix for this or a way to recover.
Hello,
I've suspected for a while(and confirmed with friends) that relatively often, my sms don't get to them. It's shown as sent in my phone and in the sms threads, but they simply don't recieve them.
So I tested it out with another phone, sending 5 sms' to the other phone and it only recieved the first one. the other 4 never got there... Now could this be some sort of anti spam causing it? - I did send them in rapid succession. However when I send messages from the OTHER phone to me, regardless of how quick, I get them all. And we're on the same network/provider so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
During regular use, even SMS' sent with lots of time inbetween gets lost occassionally.
I've never had this problems with my old phone so does anyone else have a clue why this is happening? As you can imagine, it's frustrating thinking someone has gotten a message but it never reached there.
Thank you.

Hey thanks for the reply, I saw that but doubt that's the same problem.. I usually list most of my numbers with +, and it shows the message is "sent". If it was the same problem as the link above, I guess it would b epossible to reproduce it everytime but mine is seemingly more random.
The specific number I tested it on was a number WITHOUT the +areacode, and even that produced 1/5 messages recieved by the other party.
Any other ideas?
I had that problem before with my touchPro. All I did was hard reset the phone, active sync my contacts and I sent out text messages. Everything worked fine after that.

Also checked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4016381&postcount=31 ? see if the number is still correct in windows mobile?
Also try to sent from the windows interface a couple of times (in the textmessage touchflo tab touch the new sms icon in the above right corner.) see if it does better then.

God you know what, you're right. Thanks. I did look through the WM sent folder before but not far down enough..
It does seem to drop the + after the first SMS then not reapply the + until I get a reply.
Annoyingly my phone still tells me "Message Sent" instead of invalid number though, so there's no way to tell if it sent the message without going to check the sent folder I assume?
Doesn't seem like there's a fix or even a confirmed cause for this yet?
I'm having a strange reversed problem: all SMS I send are regularly delivered, but I "miss" many incoming ones. the strage thing is that it happens (AFAIK) only with my girlfriend's ones!! nobody else still complained about me not anwering, so that should mean I received and answered all other mesages.
Please note that we have the same mobile operator (Vodafone Italy)
today she tried her SIM with her bro's phone, and guess what, the problem is still here BUT the difference is in lost messages: 4 out of five lost with her Moto v9, 2 out of 6 lost with her bro's nokia. that sounds really weird to me.
where do you think the problem might be? mine/her SIM, or phone?
I'll call Vodafone Italy later, but their assistance and support is really awful, they do not even know what they are talking about, and reply with the same pre-confectioned anwers every time.
Hello,
I have browsed through these boards for a couple of weeks now and seen many pages of issues and problems and for some reason i recently got an issue i cant seem to figure out so im hoping someone else has experienced this also. I recently Hard Reset my phone and reinstalled all the Cabs i wanted. i am on a verizon Touch Pro 2 and i can text everyone except one phone (a phone on my cell acount) and it will send but then respond with MY phone number saying its a System Administrator text back to me saying my text has been delivered. Its annoying and only get it from this phone so far. Why am i getting this? If i need to give a screen shot i will.
Turn off the delivery notification. This can be found under sms options.
I've noticed an issue on my Galaxy Nexus (Stock Rooted 4.0.4, VZW) where randomly a text message will disappear.
I don't have any idea what is causing it and its so sporadic, it happens maybe once every 1,000 texts.
The only way I know I'm even missing a text is if I see it appear in the notification bar but not be there when I go into the messaging app (Using stock messaging) or, because I have mightytext installed, I'll see the message forwarded to my browser but I'll notice its gone from my phone.
I was able to pull a logcat after it happened most recently, so if someone thinks they would be able to decipher some information from it, let me know.
I'm posting because I'm wondering if I'm the only one seeing this issue or if others are in the same boat.
Thanks in advance and let me know if anyone would like some more info...I've been trying to nail this thing down for months now.
You're welcome to put it up on pastebin or something and post it, but I would first eliminate MightyText as the first possible problem. Uninstall it and see if it still happens.
I had the same problem when still on 4.0.2 stock, unrooted. Only ever used the stock messaging app. It happened very sporadic, with the same symptoms you described.
Messages popped up in notification bar but could be nowhere to be found in messages app.
Since upgrading to 4.0.4 it never happened again, or at least I didn't notice.
As you are on 4.0.4 already, that's probably not comforting.

Yeah, it happens so infrequently that I'm not surprised you haven't noticed it since updating, but nice to know someone else has the same issue.
Do you have mighytext installed or can we rule that out as a culprit?
Do you have any SMS Backup applications installed?
If not, I recommend the "SMS Backup +" by Jan Berkel.
Works amazing on my ICS.
Does backups of SMS, MMS and Call Logs (if you want.)
Yes, I do have that installed, but thats not really relevant to the issue I described here.
Thanks.

Sorry - I realized I never finished my train of thought. Got "distracted" as someone walked into my office.
To continue, when your texts disappear from your phone, do they also disappear from your Gmail SMS label?
As per every 1000 texts - I assume you get a TON of texts per day?
I ask - because my cousin who is a promoter also gets/sends 1000's of text messages a week, and he made a funny comment yesterday about how some of his incoming texts "vanished."
He doesn't have SMS Backup+, so I couldn't verify it for him at the time. I'm wondering if you and him have the same problems?
Regards,
var
I also have SMS Backup + installed, but not Mighty text. When a disappearing text arrived, it never even had a time to kick in, even though I'm on wifi and it's said to backup upon arrival. The text is just gone, right after the notification vanishes.
But hard to investigate as it happens really very sporadic... And yup, I get hundreds of messages each day in a developing country, where sometimes also sms are not delivered, so everybody knows and it's not that big of a problem.

Before the JB update, the phone would only give me the send fail if i received a text at the same time as sending a text. After the update, if my texts are under a certain amount of characters, the send fails, or gets stuck in a sending loop, in which case i have to restart my phone to get it to fail. As well as the original issue stated above. Does anyone else G do this? Any fix for this problem? I contacted LG, the dude told me it was the first he had heard of it, do a little Google search, it happens to others, that lying sack. Please, anyone, help me with this issue. I paid good money for this phone when it first came out, and it basically is useless when it comes to texting. Thanks guys.

D*mn right you are mate! I also have this s*cked up problem! I attributed it first to myself since I flashed a Custom ROM without backing up EFS, but I just flashed baseband, yet I still have this problem. Sometimes I can send out sms without problem, but most of the time it fails, send loops, etc. I just wished I haven't flashed before making a backup! But calls are fine.
i don't quite get what you meant, but my OG (running all stock) is perfectly fine with calls and sms.
i don't text much though, but at least once a day (usually 300+- words in a single sms)
