Try using Gparted partition manager.

or you could try format it from recovery, and assign 0 mb for ext partition, to see what will happen
don't forget to backup your sd card first

Backup/Wipe ext-Partition

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to backup and wipe the ext-partition. I'm using ClockWordMod and partitioned my SD with ROM Manager.
ClockWorkMod can't mount my ext-Partition - so there is no way to wipe it or back it up.
With other Recoverymods Restore didn't work at all. So I'm perfectly happy with ClockWorkMod as it's reliable - the only problem is, that I can't do anything with the ext-Partition...
Any suggestions?
Linux can read ext partitions and backup/wipe no problem, but if your a Windows user then you will have to try a different recovery such as AM Desire Recovery, he says he has ext wipe working

i had the same problem then i flashed the permanent recovery (www.unrevoked.com/recovery) and problem solved!
Seems like ClockWork doesn't work with ext2 for me. Tried various versions, couldn't mount any ext2 partition (and that's what you get, when you partition your SD with ROM Manager).
I reformatted the partition to ext3 with Linux (I know there are also other Recoverys, but I find them too unreliable) and now everything works fine.
Strange that ClockWork can only mount ext3 but no ext2...
Of course this solves my original problem as I can wipe and backup the ext-partition with ClockWork now.
I have the same problem with my ext2 partition here.
If I run ext2 -> ext3 in Recovery, is my ext partition wiped after that? Or is anything running unchanged afterwards?

Shouldn't get wiped, no.

E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]

How do I fix this? I made an EXT partition of 256mb and I even tried formatting the sd card. Using a Patriot 16gb Micro sd Class 10 (don't know if that is relevant)
Also installed the recovery from fastboot. CWM 3.0.0.5

Where are you getting this error? Are you trying to set up Apps2ext? I think currently that only works on Enomther's ROM. If you aren't trying to run Apps2Ext, what is the EXT partition on your SD card for?

Apps2EXT is the same as Apps2SD right? If that's the case then yeah that's what I'm trying to do. I thought EXT Partition works with CM7? If not then guess I'll stop trying. I get that error in recovery when I wipe Dalvik Cache and when I try to mount SD-EXT Partition or when I try to format it.

Apps2sd and Apps2sd are two diffreant thing apps2sd stores apps on a FAT formatted sdcard (which is what Froyo uses as native apps2sd with apps that allow it and no widgets) , while apps2ext stores apps on a partition on your sd card formatted to EXT file system, which your phone mounts as part of its internal system so it will support widgets and apps that previously could only be supported on internal storage, so it considers it internal storage even though its on the sd card, so no they are not the same thing, right now the only rom that supports apps2ext is Enoms rom.

I think nowawdays Apps2SD is used to refer to the system built-in to Froyo for moving apps to the SD card (does not use ext file system or need special partitioning). This just works out of the box on any Vision ROM.
CM7 uses the ext4 filesystem for all of it's partitions, which is new (not sure if that's what you are talking about). Hadn't heard it supports Apps2Ext, but maybe?
If you aren't using Apps2Ext though, you should expect to see a warning about a missing sd-ext partition when doing that stuff in recovery, so you're okay.

It means that you don't have a partition in your sd card, so the recovery doesn't need to format this partition. It will not give you problems if you don't use roms that need an ext partition on the sd card.
If you need some other information, feel free to ask me..
Regards
Not really sure what the problem is here, but if you had an SD-EXT partition (for DarkTremor's A2SD) data wipe wipes the SD-EXT partition.

[Q] Sd card problems

Hi guys, sorry for the newbie question but here I go. Just now I decided to flash a new ROM so I do what I normally did before I flash a new ROM (backup my sd card contents and do a nandroid backup). After I done those, I reformat my sd card using my laptop and place the ROM I wanted into the sd card. After I flash the ROM I get stuck in the HTC screen and my backup doesn't work but luckily I manage to revive my Desire. After that I notice that my previous partition that I made using gparted is gone and that's why the ROM didn't work at first. So, am I still able to recover my lost partition from my sd card or they are gone for good?
If you have a working nandroid backup, you can try to recreate your partitions first and restore then.
Windows laptop? The reformat using will have wiped your Ext partition. As said recreate fat32 and Ext using Gparted and restore nandroid (assuming under AmonRa or 4Ext recoveries you included sd-ext) or flash new Rom.

I did the full wipe via recovery but I reformatted my sd card using my laptop and I think that's the problem since the process wipe out everything including the partitions I made before. And thanks for the answer, greatly appreciate

Yes, a windows laptop and unfortunately it has wiped my previous partition. I did manage to partition it again but I found out that my sd card size is reduced. So does the reformat process wipe out my old partition for good or I still can somehow recover back my lost partition?

Although I'm not an expert in partitioning but I can provide some info about this. Firstly, how you partition your sd card (gparted, rom manager or other methods)? And which partition you made (EXT3/4)?

The ext partition itself is gone, but if you re-partition using Gparted, copy your sd card backup from laptop onto sd card, then providing your nandroid included sd ext backup a restore should get you back to where you were.

Running data2sd in cm 10

Hey guys, I recently flashed benjamingwynn's cm 10. I really liked the rom but the rom takes up a lot of space. My internal memory is very low, so even if I use link2sd I was only able to install some apps. Then I tried data2sd from the market. I created a storage file but when I try to mount it, there's nothing happening. Is there any way to make data2sd working? Should I follow any other steps?
Thanks in advance!

Data2sd from market? lol.
Data2sd is a script which is only flashed by installing from recovery or rom manager... Get cronmod int2ext+ script and flash it from recovery. It works pretty well.
I can only repeat sukhjit321, you have to flash it in recovery.
Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?t1r06j60gybhn2t
Put it on your SD card, then install it from recovery just like a rom (delete cache partition and dalvik cache before).
Or try int2ext+ or something else, but you have to flash all of them in the recovery.

Yes, first make a FAT32 partition, and then an ext4 partition (the ext4 is going to be your internal memory, so make it as big as you want)

Hi....i have a Wildfire S working on CM10. Im facing the problems of Low internal memory too...I have tried usinbg Link2Sd but barely helps...again doomed for low internal memory...if i flash data2sd try int2ext+ or something else, i wud have to flash all of them in the recovery by going in recovery mode and the install from SD card..BUT do i have to wipe everything or what i mean to say is do i have to flash the CM10 all over again by deleting everything OR just flashing DATA2SD / int2ext+ wud help.
Beacuse while using Link 2Sd i have already created partiion EXT4 for about 3GB on my 8 GB SD card..
Please suggest how i must do the process ....
Regards ,
Piyush
no...don't flash data2s or int2ext or othe sceipt simultanuslly....lit will cause crash...and u can use your link2sd partition as 2 nd partition....but if after flashing int2ext+ your internal memory dont change and 150 mb than you have to make patition again...sad..
