Hallo,
Does anybody know an application to detaily monitor the power consumption of the running apps? Something similar to PowerTutor but suitable for Defy.
Many thanks,
martin

I use Battery Indicator.
Try "system panel lite".

Try the pro version and you'll get logging too. I have it and I love it!
Thanks, system panel seams to be very nice. I have a question regarding the monitoring. What exactly is the percentage in the top apps view? For cpu usage, it seams a little low? Or is it battery consumption? Should not the sum of them be 100?
Thanks a lot,
Martin

Or is the sum of the percentages not 100 because stuff such as the display is missing?
Thx and best regards,
Martin

is there something wrong with PowerTutor? I have it installed on my Defy.
No it seams to fine as well. I just wanted to try something else because, after installation, powertutor wrote that the phone has not been recognized and, thus, the measurements may be not accurate.
Right now, I have both running for comparison.
greets,
martin

I use that Hot Reboot App for all my roms even the ones that already have it in the reboot menu. Its faster to access and has 4 different reboot options when you open it up.
Just put a link to the app on your homescreen.

Wow, I know I do not post here a lot but the app is $.72 man... come on....
Most of these devs don't even ask for anything, and those of them that do, should get it if it is a decent product. Is paying $.72 REALLY that hard to do considering the amount of time the dev put into the app to make peoples lives just that much easier?
Sorry for the rant.
Edit: And Just now I'm realizing this post is graveyard material, go me.
Yeah I know this is a bit late, but I found a free app that allows you to hot reboot. It's called ROM Toolbox.

Hey guys, is it possible to create an exception list for the ICS Task Manager. My problem is that whenever I "clear memory" it will close my Widget Locker and I have to go in and restart it. As much as I clear memory in a day thats alot of restarting. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I don't need recommendations for other task managers, I would like to keep it native.
You shouldn't be frequently clearing memory as is. Android isn't like a Windows Mobile phone. You're supposed to use the task manager in the event of a misbehaving app and thats pretty much it.
So it isn't necessarily a bad thing if the memory bar is full?

I never clear memory. Just use task manager to close open apps. My battery life is great and phone runs like a charm. Just my 2cents

No its not. Those apps are just being stored in cache. They aren't actively using battery (unless its a poorly programmed app). Android should automatically remove the ones that are idle on its own, though. Just let Android do its thing.
If you're really worried about runaway apps, use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEwOSwiY29tLnpvbXV0LndhdGNoZG9nbGl0ZSJd
Its a different kind of task manager. All it does is monitor what apps are using the most CPU. ONLY kill the stuff it alerts you that are using crazy high CPU processing.
I found a few apps that tracks your phone down or even takes pictures of the person trying to unlock it, but like the title says, is there any app that blocks hard reset? It's kind of pointless if your phone gets stolen if they can just shut the phone off and do a hard reset to it and sign in with there email,
Thanks :-D

I guess in theory you could place an app like Seekdroid in the system folder and then do a hard reset. Usually a hard reset won't affect system apps.

you can't really avoid physical maneuvers. and anything baked into the phone's startup has to be a modification to the actual ROM. so no.

I missed the part were it said that you could set it to were the only way they can un install it is by flashing a different ROM,,but that setting is for rooted phones,I'm completely stock and not sure if I want to root this phone,

You should root the phone it will change your life. Plus its so easy even a cave man can do it

Check out Android Lost, it does alot of those things as well. Relies on push messaging too, so its very light. You can take a picture on demand, turn on GPS and get location, download texts/emails, etc.

It'd be nice if we could put a password lock on the recovery. Wonder why 4ext hasn't done that yet.

Yea it would, also it would be tight if Samsung had in app like that already installed, that way even with a master reset you'll still be able to find your $700 + phone lol, I haven't lost one yet (knock on wood) but still very nervous of loosing it, ill give android lost a try,

After I got my phone I left the box on the train with all the accessories lol. It can happen!
I'm trying to use Android Lost,, but I can't get the gps remotely to turn on when it's off,
So maybe Cerberus might be better, I might have to give that one a try,

Android lost is free and its king of this kind of apps. Nothing is even close. Go get it try come back and hit thanks.

This is how I got around the GPS toggle not working:
Since AndroidLost.com allows you to send texts, I have setup a tasker profile which waits for a text that says "androidlost" and if it receives it, it enables GPS.

it looks good, although cerberus seems just as good and its already installed. I tested cerberus and its flawless. I guess there's no harm in having both though!

Well, I brought myself to removing my CM10.2 and trying the MIUI ROM. It was a very slick, very smooth ROM. I overall enjoyed it. But with it being a ROM of course it had a few minor bugs. And I did have a few dislikes. So I'm gonna list a few things I personally noticed about it. Fell free to post your thoughts and any resolutions to anything I'm gonna lay out.
PROS:
-a smooth, soft feeling touch that was full of color and a very nice setup. The was miui was set up in settings for example was on of a kind. I was not disappointed. The theme app that was there gave me full control of changing the status bar, lock screen, home screen, etc. You have full control of customization. WiFi also seemed to work just fine.
CONS:
- Sadly, my LTE didn't appear to work. I tried adjusting my setting to fix it. No avail and that kinda was frustrating. But with WiFi working it didn't pose to much of a issue. I also experienced to apps for my gallery, and I was unable to delete it because it was a system app. Some of the themes I downloaded froze my phone, causing me to remove my battery and restart my phone. I wasn't bothered by it to much, I'm rather used to having to do that with previous phone.
Over all if you like a fresh and fast ROM you will love MIUI. But with these few issues I went back to cm. As I need my LTE cause my phone is also a work phone and I need the fastest internet I can get. So feel free to post your thoughts on MIUI and any fixes. Because I would like to switch back and continue using MIUI.

LTE works you just have to select it in settings when you first flash the rom because it doesn't default on. Reason there are 2 galleries is because MIUI has its own gallery and since we have to use 4.2 camera it comes with its only gallery also hide one in a folder if you dont like one. And theme issue I've never experienced this

Thanks for the advice. Looking forward to flashing back and getting it sorted out

I love the visual development compared to all other ROM.
Looks great.. but I'm still in love with AOSP.
Right out of the box, I think MIUI looks a lot like ios . Maybe too much.
It is a great ROM though, and very user-friendly.
Could I see a screen shot of the phone? Keypad, in call. These are things people over look, but this is our phone is it not? For most if not everyone on here, the only phone they use.
