Hey folks, I figured I'd bring my question to the big brains here at XDA. My question is, is it possible to enable a blinking green indicator light to let me know when I've got a new email/voicemail/message/whatever while the phone is plugged in to charge? I'm on VZW, running the Impact Mighty Rom. The xv6800/tytn I had previously to this phone worked in that fashion. Just wondering if anyone else had this same issue.
MODS, feel free to move if in the wrong area.

For those unaware it stands for back light notifications, which uses the 4 capacitive led lights on the bottom of phone (just beneath the samsung logo) for notifications.
I have already searched on the epic forums and it seems that none of the kernels have the bln mod. Even though we already have a red led notification at the top of our phones, I think it would be a cool addition to the kernels. Our current led light stops flashing after x amount of time, where as the bln mod is customizable to continue flashing as long as you would like. Also, when you are charging your phone the red led is useless and a constant red.
I really can't do anything but to make a request for the devs to include it in their kernels. You guys can choose to include it or not. If not, why?
Bump? I'm really interested in this.

What they said that's always been my main gripe when charging. I never know when I have a call or anything always have to turn the screen on. So that would be awesome

I guess not as many people are interested/aware of this to keep the thread bumped to the main page to get the attention of some of the devs. Bummer
I'm interested in this as well.
Bumping for other peoples interests in this.

This would be great as I hate the annoying red light while charging. I use my phone as a alarm/bedside clock so a bright red led is stupid. I guess there are apps that I might be able to use to change the led but I haven't tried that yet. Using the leds at the bottom would be great.
My girlfriend has the samsung fascinate, since that galaxy s phone doesn't have a regular led, almost all the kernels over in that forum have the bln mod to it. It is supposed to be portable to all galaxy s phones. Bumping to the first page to see if we can get some more people interested enough in the hopes of the devs looking into this and maybe spending some of their time integrating it into the kernels.
Hello, i don't see a question and answer forum so i am asking it here. My wife has a t-mobile Samsung galaxy 2 and the phone does not show the correct percentage and she has had the phone shut off because it ran out of power. Only if she charges to full and reboot does it work properly. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. By the way the phone is not rooted.

Uhmm calibrate it. Pull out the battery for 5 seconds pull it back in... Then power it on. Male it to where so the phone shuts off completely then charge it too 100%

Oh and this goes in the general.. The reason why we dont have a Q and A is because the general section needs like 1000 post daily to get it. So thats why. Also and more question go to general for the time beingg

Are you using the original charger and cable? I had the same issue and it started working after I finally pulled them out of the box.
To answer your initial statement, anything that doesn't fall under development would go on the general forum.
That being said, I remember this issue being brought up by lots of members at the beginning. So, a search should give you some answers. I think rooting and trying out one of the great roms currently available here is the best way to go IMO. I personally recommend Juggernaut

i had a problem with the apps not showing the correct battery at first too when it wasn't rooted, but even before i rooted i found this app to work for me and it always displayed the right battery. like it never freezes the battery life while it is actually being drained.

So hunting through the bloat I chance upon this interesting kibble. Using nobloat I disabled it and thusfar no issues...But doesn't anyone know what the heck it is?
Google wasn't much help in that regard.
Maybe it is the dreaded "Battery Sucker" we are all searching to disable/stake through the heart/flame to hell, cut it's scrawny head off???
that's weird, i just checked and mine has com.lge.wolfman

Imagine it is the reason why the battery life is so horrible. And if so, why is it there to begin with? hehe
makes us actually wonder that question with serious thought, just WHY is it there and named so? i can actually say i saw battery life decrease when i enabled it. i could leave my phone unused in my holster all day and see little dropoff, but when i re-enabled com.lge.dracula i actually lost 3/4 of my battery power by mid-day!! coincidence?? maybe....LTE affiliation? possibly.... "battery sucker"?? certainly.

Can someone run it with the others over at Skyrocket's forum n see if it's also available on their phone. If it is, then it might be LTE related.
Repherb, when u disable it, did u check to see if your LTE will work or not?
i froze dracula through Titanium backup , currently connected to LTE, no problems here, restarted to make sure. it is still frozen and LTE connected.
LG Optimute LTE. P930.
Who can we inquire to here in XDA to research on this random file? Can someone from XDA investigate with LG to find out the purpose behind this file?
Also, is there any possibility of some screenshots to show the difference freezing Dracula does to the battery life? This way we can prove that this file (or Wolfman) does suck the life out of the battery and is the reason behind the horrible battery life.
Froze it, no discernible difference in battery life imo.
Ran a video playback test, the extrapolated playback time at 40% brightness in airplane mode is about 5 hours 20 mins. The same test on my SGS2 got slightly over 8 hours.
LTE works fine when disabled, i am going to dive into the OS to see what calls this. btw: after rooting with DoomLord v3 zergrush, i am getting a serious amount of FC with nothing disabled using GO launcher. anyone else having this? just a [Q]... not trying to cross post...
**************UPDATE******************
after running top, i found that "lg_fota" (OTA updates) calls the Dracula process. hope this sheds some light on this elusive process.
I hate to reopen a two year old thread, but since Dracula is actually undead, I just have to ask: has anyone figured out what com.lge.dracula is, and if it's safe to chuck it?
Hey, my phone seems to over heat when charging. I haven't experienced this on anything but sense roms, but I was looking for insight on how this is happening. Here is a quick background:
The phone is rooted.
It is running a CDMA Sense rom called "Angry HTC".
I'm not oveclocking in any way.
There is no phone cover on the phone.
No apps running the background. Only stock apps.
Im using the stock charging cable/charger
I have some battery stats to post once I transfer them real quick. Anyone else experience this?
EDIT: Also serious responses only. Please no "lol cuz ur on sense duh".
Try undervolting?

Do you have a fast charge script in init.d?
You just wrote overheating... What temperature? When I charge mine, it's often around 39° C and One Power Guard says "Health Good". HOV is known to overheat here and now and everything below 45° C is normal...
One Power Guard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947559
Hope it helps :fingers-crossed:
Sorry for.the late reply guys, completely missed your replies. To answer you questions:
1. I don't have any fast charging scripts in init.d. As even pure stock does this.
2. Sorry for being general about it. The battery stats I'm looking at here is at about 104F with nothing running. Which was why I was concerned.
And just for the record, I did try and move it to various plugs throughout the house with the same results still occurring.

Well, 104F is 40C, so nothing to worry about... It's just how it is...
Hello there fellow XDA members,
Is there anyone to help me determine what is this and why is this thing happening?
Is this phone done for ever or is there still hope for fix?
Thanks in advance.

Kinda looks like it is hardware related. Has this been a gradual problem or did you just notice it when you woke it up? I am no expert but looks like the screen is dying. If you could provide a little more info someone that knows more than I might be able to provide a different answer.

Well sure.
It started happening suddenly. But I feel it have something to do with GPU chip.
It's getting hot on the back of the phone when I do whatever and if I do
multitasking or even start heavy application the chip on the back gets crazy
and my screen just turn into a bright smash of colors. After that phone
is no longer operating and I am forced to take off the battery and boot the phone again.
