I am now running the froyo ROM with A2SD+. As all my apps have installed via A2SD+, shall i keep it how it is or shall i move the apps to SD via the built in menu?
I want to use the method thats the quickest and used the least amount of internal phone memory.
thanks
Anyone???
thanks
You also need to have your sd card partitioned
Do backup first, it will erase all data on your sd
Sorry, im not sure if i understand your comment. Are you saying its beter to use Froyo apps to SD or A2SD+?

If i format my SD card with clockwork (through rom manager) or RA (in recovery) with ext (256 or 512) swap (32 or 64) etc, Froyo cant read it. If i format the SD card from within froyo ->settings/SD & Storage, then it shows up. The problem is that A2SD will not work. I'm assuming it is because formatting within froyo wiped out my ext partition. When i try to move an app to the SD it says Failed to move. Sometimes says not enough space.
What is the proper way to set up a 16GB class 6 for Froyo?
Is there a trick to getting Froyo to read the SD after partitioning and formatting with RA or Clockwork or Darktremor method?
Thanks in advance for the help.
I don't think Apps2sd is working with froyo yet. Froyo has its own built-in version of apps on the sd card that requires developers to turn it on.
If I am wrong, I would love to know about it. I did a quick search around xda.
So I moved my apps2SD. Then installed a ROM. How do I get it to "find" the SD apps?
I'm being told that my SD card is full. AND my internal memory is full. I have a feeling that the apps are installed in 2 different places. Is this the case? How can I tell?
I'm a mess, don't know where to start. Thanks for any help.
Later!
What method did you use to move them to your SD card?

This app called SDMove.
I've never used that before. I've always used Dark Tremor A2SD. Most of the roms support it. It requires partitioning your SD card. It will also move dalvik to SD which really frees up space. It's recommended using a class 4 card or faster.

I never partitioned my SD Card. I guess that might be a problem, and is probably why they never show up on the SD Card? I don't know.
Does partitioning the card require reformatting the SD Card?
If you installed a new rom without doing a full wipe, the rom should load all your apps if there are no conflicts. Thd SDMove app is just an easier way to move apps that can be moved to SD storage instead of going through HTC's app management in settings.
In regards to DarkTremor's A2SD, yes you would have to reformat your SD card to create an ext 2 or 3 partition. Most custom roms should state whether a2sd is available and then you just setup the partition in recovery. Make a complete backup of your SD card onto your comp that includes a nandroid backup and Titanium backup or MyBackup Pro app+data set.
In order to determine if you have multiple copies of your apk's , use a file manager and search your evo. I use "app 2 sd" on the evo using root explorer I found that apk's are kept in "mnt/asec" and "mnt/secure/asec" , which are folders on the sdcard. Since you used an application to move your apk's to the sdcard and not the OS apps2sd, you should find only one occurrence of each apk.
Hello all, wondering whether anyone can help. My 2.2 rooted Desire currenly has ~11MB of free space. I have just bought an 8GB micro SD card from play.com and put it into the phone.
Just wondering must install all apps to phone memory first and then move to SD card or is it possible to directly install to SD card. Which prog is best and easiest to move apps to sd card.
Thanks
Easiest to root and install custom rom which supports a2sd.
With this you aiming at apps need to have in code optimisations in order to be transfered to the SD card, and then would be using FAT32 partition - that you don't want since some apps need to be started together with the OS, and will fail to do so then since OS first loads apps and second mounts FAT partition.
Long story short - root - custom rom - Leedroid ftw
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have the modaco 2.2 stock rom. So what app would you recommened.
I just re-read your post, so you would suggest leedroid rom rathern than stock rom with app 2 sd app...?
Hi,
I got a HTC Desire and installed the stock 2.2 firmware on it. I want to partition the sd card so that I can install the apps on the sd card instead of the phone memory.
Is there any way of doing this on the stock 2.2 or do I need to install a custom rom?
Thanks
You can partition the memory card if you like, but a stock ROM won't use it. Must be a customer ROM
I dont understand your question so giving double answers, whichever suits you.
if you just want to be on stock 2.2 and dont want to root and custom rom, android natively support few apps to SD card, You can use app2sd app free from android market and transfer to SD card or in setting go to each application and check which apps have option to move to SD.
That method have limitation of which app and space also not enough. Now by partitioning SD card and create ext partition you 1st need to root and partition and choose ROM (eg leedroid) which supports ext partition which give more space for more apps.
You can partion your card with rom manager, even if it's not useful in your case.

I went from stock Froyo on my HTC Desire and just installed MIUI 2.10.12 Jelly Bean v2.7 (which I "think" is the latest version for my device?).
I did so simply because I could no longer put up running out of internal storage memory. Before even restoring a single file from my Froyo backup, I am already out of internal memory! I have plenty of SD mem, so I tried Apps2SD, Links2SD... there is nothing to move to SD! According to them, anything that can be moved, has been. My SD card was ext2 partitioned a long time ago.
What I'd really like to know is.... did I pick a good ROM or should I have gone with "ICS Evolv", which I heard is better for making room on internal memory? I'm currently trying Titanium Backup, because it can free up dalvik cache. But if Titanium, Apps2SD, Links2SD don't solve the problem of regularly running out of internal memory, what will? Evolv? I think the solution might be to trick the system into shadowing internal RAM on to the SD card, so that the internal storage area gets to be much larger. But I don't know if that can be done, or if I properly prepared the SD card to do it.

I put that version onto an HTC Desire, and likewise Google Maps wouldn't even update without running out of memory. When building the phone I followed an excellent guide online guide (on this website) forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084 - step 5 - create an extra 1GB partition, then use a2sd to move apps to that new partition. You may have to move the contents of the SD card to a PC, do the formatting with gparted and move the SD contents back to the SD card.
Have now got over 150MB free space, even with loads of apps installed. Has to be installed via a terminal emulator, but is actually part of MIUI. Think I just typed 'a2sd install' from the su prompt in terminal emulator.
Has made MIUI 2.7 viable on that phone!
