A2SD and FROYO. Need SD Help. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If i format my SD card with clockwork (through rom manager) or RA (in recovery) with ext (256 or 512) swap (32 or 64) etc, Froyo cant read it. If i format the SD card from within froyo ->settings/SD & Storage, then it shows up. The problem is that A2SD will not work. I'm assuming it is because formatting within froyo wiped out my ext partition. When i try to move an app to the SD it says Failed to move. Sometimes says not enough space.
What is the proper way to set up a 16GB class 6 for Froyo?
Is there a trick to getting Froyo to read the SD after partitioning and formatting with RA or Clockwork or Darktremor method?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't think Apps2sd is working with froyo yet. Froyo has its own built-in version of apps on the sd card that requires developers to turn it on.
If I am wrong, I would love to know about it. I did a quick search around xda.

Apps2SD Original (Using EXT Partition)

Hey,
I came from my G1 back in March and love my desire. I recently rooted because of lack of space for apps and installed DeFrost (am now on 1.8).
I don't like FroYo Apps2SD, I get a lot of problems, not everything is installed to the SD card, widgets get missing and I find that sometimes I lose apps when transfering them from the phone to the SD Card.
I decided to Partition my SD Card into FAT32 and EXT3 and use the old Apps2SD like we used to on the G1. I'm 90% sure DeFrost supports this as it's called Apps2SD+.
Anyway, I partitioned in Linux, wiped and reinstalled the rom. The internal storage was only 148mb so I knew it hadn't picked up the EXT Partition. I then partitioned the SD card using the Rom Manager and I had the same problem, went back into linux and converted it from EXT2 to EXT3 but now the phone wont even boot and is stuck on the HTC screen.
How do I set it up to use the EXT Partition?
Thanks,
Steve.

Froyo apps to Sd or A2SD+

I am now running the froyo ROM with A2SD+. As all my apps have installed via A2SD+, shall i keep it how it is or shall i move the apps to SD via the built in menu?
I want to use the method thats the quickest and used the least amount of internal phone memory.
thanks
Anyone???
thanks
You also need to have your sd card partitioned
Do backup first, it will erase all data on your sd
Sorry, im not sure if i understand your comment. Are you saying its beter to use Froyo apps to SD or A2SD+?

flashing amonra / partioning SD card 1GB

hey guys im currently rooted with clockwork and well I would like to Partion my SD card to 1GB for HD roms.
Rom manager only allows 512mb I believe. I cant seem to flash amonra via unrevoked3. It stalls at waiting for root :S.... phone is already rooted with leedroid 2.2f loaded on it.
Is there any windows programs to partion SD card? like not doing it via phone?
any help very appreciated.
The easiest solution would be to download gParted live cd to boot from and then use that to partition the sd card in whatever format with whichever size you would want!

[Q] SD Card Problem

Ok, here's the thing.
I was trying to install LeeDrOiD V3.0.7 rom for my Desire and I followed the instructions.
And there was this step: "Flash This EXT 3 Alignment patch prior to flashing the ROM"
I've done all steps and I was stuck in boot screen.
But the main problem is that my phone can't mount SD card.
Before all this (two months before), I was doing step by step "Noob Proofing Everything Desire Guide" and I was doing partition of SD card using Gparted.
So I don't know if I messed up my SD card or what?
I can easily read card on my computer, but not on phone.
Can anyone help me?
same..
I have same this problem.. gparted, Leedroid and then cant mount sd card..
I cant find solution :/

I have 4GB SD card and when I used gparted i set 1GB for ext3.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
HELP PLEASE:
Cant update or download new apps from market to SD card.
I can only download & update apps on internal storage and then move them to SD... But If I have app on SD I cannot update or install app.. I always get - Installation Unsuccessful
I am using Leedroid NOA2SD 2.4.1. Tried to format SD card, unmount and mount SD.. nothing helps.
Titanium Backup:
Internal: 23 MB free
SD card: 1.29 GB free
SD card (a2sd): 1.90 MB free
after flashing this fancy alignment.zip you must reboot recovery and then flash the rom.zip
try it now, if it doesnt work you must re-do your sdcard
this can be done with android, boot up into any rom and go to settings>storage>format SD card - and it will restore whole sd as FAT32 (you will lose ext3)
so you need either other android phone or other SD so you can flash any rom to your current phone.
there is also an windows aplication that can do it (restore whole SD as fat32) but i dont know its name (and it is not anything alike gparted which unfortunately cant do it)
I've used SD Formatter 3.0 and I succeded in formatting SD card.
My phone can now mount SD card again.
mac - disk utilities - repair disk - might work if its just corrupted

[Q] Sd card has "permanently" shows less space

i decided to make an ext partition on my sd card so i could move over even more application data over to external, however it didn't work to my liking so i decided to get rid of it and just stick with a full FAT partition instead. Except now my 8gig card only shows something like 3gigs and nothing i could find so far in windows or Linux allows me to see the ext partition to format and make FAT again... any ideas?
this was done with and I'm still running clockwork mod
if you have amonRA v2.3 as your recovery, boot to it and then select partition SD card. Place a zero for the SWAP, when promoted, zero for ext2 and the rest for FAT. Make sure to transfer the contents of your card to a computer or external drive before starting this procedure.
Update: I see that you're using CWM. You can select amonRA ( PC36IMG.zip) from my signature, place it on the root of your SD card and boot to the bootloader to install it.
