Can someone in simple terms tell me how to fix my 4g? My MAC adress is fine, I am on Fresh ROM and I used simpleroot to root my phone, I did not use unrevoked. Any help would be great. After searching every forum on this, nobody has come up with a fix that ACTUALLY works.

Q&A, but anyway....
What exactly is broken? Does it not connect at all? are you having issues requiring manual reconnection after loosing a connection.... what radios are you running? etc...
Take a look at the post below yours (at the moment) in this forum: How to start over: Fully rooted stock 1.47.651.1 in one shot (no adb!) aka Whitslack's method... will get your software up to date on the latest 1.47 (rooted) and current radio's. This has worked for many having issues getting connected.
Use the search button and find confirmed fix for 4g it has to do with updating your 4g and radio then deleting a .xm.tree file off your phone.. I had the same problem as you and that worked like a charm.
I have a problem that I had prior to rooting though. When I connect to 4g I cannot use any data like web browsing. Has anyone wlse had an issue like this? Sorry to highjack the thread I just dont feel it would be necessary to start a whole new thread for this question.
Before root, 4g worked fine, then after rooting it just searches. When upgrading to the newest Fresh Rom, it specifically said to update the wimax, but after that 4g stopped working. Like I said before, i've used search and every single thread is long and everyone is complaining and nothing works it seems.

Yes, I have this problem too...i can connect to 4g fine, but I can't transfer any data.
turn off 4g. delete the file found under data/misc/wimax (mac adress).tree.xml. when you restart 4g that file re-generates. this should fix it.
NOTE: you'll need Root manager to access these files...
worst case scenario -- you have to go back to step one and load the pc36img all over again because that will reflash all radios correctly.

Its not how do I do something, its I had a working phone, then updated it, now it doesn't work and all the forums seem to not make any sense and not work at all. How about pull the stick out of your butt and stop worrying about where things are posted!

did you ever get your 4g working...I just rooted also and my radio is 1.39.00.05.31
Even though your 4G doesn't work, probably because you failed to read simple instructions first, the search button on this forum does in fact work wonders still. Use it.

from what i've read around these forums most people are downgrading their radio's because the latest one don't work with 4g....and after downgrading to 1.36 it has worked for them. so try flashing all the different radios and see which one works for you
If youre in Chicago, there seems to be an issue with 4G. Issue should be resolved within 24hrs according to Sprint.

The most recent radio is 2.05.00.06.10. The most recent WiMAX (Sprint's 4G) is 25641_R01.
You can get them from this thread.
Flash them just like you do a ROM. Drop the zip file on your sdcard, install using recovery. Your phone might reboot a couple of times during the process.
No, don't do that. You need to use whatever radio the ROM you're using calls for. You can not just blindly install a new radio on a ROM that wasn't designed for it.
If you are stock, the OTA updates will bring you the newest radios. If you are not stock, you need to use the radio specified by your ROM.

And you can get those proper radio files where? Oh that's right, this thread, the same one I linked earlier.
Some of the ROMs listed on the site will tell you which you need. Some won't and let you guess which is right through trial and error. At any rate, they're all available there.
I'm not contesting your link. I'm contesting your suggestion of blindly dumping radios into a ROM that may or may not work.

What's to contest, other than being a jerk? You might as well say "don't blindly dump ROMs on your phone, you might break it." These aren't like the baseband on the iPhone where it's a pain in the butt to go back to an earlier version.
I did. I'm sorry I suggested he do it the right way the first time rather than shooting in the dark and seeing what noise you hear down range.

You shouldn't mind 'guiding' the newer folks to the right source. There are hundreds of dead ends in these forums. Many of which are bookended by peeps such as yourself saying 'search this or that'. Truth be told, there is little organization here. Sure, if you're a troll you know where to go; but there is no concise guide formulated yet.
So, sieze this opportunity to help those who are honestly trying to find the information. You can hang around and slay those who are demanding without justification. Hell, I'll join you in slamming them.

Can any share some insight or solution?
I've had my Evo for about 3 weeks now and am now wanting to root now that I see cyanogenmod is coming to Evo. I've rooted my Nexus and G1 with no problems but it seems the Evo is more difficult, what is the easiest way to root my Evo? And would someone be willing to help me with rooting it via IM or something similar?
There are tons of threads in the android development forum to show you how. Not to mention there was a one click root at some point if I am not mistaken, although I have no idea if it still works.

Yea, I've seen all of them and they all seem tedious compared to Nexus rooting. Which is the best method to go about rooting? I want to use Amon RA recovery if that helps. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me too.
Can anyone help?
Simple Root is 3 clicks & you're rooted & nand unlocked. Running win7 x64 & worked great for me.
I was reading up on it, do I need to uninstall HTC sync and the HTC drivers to get it to work??
I believe for unrevoked you need to remove those items ( the last time i checked at v2 ).
Versus Simple Root... I believe those are all required to get it to work.
What Version is your phone it would be much easier to know
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Its 1.47.651.1 I'm going to try the 1 simple root method, but just have one question, am I supposed to have it on charge only or disk drive?
Charge-only
Awe crap, I forgot to put flash recovery, was I supposed to do that first or can I do that after step 1 or something???
Ok, so I got to part 4 and it just says starting part 2, thats it, it doesn't do anything more. Did I do something wrong, or....? Please help.
So could someone please help me???????
What method are u using? Try unrevoked 3, its very simple
*This was posted from my Evo 4G*
I had to do this after the using simple root method.

Thanks for replying guys, but I got it to work finally late last night. Anyways, I can't get wireless tether to work. It keeps force closing. I know I have root and everything because I was able to make a nand backup and I flashed Damagecontrol.
ok I am about to root and earlier I found a good radio flash guide. I know where to find all the radio versions but I can no longer find this guide for the life of me. can someone point me in the right direction?

I don't know if I can post links yet, but I know of a guide from Geek For Me. In their FAQ they have a simple guide specifically for the Evo. Sorry I couldn't give you the exact link.
Edit, nevermind, thought I was in another thread. Sorry. See the post below and remember you have to reboot after each radio flash. If you're doing radio and wimax, you must reboot after each and not try to do them both at once.
its super easy, all you have to do is put the zip on your sd card and reboot into recovery. Once in recovery, choose the flash from sd card (or similar option depending on your recovery) and confirm! Thats it, no wiping or anything else is necessary for radio updates
yeah i read that geek thing and it looks really easy. i thought i found a thread earlier with a step by step procedure do it without out bricking your phone.
i may have been thinking about something else and got a little worried. damn just reading to much stuff on this today.. lol
thanks guys

No problem. I've done the same thing before. Reading all the threads on this site can overwhelm your brain with new information that's easy to forget bits. Glad to help.
I lost my 4g using unrevoked, and got a replacement phone so i am overly cautious right now. This phone has zero OTA's done on it
Now everything was done via toast 1+2 and I can do all nandroid backup etc...
I have baseband 1.39.00.05.31 and wimax 24722(verified by adb shell wimax mtd) running root safe stock rom 1.32.651.1
Currently I am not positive that running the radio and wimax updates will work with my baseband as it appears that 1.47 is required to do any updates from my readings on here. (warnings not to install unless 1.47 is in)
I have tried to sift through the Dev section of the forum but I am on info overload I suppose.
I have the 2.05.00.06.10 radio file, and both wimax files 25043R04 and 25641 R1 ready to install but I seek some verification that I can put these in without breaking 4g, losing functionality. I was also seeking an order of install so I don't mess up a working phone with only a sub par battery life (and I dont see wireless n active).
I would like to go over and give damage control or Fresh a whirl but I need the latest radios and wimax to make it work, but I am very paranoid to lose another phone.
Anyone have a link, or can direct me to where I need to RTFM for clarification?
Thanks folks!
Seriously? You already answered your own question. We're not going to make a decision for you.
Seriously!
And I failed to mention I have the engineering HBOOT
So if I understand correctly I need to OTA to 1.47.651.1 baseband, and then apply the radio updates, or is there an alternate 1.47.651.1 baseband update I should be using?
As an example should I be following
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915
which is whitslack "How to start over: Fully rooted stock 1.47.651.1 in one shot (no adb!)"?
The newest radio and wimax come with the newest OTA if you're stock. They will only work on an rooted ROM if it is based on the newest OTA.
Again, you are not going to be spoon fed information that is readily available if you spend more than 2 minutes reading the posts on here. Find out what you have on your phone and you will answer your own questions. I could give you fish but I'd rather hand you a fishing pole.
I am coming off a bricked phone so I am a little apprehensive about trying to root without a clear guide, especially froyo since it just got rooted from my understanding. I am sorry if this isnt in the right section, I really couldnt tell if this belonged in the General forum as it is a question, or if it belonged in the development as it is regarding Root/Roms. I would appreciate any help, and even any remarks on how I am misposting in this forum .
There is no root for froyo if you installed the official updates. You can try the previous methods but I doubt they work. You may be sol until someone decides to work on finding an exploit but I doubt that happens until there is an official release. The only rooted froyo that is out is for people who were rooted prior to froyo. Sorry.
If you have Froyo OTA (from Sprint) installed, you cannot yet root it (if/when someone releases root instructions). You have to already have your phone rooted with nand access and then install one of the rooted Froyo updates (there are two right now, from Avalaunch and netarchy). As well, there is a AOSP FROYO from cyanogenmod.
The wiki from toastcfh for this forum gives all sorts of instructions and options for rooting. Good luck.

So please don't murder me for this question, i'm a noob coming from a pre.
I updated(or i should say my phone automatically updated) the 2.1 sprint image from the last update with the SD card Fix. This was before I got to this forum about rooting, etc.
Are my options to only go to the sprint store and get a replacement phone if I want to root now? Or is there a way to backtrack.
I tried to root last night but kept getting daemon errors when trying to connect to the phone. :S

What software version are you running? From homescreen go to menu>settings>about phone>software information and give me your software #.
1.47.165.1
I thought I could with this, because this is what the simpleroot software is showing in the program.
I did a full erase also last night with the volume down power button trick.
search for simpleroot 1.47 either on google, youtube, or here. there are loads of vids and tutorials
Also, there is a Q & A forum and would suggest you use that next time you have a question. You'll get your ass handed to you for posting in the dev section.

Simpleroot is the best option to root v1.47. Unrevoked has known issues, AVOID it. Simpleroot was made from my earlier posting & guide of manually rooting 1.47, so I know it works. WATCH THE VIDEO he made!! It practically cups your nuts the entire way thru the process with both PC & EVO screen videos. Once you do simpleroot, I recommened doing toast's part 2. Right after that do a nandroid backup. Then apply one of the rooted Froyo ROMs posted in the dev forum (there are both odex and deodex versions posted).
However (as already stated numerous times in numerous threads) if you apply the OTA update, your screwed.
ok, ok put the stones down....DOWN. yes Im a newb, but im not an idiot. I have spent the last hour tonight (as well as searching a few times over the last 2 weeks) searching, not just this site, for a way to Root my MT3GS. and apparently its currently impossible.
Yes I am aware of these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181214
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108316
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189485
however none of these fully explains anything and after reading all the replies in these threads it seems that theres conflicting comments, which are confusing me to no end. so Basically I have 3 questions:
Can I root my MT3GS what is currently running the OTA push of 2.2.1?
IS there a way to get S-Off working on it?
Can I Put any new Rom(could very well be using hte wrong word, if so it should be easy to understand what i mean) on the phone so that I can remove all unwanted stock apps, install any marketplace app I had before, and (drum roll please) get NETFLIX to work on my phone?
thank you in advance to anyone who can help me. but please, please please don't just refer me to another thread, because odds are A) I have read it and it didn't explain it well enough for me to understand and feel comfortable doing it, or B) it didn't provide the needed programs or only discussed part of my question and didn't seem to fit up with other threads which covered the other areas.
in short:
1- yes, you can root it. i've done it 3 times on my phone
2- as far as now, no, unless the new method posted today actually reverts the hboot
3- yes, although there might still be some apps that are on the rom that you do not want.
hey txdeathray, thanks for your reply. I found eckres original post on a different site that was much more elaborate, but from what i read still doesnt specify the S-off problem. last post: forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/28205-stuck-on-step-8-rooting/
SO basically, if I CANT get s-off working, then even if I put cm7 or whatever other version i find, as soon as I reboot my phone, it will undo everything I did and ill be stuck with 2.2.1 again.
Have you tried the unlockr.com way to do it? Their page has a vid following you thru the process.. id post the link but im mobile at the moment

No. You don't need S-OFF to keep a new ROM. And you won't lose root with S-ON.
To my understanding, you only need S-OFF if you want to be able to manage some things without having to reboot your phone into recovery, or to get to some system files you otherwise can't with S-ON.
I have not seen the need for S-OFF for my personal use of my phone.
