Hi
Is it possible to save my emails to the storage card. Just incase i upgrade my ROM i end up loosing my emails.
How is WEBIS as an email software.
Dhruv
...please!
Very please with my setup now, LOADS faster and more stable than before (I also learned to install ALL progs to my 4GB SD card!). 1.14.10 radio seems to behave, wakes up quicker I think, good call quality, not sure if better signal but no complains so far. Blank Ext rom and AKU 3.5 mean very 'fresh and lively' feel to the phone, not the horrible slow responding crashing thing of old.
Excuse if I have missed a previous thread but few issues remain:
I cannot, no matter how I try, get Vodafone live or Vodafone MMS to work. I fixed this before by flashing a vodafone EXT Rom but I want to keep this clean. I have all the cabs from a vodafone UK EXT, I'm guessing it's just one of them that is the MMS settings/customisation - can anyone help or offer a workaround? Getting GPRS up is easy but Vodafone is funny even with the settings MMS can't be had (researched this issue before, seems like an issue - they probably fix it by customising the phone in their EXT rom).
Second problem, I have one email account (in my outlook PC) that I also use on the move via IMAP. I want my ONE email account on my pda, when synced, to copy the emails and if needed retrieve them via imap when on the move. I have never found out how to do this, as I can't seem to be able to add IMAP to the existing 'outlook' account. Only option is to have the standard outlook account which gets filled when synced, then have a second additional account which takes 10 mins to fill up with 100 old mails via imap and get up to date when on the move. I just want one email account that will a) sync via pc from my outlook account and b) when on the move sync via IMAP to 'top up' what is already there.
Third problem - the battery icon is optimistic, eg it says full when the battery is under 75%. The old one (on the top) was accurate. Anyone tell me how to fix this?
I feel I have come a long way from a novice and now need a bit of help fine tuning the above!
Greg.
I have an extensive address book and calendar. When syncing to my pc (Outlook & Windows 7) I am always getting a "not enough memory" (regardless of which rom I use). I have an 8gb memory card that I would like to utilize to free up some main memory. Any thoughts on how to do this (and yes I have searched)?
Hi All,
I've searched on this topic but can't find a full answer.
Seems it is possible to sync but not automatically as with WinMo.
Does anyone have the definitive answer?
Yes it will provided your company doesn't have any additional security demands.
I work for a company that imposes certain security rules that the Android Exchange sync doesn't support like forcing the device to have PIN to unlock the phone. Its to protect the email on the device in the event of lost or theft. It'll also permanently lock the device if 10 failed attempts are made. It can only be unlocked via our corporate mail server. So the thief or finder would have to re-flash the device in which case the corporate data would be gone from it and be safe.
If you company uses such security rules, you won't be able to use the integrated exchange sync. You can purchase the Exchange Sync app by Touchdown and it will work regardless of your security policies.
Yes it should by using HTC Sync ...my wife's Hero has no problems. However, she typically syncs Outlook with her Google account and the phone is automatically kept synced with that.
i think the desire has more advanced exchange intergration, check out the product description on htc's website
Your work email, calendar appointments, and contacts, are right there on your phone - you can even look up any company contact in the global address book. The HTC Desire also has enhanced support for Exchange security features such as password protection and remote data wipe

You are absolutely correct. I've been waiting for this for quite sometime. Thanks to your post, I decided to check the UK version of their website and found all the info on it there. Their US site doesn't appear to have any data for this device.

i'm using the Desire ROM on my Nexus One and - assuming no change in the Exchange features at production - it will have full exchange integration, including that FRIGGIN pin! i can't speak to the wipe features because i haven't tested that (and don't plan to, lol). since my Exchange email is from a personal account, i had my service provider disable the PIN requirement so i can use the pattern lock feature instead.
I don't believe it has [full] support for 'desktop' outlook sync? I used to use my WinMo device to sync to a work Exchange account but have had a blackberry so no need for that.
What I still need to do is sync to my home computer's Outlook via Active Sync to sync contacts, calendars, tasks, etc.
I believe the HTC Sync is a bit limited in this respect? The only answer that I get on searching the net is to use Google services, not really an ideal solution for those who do not/want to use it.
So is it possible to switch off syncing with google servers and just sync with the Outlook on my home PC?

What application do you use for syncing her Hero? I am using GSyncIT but I think it has limitations... and costs £10!

I think the poster mentioned that HTC Sync is used for this. Although I dont think it does Tasks?
MyLink
Just found this software (out in April):
http://www.wavestore.co.uk/index.php/products/mylink-desktop.html
The Advanced version is already out but lacks OTA sync'ing.
It's a bit sad that what I would consider to be a fundamental piece of software for any phone, for the foreseeable future, we will have to pay for. But a small price to pay for the other benefits of an Android phone.
If you want to Sync Outlook and Gmail I use GSyncIt - £10.
I don't really like the fact that Google doesn't support Tasks 'explicitly' (I believe it uses another instance of a calendar to achieve this?).
Not important to those who dont make use of tasks of course.

I was excited and then very disappointed. The Mylink software does a sync via a multi-step process.
after the USB connection...
Mount the SD
run the sync software on the PC
unmount the sd
run the sync app on the device
After that's all done, you can only access the sync'd data via a custom app.
MyLink is just useless
Is there a reason that there's no app that syncs with Desktop outlook, like Windows Mobile via Active Sync? Is there a restriction on using Active sync, or is the protocol unknown?
but HTC Sync does that surely?Thats what I'm hoping for anyway! I need to sync with TWO desktops (neither exchange) calendar and contacts, and preferably tasks. From what I've read HTC Sync will do calendar and contacts to a desktop PC via USB
It does. But, HTC Sync requires the HERO Framework, so stock android users are out of luck.

Too good to be true comes to mind now (!)
Title says it all. I was wondering if anyone has used the new Titanium app. Media Sync and what you liked or didn't like? Is it worth it? How is the battery drain using it?
Surprised that no has responded to this..
mmm... will have to try it myself
I'm using it but on milestone.
Seems good, works well for continuous remote backup of specific folder I,e, photos.
Apparently cannot set folders to continually synce down from the cloud though which is annoying as I wanted to leave it downloading videos from my desktop as they are converted while I sleep saving me from manual transfer time in the morning.
Bummer.
Works well
I'm using it on CM7 modded HTC Desire.
Works well.
Not a battery drainer because you can set it to sync only when you are powered, (or not if you prefer).
Syncs to FTP and Dropbox. I tested both and it works.
'Set it and forget it' (and if you want you can even turn the notifications off.
Worth the $.
Regards,
Jan
Great app but does anybody know if it is somehow possible to limit the upload bandwith?
Thx!
I just tried out Titanium Media Sync (on HTC Desire) and was annoyed to learn that you only have limited options for the sync (currently "continuous" and "single one way"). I needed the app to upload (and unload) photos and videos from the device to a network location, ultimately to free up space on the device. However, with the continous sync, any files deleted on the device will result in deletion on the network as well; which does not provide much of a backup.
I ended up with Syncness, which is exactly what I needed. You can even configure it to sync only with specific networks, at specific hours of the day, only at A/C power, etc. (the latter is in all fairness also supported by Titanium). I can even save original file dates/info to the remote location.
Titanium has a nicer user interface but that's not worth much when the program doesn't do what I need it to do.

Syncness and Titanium Media Sync are not the same!
Syncness supports Dropbox & Windows Share (Samba) networks and works ONLY while connected to WiFi, while Titanium works on both 3G & WiFi and supports Dropbox, FTP, SFTP, FTPS servers.
It's really a shame that Titanium doesn't suport two-way sync.
I would really like to see a whole package sync
I just got titanium media sync but i have trouble adding my adrive account to it. CAN ANYONE HELP ME HOW TO DO IT???
Thank you!
I am trying to decide between Syncness and Ti media sync right now. Basically want this to automatically sync my external and internal SD cards to my PCas a backup in case I lose my phone.
I like that ti media sync can do this without being on the same network since I do have an ftp share. How reliable is it? Seems none of these sync apps are considered very reliable. Does it have to run all the time or can you set it to only sync at a set time?

Thanks. Are you running your FTP server on a PC? I set my Windows 7 PC up as a FTP server. When I drag a folder from local to remote, it says failed to create folder. Any idea what the problem might be?
Pete
I've been using Titanium Media Sync (TMS) for some time syncing one way continuous via FTP to my Windows 7 PC. I've encountered a real nuisance which I hope is solvable. Basically the phone and PC are always on the same LAN, but the LAN may change from time to time when traveling. I've found no easy way of modifying the account with new IP address of PC. The PC does have a name on the LAN. I'm wondering how to specify the name (within TMS) instead of the IP address. That way the phone would always find my PC. At the moment, I must delete all the sync'd folders and the account and start over with a new account and set of folders. This also requires deleting all the previously backed up data from PC. There must be a better way! Suggestions appreciated.
Pete
