i was just wondering if after i root i can still have the phone look as if it had sense ui... I assume that's what the Stock ROM does but I'd like to make sure.
Also is there a froyo theme that looks like the sense ui?
Thanks for the help in advance

Gaining root doesn't change the version of android you have running, it just gives you root access. For example, I have root access on my Evo, so I can use screenshot or wireless tether apps, but I'm still running the Sense UI that came with the phone.
To lose Sense UI, you would have to flash a new ROM onto the phone.
Oh I see! thank you!

Is there anyone willing or able to port the Hero theme to the stock MT3G ROM?
stock as in, non-rooted? i dont think it's possible to apply themes to non-rooted phones, so porting wouldnt help. but if u are rooted, you can just flash any of the themes without having to port them.

I'm talking about the stock rom that has been slightly modified for root. There are now a couple of them floating around. Only modified boot.img for root and added the file (forgot name) for wifi tether. Thus far, it is the fastest rom for the MT3G but I hate the stock look.
Also it uses odex files, so most themes will not work.
i would like to add my request as well. i have the slightly modded stock (adds root and wifi tethering). thanks!
16gb for hero roms?
does anyone have an idea what would be a good partition set up for a 16gb sdcard for the hero rom?
also it is a class 6 if that makes any difference....
Im running the same rom i think its artizans rom, slightly modified with wifi tether and root (runs the fastest boots up faster then the other stock tmo rooted one) i just want some themes??
I'd like to know which files do I need to install the stock vanilla android contacts and dailer apps on a rooted 2.2 sense ROM?
I see there are some ROMs out there that do have SENSE + the stock contacts and dailer.

The OTA added wifi calling, wifi hotspot built in, and new kernel. There is no reason to use the pre ota, I'm gonna put a pre ota back up when I get a chance, just cause.
First of all, thanks for your work.
Question: I did not use this particular ROM but I did flash a stock G2 ROM - is there any way to get rid of the hideous G2 picture that is displayed during boot?

HAHA, yes, on stock android roms like this, if you go into you /system/media folder, you will see bootanamation.zip, replace that with a custom one.
I haven't been over to the theme section to see if any custom ones were made yet or not. You can make your own, just search these forums how. The directions are in g1 theme section for sure, u could prob use one from there, just not sure how good it will look due to screen res being different. Maybe try one from n1 or evo theme section...
New version plus universal theme template now up.
First off if this is the wrong place for this thread im sorry.
But moving on! Im wondering if it's possible to port over the sense 2.0 from the thunderbolt to run on the evo 4G running the new 2.3.3 stock aos? I have the same SD card I had in my thunderbolt and I have all the backup files from titanium so I should have everything as far as software goes for 2.0 if im wrong someone please let me know what all I need...but all that being said if there is anyway possible that this can be done I'd love to do it make it my project or atleast give it a shot .... Idk maybe im just making myself look like a retard... But any help/advice/tips would be great thanks!
You could just flash one of the Sense 2.1/3.0 Gingerbread roms. Would probably be a lot easier.
Restoring system apps/data from one device on another entirely different device doesn't sound like the best idea.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
I would love to be able to flash a rom but therein lies the problem im on 2.3.3 which doesn't have root or s- off "yet" i was gonna truly and run sense 2.0 or 3.0 as a shell or theme kind of like spb shell for nonrooted users so no adding, changing, or replacing system .apk files or changing the build at all.

I'm pretty sure that wont work, but the idea behind it is good. To get a new version of Sense working you will need root access.
Yeah that's what i figured... this is so irritating is the first time I haven't had root access in forever! Can't get any work done!
Im kinda considering getting together with some devs and tryin to build a whole new sense based rom
Close this thread please moderators!!
Hello all,
I like many others, I have installed the new GB ROM from the RUU supplied by HTC and it is "OK". However, i would like something else.
I have seen many guide to install ROMS and it seems more or less clear.
My problem, and maybe the problem for other noobs if the fact that there are so many ROMs out there. It is difficult to know which one to take.
For example, I am looking for plain old stock android 2.3 for the desire. No sense, no extra HTC apps. Just what google would have on the nexus 1. But, I cant figure out which ROM fits that.
Any ideas?
What would be great is sticky which lists the ROMs and their main features for all us noobs. Unless there is one already and I didnt see it
Get Oxygen Rom mate its nice and basic , if u want to go too basic get DevNull
But for starters i think u shud go with oxygen
Pm me if u want to discuss any other details

Well, if you installed official Gingerbread 3.14.405.1 RUU, you can't get root (yet). No root means that you can't install custom rom.

watch the video tutorial too - but it sounds like you want an AOSP rom
Yup, you definitely wanna try Oxygen + it was recently updated to Android 2.3.5.
It's sense free, all bloatware removed, very fast & minimalistic.
http://forum.oxygen.im/viewtopic.php?id=149 (it wasn't updated on XDA yet, but you can download it from there)
CyanogenMod7 will also fit you.
Should have read into what you were doing before you updated. You can't root now, which means no custom ROMs for you. HTC updated HBOOT so no more rooting for the time being. You're stuck with it till someone cracks it. Unlucky dude.
My recommendation:
Sense (2.1+3.0) : InsertCoin 1.0.9
AOSP: Oxygen
no MIUI from me...sorry..
Thanks for all the replies. I am pretty sure it is only a matter of days or weeks at most until I can root. I recall the same situation last update.
It sounds like oxygen is the way to go. Once the root is available I will give it a shot. Thanks.
