Searching for a battery-wear-status application

I'm looking for an application that will show me my batterystatus, I have a special intrest in an app. that'll show me the battery wear...
There is an similar app. for notebooks (MobileMeter) which can be downloaded at http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/
I'm already using the BatteryStatus app. from http://www.chi-tai.info but it lackes the wear-level in which I'm interested.
Personally I would like to know what the wear of my battery is, so I can buy a new battery or try another cooked ROM.
Speaking of cooked ROM's where has Schaps gone to? Kinda mis him with his great ROM's... He broke his Hermes or got disconnected from the internet or what?
Try this, down a couple of posts.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320780
You could try this
http://www.acbpocketsoft.com/Products/acbPowerMeter/acbPowerMeter-Overview-2.html
It doesn't have a status indicator but it is very useful in tracking battery drain.
Walt
It's not what I'm searching for.
Using the Chi-tai program I can see how full my battery is.
I would like to know the wear of the battery.
So basicly I need a program that will get the designed capacity from the battery (say 4400 miliamps), then it should fully load the battery and measure the real capacity (say 4000miliamps), then it would have to calculate the diference. (In the given example the batterywear would be approx. 10%).
(I have the idea's but not the programming-skills )

What is using my battery??? not a whine thread

I have been getting terrible battery life since I mistakenly reset the battery statistics in recovery.
I have recalibrated my battery, but I am only getting like 8 hours.
What can I use to see what is using the battery? I think there is something in spare parts, but I am not sure what to look at there.
Any apps or methods would help me determine what is chewing it up is much appreciated.

It could just be that your phone is incorrectly reporting how much battery life you have since you reset them, and a couple days of usage will just allow it to gather more data and get more accurate.
But if there is an errant app draining your battery, a combination of spare parts and an app called SystemPanel should allow you to narrow it down to what's causing problems.
Plug your phone in for a minute, then unplug it, let the phone sit with the screen off for 25 minutes or so, then go to spare parts->Battery History, then choose other usage and since last unplugged. The running % should be close to the screen on %. If the running % is way higher than screen on, that means something is running while your screen is off.
I paid for the full version of systempanel for the system monitoring feature, but i think you can use the free version to just check which apps are running. Things like google voice should say running, but just about everything else should say background. If you have an app that you downloaded, but haven't been using in a while saying service, there's a good chance that's what's causing your phone to run the batteries out. Garbage apps like Grooveshark (which I still use because I can't live without grooveshark) will run even after you could have sworn you closed out of them.
The paid version of systempanel makes things easier because you can set it to monitor, then come back and look at what apps have been using cpu cycles even when the phone isn't being used. The system processes are always going to use cpu cycles, but apps like Swype will (or did at one point) keep the phone from properly sleeping, and you can tell by all the cpu they're using even when the screen is off.
Ah, that is a good point. 2 apps that I did change were I installed Tiger Text (neat app but rather sure that drains the juice) and I put on a different version of swype.
Thanks for the tips, I will run with that.
More reading I am doing I think the mistake I made, is that I reset my battery statistics when my battery was only half full.
I put in a full battery, reset statistics, and will let it drain, that should calibrate the phone correctly.
Thanks for the tips though, I will keep those in mind.

Extended Battery Charge Reporting Sucks

I charged my Samsung extended battery to full then reset the battery stats but my battery reporting is still terrible after 3 days. As soon as I unplug it from the charger it is automatically at 98% and drops quite rapidly.(~3% every 5 minutes of active use)
Would allowing the battery discharge to automatic shutoff alleviate this problem? That hasn't happened naturally yet
That can be normal behaviour. Mine does it sometimes too. 95% and up on any phone will be that accurate. As for your drainage problems, your phine is doing something heavy duty in the background. And/or you are running full brightness. I am getting 4.5 screen time on average. I was able to get over 5 hours this weekend. For me to get 3% every five minutes i have to be playing a game or been downloading a large file over cellular data.

Seems like you either have a bad device or you have an app or two that is killing you. Something that gets push notifications for example, like a messenger or something similar

I have been experiencing this as well, my stock 1850mA battery seems to outlast my extended 2100mA battery by about 20%. Has anyone else seen this behavior? I have been thinking that maybe I got a bad battery.

I have just installed Battery Monitor Widget as recommended in a battery related thread in this forum, and it is showing my extended battery as having 1750mAH. I don't know why and I'm not sure what to do to fix it, and my battery life is pretty awful.

Battery Monitor Widget allows you to manually change the battery capacity.
Touch the gear symbol, select ""Monitoring", then "Battery capacity". Enter 2100 if you have the CDMA extended battery.
Yes, I saw this - but if it's getting the capacity from the phone, and the phone is reporting 1750, isn't something wrong? Doesn't that mean it will stop charging the phone prematurely because it thinks it is at max capacity?
In fact, I just remembered the stock battery is 1850 mAH so I have no idea where the 1750 is coming from...
Thanks for your reply.

its coming from the GSM version because it has a 1750 mAh battery.
battery monitor widget is not pulling from the chip inside the battery, it is just guessing your capacity because it knows its a galaxy nexus. hence you have to manually enter your correct capacity into battery monitor widget yourself.
also remember this fuel gauge is not capable of giving current readings. so battery monitor widget is guesstimating current based on extrapolating the drop in your percentage among other tricks the developer uses.
Thank you very much for your reply. It makes sense what you're saying, I took the setting in BMW literally as it states:
"Override capacity provided by phone"
Thanks to both of you for the help. Now I still need to find out why my battery life is sooooo bad...

from a terminal, you can dump system power statistics.
$su
#dumpsys power
the mLocks at the very bottom should be 0, meaning nothing is preventing your phone from entering deep sleep.

Huge battery drain (i think)

Is it normal that i've already lost more than 70% in 3 hours!
But i have to say that im using my phone realy hard those 3 hours: mobile data on, playing games, surfing on the internet, download few apps
Im on stock rom

Wow thats a lot, but the Tegra 3 One X is a power hungry beast... It might just be normal.
Its hard to asses if something is wrong from a distance, you might wanna try an app like Better battery Stats to check whats responsible for this battery drain.

If you had the screen on for most of that time, it's normal.

That's probably about right, I get about 4 hours of continuous use, less gaming.
If it's playing games then I wouldn't be suprised, I experience the same, Tegra 3 really does drain the tiny battery of the One X especially on the high res screen.
It is possible though that your battery may also be wrongly calibrated, so if you have root, then get battery calibrator from the playstore and let it do it's thing, otherwise you can get currentWidget and use the reading to determine when the battery is fully charged (i.e. the mAh value is close to 0) and see if that helps.
I have only played 1 game for maximum half an hour.
Can you please tell me how to use Better Battery Stats I don't understand it.

I haven't used Bettery Battery stats but if you get Current Widget, then put the widget on your homescreen, click on the widge until you see a "mAh" reading which indicates how much it is charging. Charge your phone, if after reaching 100% the value is still high and not close to 0 then it could be a sign of batter miscalibration, in that case, just let it keep on charging until you see the mAh value go close to 0 or possibly less than 10.

Could over charging my device cause some sort of power cable damage inside the phone?
I had to send my device back for repairs due to unexpected shutdown, and they told me the battery cables were soldered again.
You can't overcharge it without dismantling the battery.

[Q] Two batteries - configure capacity in android ?

I just got one of these extended 3600mAh batteries for my i927, and now i wonder if there is any way to tell the phone/android when/if i am swapping batteries and therefore changing capacity of the battery.
So far, the only thing i found was a way in CWM to reset the battery stats. I now try to train the phone to the new 3600mAh battery, but if i ever should even just temporarily swap it against the older 1800mAh battery, then the stats will get totally screwed up again, right ?
So, any app to maybe store and recall the battery stats ? Then it would be possible to train the phone independendly for each battery, store the stats, and accordingly use the app to recall the battery stats after swapping it.
Thanks
It's not the phone that gets trained, but an IC in the battery itself. Each battery has an embedded processor that tracks current charge levels using a semi-predictive algorithm. That's what the third conductor is for -- it's a one-wire serial connection between the phone and the IC inside the battery. So when you switch batteries, you're also switching the IC that's tracking the battery's charge.
The batterystats.bin on the phone is just statistics tracking for what is using power, how much, and how often. These are the stats you see in Settings -> Battery and have nothing to do with current charge levels, actual or displayed.
tl;dr: It doesn't work that way. Swap your batteries freely and don't worry about it.
Brightness taking the battery?
Is there an app or tweak that will let me turn down the "ambience" on my captivate? I mean, on my old iPod (I know, right ) there was a Cydia app that allowed me to set a certain time for when the brightness would kind of "lower the hue" and made it look kinda like a old style fleurescent light. Kind of amber in color.
In my battery manager, the screen takes up MORE than 50% of my battery life, and I was wondering if there was a way to do that, instead of having to manually turn up the brightness when I need to. It's currently all the way down, and yet STILL ueses a bunch of battery.
Anyone?
I use the Lux app from the app store and it does this. At a certain time it will transition to a warmer color that you set and it also has many settings for light dimming based on a number of factors. You can also set the output to sub zero.
