Hello guys
I like to show a notifaction (or a notifyIcon) like cell state or the battery state?
With the Notification class in the .net cf I could just send an info text to the user and it's shown like the battery state. And the OpenNETCF's NotifyIcon does just nothing on my HD2 or emulator.
I also like to have a button next to the state to provide fast access to my app (like the Comm Manager).
Thanks

Was running ATT WM5 and all was well. Flashed to Offical ATT WM6 using SPL2.1. Now I'm at ROM 3.62.502.3 1.54.07.00 32.86u.7020.23H. At this point, still ok. Installed PPTFix to remap button 5 to Voice Speed Dial and setup Plantronics head set. Still ok. Added some email accounts and a customized background. All ok. Synced Contacts, Notes, etc. Still ok. Decided I didn't like the Comm and Battery Icons on the bottom tray and ran MobileRegistryEditor and changed values from 1 to 0. Still ok the rest of afternoon and last night.
Got up this morning, did a soft reset, and everything went to hell. Booted normally up to the green Windows screen, then hung there for 3 or 4 minutes. Finally got to the Today screen, but all apps run like honey on a cold morning. I can use VoiceCommand to place calls and I can Dial out Manually, but if I tap my contacts button, no contacts show up. Email won't send/receive, but I can get incoming calls. Today screen shows correct appointments and task, but tap Calandar and they don't show up there.
Before I do anything else, I wanted to get some ideas on where to start.
Pretty sure hiding the comm manager was your problem
I'm pretty sure hiding the comm manager icon was your problem, I've heard there are numerous problems when you hide the comm manager icon. Change that key back and see if your problems go away.
KarhU said on the ROM benchmark :
6. Never hide the WirelessManager Tray Icon at the bottom.
Don't believe me?
Try it and feel the difference.
This is the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000 ;<--- (dword:00000000 to hide and dword:00000001 to show)
Yeah, I've seen this issue in many of the recent WM6 ROM Threads. It's a true shame, since it means we're stuck with having to keep the bottom tray visible. I (for one) do not like that waste of screen space.
Too bad the fix for this anomaly is so elusive.

Thanks for the help. It looks like the Comm Mgr icon may have been the problem. My 8525 wouldn't connect to the Internet, Email or (thru Active Sync) to my desktop. Finally went into Settings/System/Clear Storage and it completely reloaded WM6. Reinstalled all my extra apps and things are fine. Of course I haven't tried to edit the registry and get rid of those bottom icons, and I don't think I'm going to. If anyone finds a sure method to get rid of the bottom system tray, please post.
Hi.
I have been a lurker for many months, reading everything I could on the forum before getting my Verizon XV6900. I have had the phone for 3 1/2 weeks and have tried out many 3rd party apps and spent time trying to determine what was most important and useful to me. At this point I could use some opinions from those more experienced than I with these software apps and putting all this together under a unified theme or Skin? Any help , thoughts or opinions will be most appreciated, so thank you in advance.
Display Items that are most important to have at a quick glance and easy access to:
Phone Button with call history and functional call wait and reverse
Date-next appt. and access to Calendar (not sure which calendar been using standard)
Time-next alarm and access to alarms for changes
Missed calls and Voce mail button
SMS, MMS,and Email all with counts
Battery -I use the device a lot and need to know how where power is.
Bluetooth On/Off (I wear a bluetooth headset all day and almost always use on calls).
Phone Profiles to quickly silence phone or change to vibrate only.
Contacts Button I have been using Pocket CM and would like to default to it for contacts as well as Pocket CM keyboard with 2many skin.
Programs Button to get to other programs
*Things that would be nice and are somewhat important:
Speed dial with Face Contacts
Weather tab
3rd party programs I have tried like and use:
Sprite backup
S2U2, S2V, S2P
Windows Live search
Jive talk
Skyfire
pocket CM and PCM Keyboard with 2many skin and default IM cab to select
SK Tools
Total Commander
Programs and UI's I have tried but am not sure about:
SPB MS2.1-just not sure about this one in it's stock config, maybe a skin would help? It also used a lot of battery power.
Ultimate Launch -couldn't figure out how to set this up with other programs in a useful way but I liked and was impressed with how the program looked.
Point UI- loved it but it was sucking the life out of my battery and screwing my bluetooth headset-missing calls.
Phone Alarm and SPB Phone Suite - Phone suite messed up my phone ringer? Phone Alarm did not. I can barely read Phone Alarm- icons are way too small, maybe a replacement skin? Or do I need these at all?
Mem Maid- I have been using both this and SK Tools and I am not sure which is the better program? They both seem to do the same things?
Programs I uninstalled:
HHC Customizer- Didn't use
Mort Buttons, Script and Player-way too much of a novice at this point to figure them out.
Skype- didnt work
Anybody knows an apps that shows discharging status for tp2?
Battery status, tbattery, and acb power meter dont works..
Thanks..
If you have a program, like SKTOOLS or RESCO EXPLORER. you could change the registry:
Go to : HKLM\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER change the value DLL of NotificationManager.dll to NotificationManagerNew.dll
Soft-reset your phone, and you will be able to see the battery status when you tap on it
I believe you misunderstood my question, it's not about getting rid notification manager, but an app that can show how much mAh my device use..
Maybe NueBattery?
doesn't work either.
acb power meter (free) works for me.
anyone knows?
Getting a GPS-Fix can take a long time especially with an internal GPS receiver. If you are moving, it will even take longer to get the GPS-Fix, so when using a navi like TomTom you should wait for the fix (between a few seconds and more than 20 minutes) befor you start your trip. And when you switch of your phone (standby) or even when you close the application, the GPS module will shut off immediately. When you restart your application or switch on the phone you will have to wait to get a new GPS-fix. This will be quit fast but still annoying. I like to take geotagged pictures (footprints) but befor taking the first picture I have to wait a few minutes and if I don't keep my phone switched on all the time I have to wait another 20 seconds for each next picture.
As far as I know, there are two reasons for the GPS module to get switched of:
1. When short pressing power button (suspend state) or not useing the phone for a few minutes (unattended state) the GPS module gets switched off. This can be fixed quit easily by using these reg-keys (I am not sure if "GPS0:", "GPD0:" and "COM4:" are realy all needed?!). But this only helps if the program which uses the GPS module keeps on running even if the phone is in suspend because of the second reason:
2. When closing the last program which uses GPS, the GPS module gets switched off as well. With some programs you don't even have to close them. When you switch of your phone most of the programs (like TomTom) enter suspend state not using GPS anymore and the GPS module is shut off even if you use the reg-keys from above just because there is no program using GPS in that situation.
A small program together with the reg-keys should do the trick. This program should always run even if the phone is in suspend mode and it should interact with the MS GPS intermediat driver all the time to keep GPS alive.
Features:
- run as a service
The program should always run (hidden from taskmanager) but must not be active (keeping GPS alive) all the time.
- taskbar integration (WM6.5.x compatible)
There should be a symbol in the taskbar indicating the status of the program. Something like red for inactive, yellow for active/connecting and green for active with gps-fix. Pressing the icon should bring up a menu for activate, deactivate and config.
- Program to switch between active and inactive
With such a program it would be possible to switch the program state with an applauncher or via mortscript or you can map this program to a hardware-button. Maybe parameters like "on", "off" and "toggle" can be used with a shortcut?!
Nice to have:
- status led
Configure one of the phones LEDs as an indicator for this service. LED off = service inactive, LED blinking = connecting, LED on = GPS fix.
- auto off
User can choose after how many hours the service will deactivte itself (GPS is still usable but not always on).
- scheduler
Who needs GPS when sleeping or during work?
- multilingual
I could do the german translation!
- gps-tracking
The frequency and the location of the logfile should be configurable and there should be more parameters for the programswitcher: "trackon", "trackoff", "tracktoggle". The taskbaricon should indicate the status of the tracker as well.
- prevent suspend when switching off the phone
Programs like tomtom would keep on running even if you press the powerbutton and you could use it for audio-navigation. With the display shut off the power consumption should be much less.
These are just a few ideas I had when thinking about this program. I already searched the forum and found this interesting thread. It's the one with the reg-keys. If someone is willing to write this program he may find some useful information in that thread
Does such a program already exist? Isn't it a good idea? Will someone write this program?
PS: Sorry for my bad english!

Looks very promissing but I still have to do a bit more testing.
Hi all,
I've a Samsung SGS and I got the offical 2.2 update then rooted with z4root and installed OCLF. What a difference, the phone absolutely flies along.
Since then I've replaced the stock dialer with "Dialer One" which works really well (I tried aTAKEphONE but didn't like it), installed the Whatsapp IM client as a lot of my contacts have BlackBerry's and Whatsapp is a cross platform IM client and also installed the PhoneUseage app to keep track of my VF plan and not allow them to screw me each month for out of plan useage.
I now have two problems which I feel are related to installation of the above apps but have no way of proving it.
1. From time to time when I hit the "Home" icon the phone returns to the home screen but only displays the bottom four apps and it takes up to 20 seconds to refresh the home screens (I have a total of 5 home screens) with the other icons and widgets. This is a serious Lag which seems to be preceeded very briefly by the aplication I am exiting blowing up in size by a huge magnitude i.e. if I am running the Internet app and I hit the home screen for an instant the internet page I was looking at appears to zoom in to the maximum amount (literally a split second) then it switches to the main home screen with just the four bottom apps and then up to 20 seconds later the rest of the homescreen icons and widgets appear. During the 20 seconds the phone seems 'hung' but afterwards it flies along again. This only happens intermittently and not on exiting any one particular application as far as I can tell. Thoughts anyone?
2. I am unable to remove the missed calls notification from either the drop down notification area (when I tap on the notification it doesn't bring me to the missed calls list on Dialer One) and the same applies to the orange jigsaw notification if the phone is locked i.e. if I unlock by moving the orange jigsaw piece with the number of missed calls on it to the appropriate spot when I lock the screen again and go to unlock it I am still presented with the missed calls jigsaw. I suspect this has something to do with the notification actions looking for the stock dialer app whereas I'm running Dialer One but I'd appreciate your thougths if you've had a similar issue and how you resolved it. The only way I'm able to remove the missed calls notifications is by doing a battery pull which is a royal pain in the ass.
Lastly, I'd appreciate it if someone can tell me why certain apps show up in the list of apps displayed by the Automatic Task Killer app and others don't? Dialer One being a good example. I've installed the app and it's now my default dialer but it doesn't show up in the Automatic Task Killer list of apps, same with the Whatsapp IM app.
I look forward to getting your thoughts.
Ben
try replacing oclf with z4mod...
Well you do use apps that's mess with you system.
You don't need an other task killer.
I don't think its Oclf fault.
But you can always try a custom kernel and a better lagfix.
