Guys, I unlocked and rooted my Galaxy Nexus but kept everything stock. Downloaded ROM manager and the first thing I did was make a recovery for myself. A few days later, when the 4.04 zip was leaked onto the forums, I downloaded the file and flashed it. I havent messed with anything since.
Come today, I tried to do another back up in ROM manger but my phone does nothing after I execute the commands. Then I tried to reboot into recovery, but nothing happens.
I was able to get into recovery manually (holding down the volume up AND down keys with power button) and when I selected "Recovery" all I got was the android with an open chest plate with a Red Triangle and Black exclaimation point. Screen stayed like that and eventually booted up normally.
I tried to follow the steps listed in this thread to delete /system/recovery........p file and then reinstall cwm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399265
but the problem I'm having is that I am when I try to delete that file with Root Explorer with the mount set to R/W, I get a msg that says it cant be deleted because its read only.
Did I lose root access by flashing 4.04? Is there a way to fix that? I'm still relatively new to all of this so if anyone can tell me whats up in a dumbed down way I'm all ears.
Thanks,
Appa
Emm, there's no need to delete old recovery. Just download recovery image you like, place it o your PC, reboot phone into bootloader and flash recovery.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
But I think that's the problem: when I try to get into recovery, I get the dead android guy with the red exclamation point And phone just reboots

Press both volume up and down + power button when you see that. It will bring up the menu.
Flash Clockwork, boot into recovery, and Flash a custom rooted rom.

All updates revoke your root access, and replace any custom recovery with the stock recovery (which is the little android with the !). You will need to re-root after every update, and you will need to delete the following files (/system/recovery-from-boot.p and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh) after every update, and you will need to re-flash your custom recovery after deleting those files.
P.S. To access the menu in the stock recovery, when you are at the screen with the android, hold the volume up key and press the power button.
I unlocked today the Bootloader after that I installed SU and Recovery, I transferred the Venom One M8 Rom to the SD card and installed from the recovery
The install was fine but when the phone did reboot my screen was stock on Venom boot and phone can't to turn on or off
and all what I can to do is waiting for my battery will come to the end
After I waited for that, I turn on my phone and he goes to the recovery first and now I can't to find my SD card, I cant to turn on the phone and I cant go back to the Factory Setting
More one thing the phone at start show me a red message
this build is for development purposes only do not distribute outside of htc without HTC's written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action
thanks for helping
Hold power button+ volume up for around 10 seconds. When the screen goes dark, let go of both and immediately press volume down. That should get you into Hboot. Boot into recovery and flash your nandroid backup. Then start doing a lot of reading about updating firmware before flashing these latest ROMs.
Hi guys, months ago i rooted my HTC 526G with Kingoroot. I later tried to update the software over wifi. It updated but in restarting its now stuck in boot screen and sometimes goes into recovery by itself. Is there a way I can revive the firmware? Any help appreciated
HTC Desire 526G
I have problem like this ....cant fix it
Warning/Disclaimer: This will erase everything you have on the phones internal memory. (if you have play store set up right, you can just log back in afterwards and it will pull all your data/apps back, however if you don't, make sure to backup any contacts, data, ect that may be on the phones storage before attempting this) (then again, if you were already trying to root, you should have had everything backed up already anyway )
Charge the device to at least 50% (or an hour or two at least if the battery was completely dead)
Hold the Volume Down Button, Press power button, keep holding the volume down button
Phone should boot into HBOOT or Download mode,
use the volume up and down buttons to highlight Recovery Mode
press power button to select Recovery Mode
Phone will reboot with a red triangle icon, press all three buttons at the SAME time (vol up, vol down, power)
use the volume up and down buttons to highlight Clear Data (Factory Reset) press power button to select, let it finish clearing /data/ and /cache/
Once this has completed, Pull the battery out, let it sit for like 30 seconds without the battery
Put battery back in
hold power button for a while until it vibrates, release power button
let it sit at the htc boot screen for 10 minutes phone should eventually move to the verizon boot screen (if it goes over 10 minutes on the htc screen, try procedure again)
Post here if you have any trouble.
Still have problems

i've done the procedure but unluckly i'm still having this problem, did someone fix the loop with this method? should i just wait for custom roms? :crying:
I had it happen to me after trying to root with just about every tool out there, mine would boot up but wouldn't go past the htc boot screen white background green htc. After I cleared the data a few times (at least 3) it came back up, try the procedure more than once. Also be patient and wait the full 10 minutes for it to come back up, sometimes it can be slow to load for the first time after this kind of wipe.

Try to root with "PhilZ Recovery by Ajit", search on google, i don't remember where i have download it, but it is an .exe file.
After you install it on your computer, you select USB debugging, and connect your phone to the computer, the rest of the process is auto.
After the installation process, the phone will autoreboot in recovery, here you will select ---> Advanced Function---> RE-root System (SuperSU).
After that, reboot, and install SuperSU from GooglePlay.
Success.
Root without boot loop (you may want to wipe Dalvid Cache before reboot after selecting root).
I hope this works for you ( it worked for me HTC desire 526g ).
Have a nice day.
IF you dont find the Philz, contact me, i wil send it to you.
Philz Recovery by ajit is designed for devices using the Mediatek processor; Sadly our 526 (no g, no +) uses a qualcomm processor. I do not recommend anyone to attempt to use "Philz recovery by Ajit" to attempt to root their HTC 526 as at best it will fail and at worse it will flash a non-compatible recovery and turn your device into a hard-brick.

My phone was also rooted using kingroot. I received an OTA update and I downloaded it. Once the download was complete, the phone restarted and got bootlooped. Occasionally, it goes into recovery. I tried factory resetting it several times as mentioned in the solution. But each time I turn the phone ON again after factory reset, it is looping. Its not stuck at the boot logo. Instead it reboots automatically and in some cases to recovery. So the wait-for-10-mins thing is not working for me.
1. I received a stock ROM from the Russian section of XDA. Will flashing that ROM using the stock recovery using "install update from SD card" help me recover my phone from bootloop?
2. Will flashing the stock ROM unroot the phone? Presently, even after the factory resetting, "check the software partition" option in recovery returns a message "error - system has root". So I was hoping that unroofing might fix the problem. Will it?
3. If the above method fails, is there any other method? Like flashing a custom recovery or flashing a custom ROM etc?
Please help me fix the phone. Thanks in advance.
I am experiencing the same problem and have tried everything to avail, will this devise ever work again its still stuck with a white screen and green HTC

Hey negomo. I just fixed the phone yesterday. It seems that installing an OTA update while the phone is rooted can result in a bootloop or bricking(as in my case). I fixed this issue by flashing a stock ROM of the HTC 526g which I got from another Russian forum in XDA. Anyway I am posting the link of that stock ROM here.
( I am not allowed to post link. So please delete the spaces to get the actual link)

Once you download it do the following procedure
1. Copy it to an SD card and insert the card in your phone.
2. Press power button+volume up key button to enter HBOOT menu (while turning on the phone, press power and vol up button instead of power button alone)
3. Choose recovery option and press volume down to enter
4. Press power button once to enter recovery
5. Choose "install update from SD card"
6. Wait till it finishes installation
7. Wipe cache
8. Reboot phone
PS: I had already done a factory reset from recovery menu. I don't know if that had helped.
This will bring your phone back to life. Give around 10 mins for the first boot.
I hope I was able to help you.
Hit thanks if I did.
how to know my device 526g or 526

thx you are pro ??my problem solved ??
Ok,
Was installing the viper rom on my M8, and for some reason, now my phone is stuck in a boot loop. Obviously the install went pear shaped. But now I cant even boot the phone into recovery mode.
Boot sequence now is: Google lettering appears on screen, followed by green android with the blue spinning shape in its chest, then the green android with the red triangle and black exclamation mark appears and the whole thing loops again.
When plugged into the PC its not recognized so I cant use adb to boot into recovery or try load another rom/wipe cache etc.
I've tried all combinations of power button & volume up/down to break the boot sequence, no joy.
Any ideas how to resolve, or do I have a very expensive paper-weight?
Cheers,
sombaht
Rest assured, if the screen comes on, the phone isn't bricked.
Red triangle with exclamation point is stock recovery.
What was your exact sequence, in detail? From bootloader unlock, install custom recovery, etc.
Was the phone on Lollipop when you unlocked the bootloader?
To reboot into bootloader (not recovery, there is no button sequence to boot directly into recovery on this device):
1) Hold power and vol up for several seconds to force a reboot
2) The moment the screen goes black to reboot, let go of the buttons, and only hold vol down
3) Don't let go of vol down until you are on the bootloader screen
4) Failure to get into bootloader is virtually always user error. You either started pressing vol down too late, or let go of it too early. Just repeat until you get it right.
But from there, as mentioned it sounds like you are on stock recovery. You will probably need to flash TWRP again via fastboot in order to do much more.
Did you flash a custom recovery before you flashed the rom?? Can you boot in the bootloader mode (turn of Device completely- turn on again and hold volume down all the time.. then you should be in the bootloader)?
And your phone is not really bricked
Edit: damn to slow should not write on the phone

My friend, did you flash it using stock recovery or custom recovery? if you did flash it using stock recovery you will meet this kind of problems. I suggest you try power button and down if im not mistaken and go to hboot and fastboot usb and connect to adb, type fastboot devices in cmd if it detects your device then you can flash TWRP , find any kind of custom rom for M8 and flash it. I also assume your bootloader is unlocked and driver is installed in your PC.
Problem solved. Redpoint73's key press combination worked!
Cheers,
sombaht
I have a 910V which stuck in bootloop, I flashed the stock 6.0.1, 5.1 firmware, using Odin, both of them loaded fine, so far I haven't seen any EMMC error or any other errors using Odin, I can go into recovery and I can do factory reset, but as soon it goes past Samsung logo it restart again. I swap batteries, there is no Sim, SD card in it, I don't have EFS backup. I also tried this N910VVRU2BOG5_VZW2BOG5_Verizon_USA_v5.0.1_Repair_Firmware still no go.
I am having the same issue, stock verizon, never rooted, no new apps installed / no reasons for boot loop... itll go as far as the verizon logo then immediately restart over and over again
using ODIN v3.12.3, I tried the following, all loaded none fixed the problem:
N910VVRU2CQI2_N910VVZW2CQI2_N910VVRU2CQI2_HOME.tar
N910VVRU2CPF3_N910VVZW2CPF3_N910VVRU2CPF3_HOME.tar
N910VVRU1BOAF_N910VVZW1BOAF_N910VVRU1BOAF_HOME.tar
N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_N910VVRU2BPA1_HOME.tar
in odin I uncheck the restart in the options tab
then start...
once done I turn phone off completely. Start phone with Power Button, Home Button, Volume +, then itll say installing then go to the menu -> Select in this menu "Wipe Cache Partition", then factory reset wipe, then I pull the battery and turn on. goes to boot loop every time...
then i tried this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/help/verizon-note-4-flash-odin-t3470166 POST #4 - still didnt work
tried many many things just gets to the verizon logo and restarts...
using odin to flash firmware only - dont know if anything else will help. open to suggestions...
Maybe you could try booting in safe mode.:
Put the phone in download mode.
Once in download mode, hold all buttons at once and keep holding them (power, volume up+down, and home). It will take you to a menu, one of the options is safe mode.
Once in safe mode you can install apps using adb install. If you can do that, then you can run the apps by starting their main activity.
