Hi,
I've been a member for a while now and I feel like I've gained more than I've given. I'd like to donate (monetarily, that is), but the site requires a paypal account. Due to the stupidity of paypal and a long dormant account that made me ineligible to reopen a paypal account, how do I donate? No, seriously, paypal will not let you open an account if you once had an account that literally you let just lie dormant and it was over X number of years old.
Any advice from the moderators would be appreciated.
perhaps if you contact svetius he can let you know about other donation options

I've heard that some mods here offer to receive donations for users without PayPal.
Is this true? I got offers for donations to buy Play, so I can develop more easily, but I can't receive money at the moment.
I can help you but then i would have to charge you a fee

Mods cannot do this in any official capacity. We do not sanction this or approve it in any way. If a member offers to collect donations on your behalf, then they do so unofficially.
Remember, you have no way to track how much is received and any disputes about it cannot be discussed on xda forums. Such a thing should be very carefully considered by the donators, receivers and final beneficiary. This has potential to end up in disputes and arguments!

I've always thought Paypal required you to be a registered non profit organization to accept donations. Has this changed or are all the users with a "donate to me" button in violation Paypal's TOS? Its hard to believe something so widespread on this forum could be violating the TOS, but a quick Google search turned up quite a few people who got in trouble with Paypal for taking donations and not being a non profit.
Whu? What does it mean?

Anyone may donate to you. Only non profit groups receive fee waivers or discounts from PayPal.

I did, well I guess my username gives away the rest. Oh well I don't really mind much. True that does show it is Verizon, but also give some hope that things may change in time? I've got my fingers crossed.
On a side note, I was drinking with a buddy who works on Android and he was saying that Kit Kat should alleviate some problems involving carriers. mostly with updates and having more congruency between release between carriers but also with things involving unlocking. No intricate details but that is what I've got. He seems really excited about it.
this is what they wrote to me
HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. We continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices.
Since the carriers personalize the phone at the last part of the process, they decide what will be included, and what features will be enabled and which wont. We apologize for this inconvenience, and if you want to, you may get in touch with Verizon Wireless through the following link:
http://support.verizonwireless.com/contact_us/
Thanks for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us through http://www.htc.com/us/contact/email/ or call us at +1-866-449-8358 from 8AM to 1AM ET, 7 days a week.
Have a great evening Jesse.
BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!
Everyone that emailed HTCDev to ***** about our situation is receiving one of those two canned responses. VZW has been doing this for years. They aren't going to stop anytime soon. The general rule of thumb with Verizon is that you're pretty much guaranteed not to have unlocked bootloaders/root for awhile after the device launches. There's been several mentions of an exploit being discovered by some Devs but that they are waiting for 4.3 to release so VZW can't patch. Have faith in the community. When will 4.3 release for our One? No idea. Knowing how punctual VZW is with updates we'll get it in September 2019.
When a member has been suspended, rejoining with another username is not allowed.
I'd like to ask how strictly this rule is enforced. Would the person always be suspended again without new cause?

There are reasons why they are suspended (ban) in the first place, and at the time of banning, Members are given a time frame for the banning period. So yes if they make another account while being on that ban, it is enforced and another banning would happen on the new account, no matter. And would have further action brought upon their first ban account.
Bottom-line, you get a banning, take it and see it out. If you disagree there is an appeal process link avail when the banned Member trys to log on, that would be the smart move if someone disagrees with the ban. And while waiting for the appeal, another smart move would be to wait it out...the appeal.
BTW you could of asked here with no issues, your question.

Thanks for the clarification.
I have compelling evidence of this occurring , would you like the details? If so can I present it via pm so as not to mention user names in this thread?
By all means, JJD's pm is always available. Yes please pm the details, you have and I'll look into this matter.
I'll close this thread, now. Thanks.
Judgment the unjustly.....
Mods.
My apologies, I wanted to read the thread on unlocking a Motorola Droid Turbo but I thought you had to join to do so. I will not be contributing anything and I do not plan on becoming a developer for Android Apps as cool as that might be.
So. please take whatever action is deemed appropriate with my registration.
Thank you very much for the thread about unlocking a Motorola Droid Turbo.
You don't have to be a developer to have an account here, I would argue 90-95% of people here are just regular users. If you want to delete your account, one of our admins can assist with that but I would encourage you to keep it; you never know when you will want to post something We welcome your presence regardless!
