To all developers: I need a Text Message Reply Algorithm. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone come up with a Text Message Algorithm, so that when my GF sends me one of those sappy, "Oh, I miss you so much!" or "My life would suck without you" that it will do an Auto search for the appropriate romantic reply and then send the reply per text message/email?
I get about 30 of those per day, and they are quite annoying. I want to respond something different, but I've learned you never tell a girl she is fat, even if she is fat!

Tell her that having sex with her is like watching the same movie over and over (preferably Ground Hog's Day). You'll stop getting them....

Omfg, too funny.
I think handcent will let you make a list of canned responses. Not exactly what you asked for but it might be a little easier

ROFL!! I think you should just let her know that even though you are her hobby, that your hobby is your phone.

You gotta be kidding me... If she's sending you 30 pointless messages a day then just don't reply because it sounds like someone's already a little coocoo for her cocopuff (ie the OP).
Or use handcent as was suggested previously.
Or better yet, use the SMS spammer and just spam I love you to her in 10 second intervals 24 hours a day. Give her a taste of her own medicine.

Tell her she texts like an 18 year old girl, Why doesn't she _____ like one. You can fill in the blank.
I'm pretty sure you won't be getting any more messages after that one either.

My Excalibur is useful because ...
I can use it as a makeshift mp3 player.
my Excalibur is useful because it's got my personality.
I would have to say it's huge for email. It keeps me up to date with my accounts on the fly. I also use it as a phone and texts. Once you go Qwerty you won't go back. I've used my own gps for my car that has touch screen and the Garmin is a whore of a keyboard at times. I'm still not sold on a phone with touchscreen. Hey but that's me.
A great travel toy. Movies, music, and games. If you have ever been waiting for a haircut or dentist office. It makes the time go by in a flash.
First HTC probably not my last.
XDA is the real deal. There are so many talented people here. I just try to pass on any knowledge I have picked up. It's the least one could do.

i use my dash for everything...otherwise i'd be pretty bored during class...
use it for music, somtimes travel directions..surfin the web n email mostly...and of course phone n texting...
The look and feel of dash in hand is big, one of the best built phones I've ever had. I use it for games, nes, snes, gameboy, sega, java and smartphone with over a thousand and counting on my phone lol. Sound quality in call is great especially on receiving end. Also use it to learn different languages, music and video's. My one stop source for entertainment!!! Well until my g1 gets here anyways
Haha well we have to see what the G1 has in store man, and did you get the black on for 299?

Is there an app for filtering text/calls from specific numbers?

First, if I see another "use the search" reply I'm gonna flip out...unless it's sarcasm because of me typing that. I have searched...and search, and searched, and searched. Not just on xda either.
All I want to know, is if there is an app, free, not free - WHATEVER - that can be set to delete/reject texts and call from a phone number you enter into the program. I'm sure someone would suggest it, but changing my phone number isn't an option...so after about 150 texts from the most obnoxious, stuck up, self centered.....yeah.....in the world, I need a way to keep their texts (and calls, but especially texts) from coming through.
And please don't say it isn't possible, because it is. My old Samsung had exactly that feature and it wasn't HALF the phone the Rhodium is.
So please, if anyone knows of one, please tell me and accept my apologies if my post seems rather blunt... It's been a stressful day and I don't sugar coat what I say when I'm frustrated.

just call your service provider and have them do it.prolly the easiest way.
Just called them, didn't realize they could do that (Sprint couldn't when I worked for them). They want to charge me $5 a month to do it... I'm already paying too much for AT&T's lousy service that works less than half the time. Guess I'll just keep searching and pay their monthly fee as a last resort.
Thanks bud.

i just told them i wasnt gonna pay that and if they wanted to lose 3 customers over 5 bucks a month be my guest. they cracked. i pay them nothing{not to mention got a new phone for free!!}
I'll try that when I call them tomorrow... Been a frustrating day.
i used kaspersky mobile security about a month ago, they have a 30 day free trial. im not sure if it will block phone calls, but it has a black and white list for text messages. it got kind of annoying to accept the first text from each different person, but maybe there was a way to add your phone book, or only worry about the black list page. had lots of extra features too you might find interesting. let me know what you think and post back for other people who have the same question!!
Use the following cab, its blocks both calls n text
Thanks for those two replies. Got some testing to do now. Thanks again!

Speech to Text

I unfortunately own the dreaded bugged Dell Venue Pro. On the plus side though, I have gotten to experience the amazing WinMo7 OS. I love it. I will stick with it when I move on to the next phone and just avoid the con-artists known as Dell.
With that said, one of the very few things that has let me down with WinMo7 and the Mango update, is the speech to text feature. I find it ridiculously inaccurate. I would say it works at about a 5% success rate and is so far off most of the time it is comical.
I was curious if everyone else is having great success with this feature or if it is just me (could be something with my voice or even could just be another bug with the Venue Pro Microphone). Would like to hear how the feature is working for everyone else. Thanks.
English is not my native langauge but it get most of my speech correct. So I have no problem with it.

First of all, as a sidenote, it's Windows Phone, not Windows Mobile. Anyways, text to speech worked pretty well the few times I used it. I noticed that the more clear I speak, the better it recognizes what I say. So no dialects, no mumbling.. I barely use it since I couldn't figure out how to use punctuation so it's kinda useless for me.
i was very excited about this at first, until I ran into the same problem. i keep using it occasionally, hoping it will get it right this time... but anything over 2 or 3 words and it always messes something up. i'm even sure to speak slowly and clearly. all it needs to do is mess one word up and its pointless. if i have to go in and correct something, that ends up taking longer than had i just typed in the first place.
Don't u mean windows phone. Also the dell venue pro is great with mango update, but that doesn't erase their past. Speech to text works well enough for me. Not sure what ur doing wrong but I don't have the big problems u state
Sent from my Venue Pro using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Yeah... Im not sure what the deal is. I don't have a lisp or anything like that .
Does anyone know if the core of the speech to text is shared with the music recognition feature also? Because that thing is buggy as hell to. For a while I would try to use it on songs and it would come back empty. I was starting to think that they just didnt have those songs in their library. But, then when a song was unrecognized, I would switch over to Shazam. Shazam would indicate what the song was, and if I clicked the Zune icon with in the app, it would take me right to the song in the Zune marketplace, so obviously the problem wasnt that they didn't 'carry' that song.
Other than when I have to use the phone to have it 'listen' and recognize what is being played or said, the OS is AMAZING.
In all honesty, I find the clearer and more diss-tinkt-lee I speak, the less it picks up.
It'll be something like this:
Me: Text (wife)
Phone: texting (wife)
Me: Want, to, get, pizza, tonight?
Phone: Went you bet pizza to knight. You can say send or start over.
Me: Start over.
Me: Wanna get pizzatonight
Phone: Wanna get pizza tonight
I kid you not, it picks up all the "gonnas" and what not. However for things longer than two sentences, it's a crap shoot.
-edit-
My guess is they purposely coded it to pick up more natural sounding speech patterns.
My favorite is when it takes everyday words and censors them because it thinks you drop so 4 letter bombs.
Example:
To Wife: You looked like a million dollars tonight.
What she gets: You looked like a *#&$&#@! tonight.
Goes over real well...
Works for me okay! I like it when its reading texts with "x's" at the end it reads "kisses" its so funny

I'll have to try this.. I wonder if it's true. I was getting frustrated, it seemed like the more deliberate I was the more it ****ed with me.
and I don't get you guys who are saying 'it works good enough'. it either works or doesn't, no? if it doesn't say what you want then it's useless.
I don't bother with speech to text, but what I miss from the old WM 6.5 was MS Voice Command. You can ask "what time is it?"; "what call did I missed?"; "what appointment do I have?", etc.. It would event alert my upcoming appointment by voice! I don't get why MS scraped that and gave us this handicapped voice thing. Why let Apple get all the credit for siri when Voice Command was able do 80% of that 4 years ago?
Don't give Siri too much credit, it was down for hours today....anywho, mine is 90% accurate...sometimes it amazes me that it picked up what I said, but occasionally it will translate some crazy stuff lol.

i'm sorry but more testing and this is atrocious.
my last two messages contained 'soon though i'm a' which was turned into 'sonoma'. SERIOUS?
and then 'eleven' it interpreted as 'lesson'. wrong amount of syllables, not even close.

It always makes me chuckle that it actually reads off f*ck and sh*t, etc. Even f*cking reads out loud and clear. However yeah, if I dictate a curse word, it replaces it with comic book swear symbols.

"soon though I'm a", what was the rest of your sentence? If it was something like "I'm a be at John's house", then that might be your problem. I wouldn't think that urban slang is coded in, making it think you meant something else.
Essentially, Tellme has gotten pretty good for American/British & Aussie accents.
I'm Chinese & my voice is of a higher pitch so Tellme only got it right 50% & assuming the Auto-gain on the Trophy or my Bluetooth headset doesnt attenuate my voice too much.
A Kiwi I know also have the same problem but you know what? It's a lot better now compared to a year ago & the key is to speak naturally.
It's actually working amazingly well for me which is surprising since I have an Australian accent. I find it strange that it's not working too well for you.
Eg, I said 'I'll meet you at the park in 30 minutes but I'll also be stopping for lunch on the way' and it came out as 'I'll meet you at the park in 30 minutes but I'll also be stopping for lunch on my way'. I actually said this quickly (normal conversation speed), and it came out almost perfect. Even with the error (if you could even call it that) the sentence still made perfect sense..
I've found that the slower and clearer i speak the worse it is.
If i just speak normaly to it, it gets it pretty good.
i wonder if this is the issue for me?
are the phone sold with an accent filter?
I'm an Aussie but i live in the UK and i bought my mobile through O2. is there a way to tell the phone to "listen" for an Aussie accent?
I don't think we need something like Siri on WP7, it's a gimmick imo.

it's marketed as a gimmick but there's no doubt its a useful feature. its capabilities are way beyond Tellme where you have to start off with 1 of only 4 keywords to start an action. i'll give it another few years though until anyone puts out a voice system that is truly useful and accurate.
i will give siri extra credit though.. my brother was messing around with it, and even when he gave commands it wouldn't recognize, it would exactly repeat what he said no matter how bizarre or quick he would talk. i'd imagine it must work well for voice to text.

Can I get out of a "group message"?

My brother-in-law sent me a "funny picture", along with about 10 other people. Since it was a MMS, it's was sent as a group MMS, so now every time someone replies to it, I get the reply too... Now they're making dinner and weekend plans and just talking back and forth by replying and it's been going on for about 2 hours.
How can I stop it? Or do I just have to wait for it to "die out"?

I dont think you can but I would like to know as well. I'm no expert but I know enough that if there was an option out I would have found it. So far no luck.
(now someone please prove my no expertness comment) :fingers-crossed:

Cannot receive text messages from iPhone users using iMessage.

First thing you need to know is that I've never owned an Apple device. I've been having this issue ever since Apple upgraded to iOS 6 & 7. My girlfriend and some of my friends are iPhone users, and sometimes they send me messages but I receive them late or even never receive them at all. Sometimes I get their text that got mixed with a text that they sent sometime before (even from convos that are days or weeks old) in the SAME message (WTF?). I event get spammed by the same message 5+ times, example http://i.imgur.com/ij8GtPu.jpg which is annoying and ridiculous!
Ive searched the web and did not find a single solution, only thousands of people complaining with no fix. The only solution to this is to use another chat app with the other person, which is really hard to convince someone to do that. Especially Apple fanboys and fangirls like my GF. I suggested Whatsapp or Hangouts and even suggested her to disable iMessage (there's a feature that lets you disable the iMessage feature so the iMessage app only sends SMS to the users) which my GF denied also. -_-
TLDR: I don't get texts and people wait for me to respond and think that I'm ignoring them or I get spammed. How to fix pls?
Edit #1: I've never been an Apple user so "disconnecting" my number from iMessage by sending a "STOP" text to 48369 probably wont help. BUT I did try it today and we'll see if that works lol...
Edit #2: Oh the irony... http://i.imgur.com/7gmUN54.png
Edit #3: My phone is stock. Never did any modding.
IMO, not much can be done on Android side but I remember reading a great article about this issue.

I would maybe call Apple support. Even though you don't have an apple device it seems their system thinks that your number is register for imessage.
