Silence phone when ringing using volume rocker? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im having trouble figure out a good way to silence the EVO when its ringing. Flipping it over doesn't work. On my iPhone i could just keep hitting volume down while it was ringing to lower it until it eventually went off, or i could flip the vibrate switch. How can I do it on the EVO without rejecting the call? Assume the phone is locked when its ringing so a screen widget is no good, plus I want to do it with the power button or the volume rocker so I don't actually have to look at the phone. Any tips? Thanks!
edit: i guess you can silence the ringer with the power button or the volume down button. the problem is im using an app called "say my name" which says the callers name, and pressing power or vol down doesnt silence the app. damn! don't want to get rid of say my name... what to do what to do...

Silence phone during incoming call

I did that on my Tornado by pressing volume down key. Where is it in Excalibur ?
at Night, my parents are asleep and often my phone isnt on Vibrate. So the ringer keeps on buzzing. (I just want to make phone silent during incoming call rather cut it off). Its driving me nuts
And running my fingers over JOGGER doesnt help. (JOGGER should serve as VOLUME control right? since I have set it to be usable as volume control)
Some one please help me! (not any of the buttons on keyboard does make phone silent during incoming ringer)
did u tried double click on the jogger bar during call... in my if i click twice it helps me to control the volumn..

Every call MUTE is pressed while talking...??

SO my wife has the Incredible and i swear that almost every time i am talking to her , and i believe it is always while propping the phone between her ear and shoulder, she manages to press the MUTE button on the phone and then, of course, she goes quiet and i have to yell at her that she muted the phone.
I know using BT would fix this but she wont use one... so does anyone know of a way to possibly disable this MUTE function or something?
Thanks.
You should hit up ihtfp69, he had a way of disabling the "end call" button during a phone call. He might be able to help you find a way to disable the "mute" button.

Volume Lock App???

Every 2-3 days I notice my phone volume (notification and ringer) are lowered way too low. I know it's not magic but accidently pressing volume keys does it, I guess!!
.
Anyways,...is there a app that LOCKS volume? I really hate low volume on ringer and email notifications and I have noticed missed calls due to that.
please help...
thank you

[Q] Volume vibrate then mute

Good day,
On my S3 (i747), pressing the volume down buttom used to bring the volume down to vibrate. Pressing the Down volume button again used to put the phone to mute (no more vibrate, just nothing..)
Is there anyway to restore that feature on the gt-n7100 ?
Any tutorial somewhere ?
Thanks for your help
You will have to drop the notification bar, and select it from there, sorry
Or you can hold power, then select mute.
No hack till now though

Volume rocker does not go to SILENT, only vibrate...

Volume rocker does not go to SILENT, only vibrate...
I had this working but I am not sure if I am the only one.
Volume up gives you more volume
Volume down goes to vibrate then one more gives you silent but I cannot get the silent option anymore.
What gives?

it should "click" one more past the vibrate mode to give you silent. Thats what it does for me.

Once I go from the lowest volume setting to 'vibrate mode', there is nothing past that. only options i have are silent with vibrate, or audio with vibrate. I don't like it, as there are times i don't want my phone to vibrate at all.
Does anybody know of a fix?

I had the same problem must have absolute silence, no vibrate allowed!
Here's how I did it: when you swipe down for your notification bar, uncheck the "VIBRATE" setting (should be third one from the left: Wifi, GPS, Vibrate).
It should change your vibrate to mute.

Doing that works for me -- but alas no volume rocker silence mode.
"simple sound widget" is a nice add on. Just pull down notification tap on it and you can go into complete silent mode with no vibrating or s voice accidentally talking.

On my (stock) phone, there are at least three ways to mute the phone.
(1) Press the volume-down button until the volume goes to Vibrate. Then release the button and press it again. It changes to Mute.
(2) Swipe down on the notification bar. There's an icon that cycles among Sound, Vibrate, and Mute.
(3) Long-press the power button. The pop-up menu has Sound, Vibrate, and Mute icons at the bottom.
The last two options work even when the phone is locked.
