Hey guys, if hypothetically we could mod/change the touch sensor from a clearpad2000 to a MaxTouch sensor, or even the clearpad 3000? If that was possible, how hard would it be to create drivers?

Hey guys, now that we have the Desire hd roms, wouldn't it be possible to mod a desire screen to have a clearpad 3000? At work my job is very hardware related and with the right plans I guess it would be possible for me.
Does anyone here know if the touch hardware is located in the flex band of the digitizer or on mainboard?
I will go and learn some basics about capacitive touch screens next days, maybe it is possible to implement clearpad 3000 in our good old Desire phones...

im wondering too, if it would be possible.

Hi,
On Ebay I have bought a XDA 2 PCB board. What I need help with is what other parts will I need to make work. So far I think I need:
1 DIY battery kit
1 Touchscreen LCD
1 Sync cable (which is best?)
some software for my PC, any ideas?
1 case, any ideas were I can get this from or has any one got one?
Any ideas on get this project up and running would be most appriecated.
Thanks
Cmcmill01
Software on the pc is no problem.
You just need Active Sync, can be downloaded from here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/pocketpc/activesync37.mspx
With the rest, I can't help you...
Cheers Jos,
Anyboby else with some ideas?
Has anybody got a faulty XDAII, wishing to sell?
Cheers
Cmcmill01
well i think that most peoples warrenty would replace their defect xda2 still
unless they abused it in a manner most faul that the company would notice
but with time and newer radio stacks and a full rom kitchen
you will mostlikely be able to get some
though as to buying the parts from new maybe diff to find and prob pricy aswell
Cheers for the Info
Has the XDA II got the same case as any other handheld?
As for the screen does that come in two parts?
cheers

all pda's i've ever messed with have seperate lcd and touch screen
Is there any way to test that board before you spend so much money, because the xda2 is so new I dont see you getting secondhand parts and to buy them new is likely to cost somewhere near the price of buying a warranted unit.
So here are my thoughts, if they are complete crap let me know.
Get the board, attach the power and sync lead (can it run with out battery attached just on the mains?)
Get the LCD screen (ACX706AKM sony part, XDA I, is it the same screen for the XDA II)
Load up the ROM and Radio Stack, is this all I have to do to get Windows 2003 on the XDA?
Then get a case, by that time I'll probably have spent more than a new one.
Don't think you can use a XDA I screen, because it has less colors (4K instead of 64K).

here you go
Cheers, for that.
But is that not for the XDA? not the XDAII, they have different screens!
Good luck finding a screen. I have called Sony trying to get one for XDA, and they referred me to the MFG who does not respond to any consumer inquiries. It seems that they don't want end users to have the ability to repair their own phones. If you find a source for the screen I'd love to know.
Good luck!
Hi CMCMILL01

Hi
I'm thinking about to install on my elfin the lcd of HTC JADE ora HTC TOUCH 3g because they have 260000colours instead of 65000 standard elfin lcd.
do you think it's possibile?
I have seen that the resolution is the same between these models: 240x320
so the external dimension should be equal isn't it?
and you thinking about......
the graphicadapter know, you have a new display ;-)
or you rewrite a new firmware/Rom with complete new graphiclibrary.

See ya!
Be coz they are very similar. And I am wondering would that be possible?
Similar look but inside they are very different. so, the answer is NO.

LOL +1. They're not even close to being similar from a development/ROM porting standpoint.

pretty much all the android roms will look the same (aside from sense)
Isn't the G1 the closest to our Touch Pro 2's?

Hero is probably the closest, although the G1 is close.
and even if the tp2 would be close to the desire z
we are not allowed to port any htc sense to other devices anymore...
at least in a lot of countries...
so yes...the answer would be no...
even though i would love to have sense on my tp2...
That's odd because the hd2 has a few desire ports that haven't been taken down due to copyright

Both of them are WVGA and have keyboards, but they aren't similar hardware-wise.

Hi guys I need some help from u
Now I have cracked AT&T HTC one x with cracked digitizer. Everything else working fine. Touch works fine. Due its hard to replace only digitizer I'm looking for Digitizer+LCD replacement. It cost $50-60.
the problem is, are there any different versions of these units.(I heard that there is color differences of flex cables) Will those any unit compatible with my AT&T HTC ONE X ? Any differences of these units for AT&T and International version ?
or what should I look when I buying digitizer + LCD units ?
Thanks

Try going to AT&T store and see how much they ask for an screen / digitizer replacement. That is the only way you are sure it will fit / work on your device.
To the best of my knowledge the screens on both models are identical in dimension and capability but I have absolutely no idea about internal connections, etc.
This is why you should be asking on the AT&T HOX forum and NOT in the international HOX forum.
