Has it been compiled yet?
I know they released a community preview trial, but I'd love to get my hands on an installable package for my tablet.
CE7 is not like a desktop OS where there's a vast library of pre built drivers, ready to install on just about any machine. It requires the development of a BSP (Board Support Package) for the specific device it's being deployed on.
Example of a CE7 BSP
So, if your ODM has not already developed a BSP specifically for your device, that's who you need to start bugging for one
Incidentally, all CE-based platforms require a BSP like this. Every WM PDA/Phone/Device and every CE based POS system/etc. out there have one or several. You could consider it an "official ROM kitchen".

hi guys
i understand the wm2005 released here is the beta ver.
googling seems to suggest the final should have been released already.
do we have the final available on the forum anywhere?
cheers
aslan
There is not and probably will not be an "official" release for the Blueangel. Our copy is being worked on by mamaich and buzz and others, and has come a long way since it's early version. It is almost de-bugged and works well. I would not hold my breath waiting for a "finished" release....it's probably not coming.
Later....... 8)

i dont mean an official version, but more like a rom dump off a ppc which is sold with wm2005 final.
or are they not making a final? or is what we've got thy final?
PPCs and their software are so much together that you can't really take a ROM dump from another unit and get it to work on a BA. Bits and pieces have been taken out from the Himalaya, but a full ROM can't be used.
All WM (2002, 2003, 2003SE, 5 etc) are compiled SPECIFICALLY for each device which includes drivers ONLY for that particular device and the ROM contains a large number of XIP modules (eXecute In Place) which can only run at a specified memory address (Think back to when you could only compile code that did not have relocatable code addressing...)
If you can manage to remove a module from one version of WM5 the chances are:
1) It is incompatible with the device you are trying to move it to (Hardware is different / at different memory locations)
2) The module will be loaded at the wrong memory location causing it to fail when executed.
So although the base WM5 might be the same code wise the above problems will prevent moving the vast majority of items between devices using simple file transfer - we need the original code, compilers and device drivers to be able to create our own - very, very unlikely!!!
Can I use Platform Builder make a OS for My XDA2i ?
Yes. If you have got a full version with a correspinding BSP. But you don't have it.
I got PB 5.0 with INTEL PXA27x DEV PLATFORM:ARMV4I, it's correspinding?

Nope. That's the default BSP that comes with PB5. You need a BSP specifically to your device but it is pretty much impossible to get one.
And you need a newer PlatFormBuilder - 5.1x or something like that.
Windows Mobile 2005 version is numbered 5.1. Trial version of PlatFormBuilder from MS site can design only WinCE 5.0 images.
who knows if i can upgrade my windows on my h5550? i have now wm 3
bump . i really need new windows: )
There are no ROM upgrades for your device.
oh..and they can't be made? its too old
There are two ways ROM upgrades are made:
1) The company that made your device is very nice so they go to MS, get new license then put in the work to create and official update.
2) When there is a great interest in a device and some leaked information hackers get around and reverse engineer the bootloader and ROM encryption to create cooking tools.
Unfortunately both options do not look likely for your phone.
Microsoft has just unveiled a bunch of updates and bug fixes for the Windows CE 5.0, 6.0, and NavReady operating systems. The Windows CE 5.0 July 2008 update will do the following :-
Fixes a problem that occurred with DHCP when a device has more than one network adapter (KB954904)
Fixes problems with mounting certain SD cards, and with corruption of the transaction-safe FAT (TFAT) file system when power is turned off while writing
Fixes a problem with the flash adaptive layer (FAL), wherein it sometimes incorrectly reported that a flash device was full even though some free sectors are still available
Provides SQL Compact 3.5 SP1 functionality as a "catalog item" in Platform Builder, for potential addition to devices
As for the Windows CE 6.0 July 2008 updates, it will perform the following :-
Fixes a rounding operation in the software clock that sometimes caused system time to randomly jump forward by several seconds
Adds a "check for NULL pointer to resolve some issues"
Allows limiting resource calls on kernel threads in a PSL (program static library) context
Fixes a DEBUGCHK in DEBUG KERNEL that could cause a device to halt during booting if a USB hard disk was attached
Addresses a memory leak in the Windows CE 6.0 shell
Provides SQL Compact 3.5 SP1 functionality as a "catalog item" in Platform Builder, for potential addition to devices.
From my side NO SINGLE COMMENT
wow, but this bugs are in the 6.1 that we are using?, or only in 5.0 and 6.0? (sorry for my english)

Windows Mobile 6.1 is based on CE 5, so, some will apply to us.
at my opinion we can achive this update only via coocking rom's from newer devices.......windows update in windows mobile usless

dear profs
am a user, and have no idea about the coding-work.
still i find you guys making almost all my wishes come true here (bluetooth watch support, wm6.1 in mpx220 etc)...
now i am offering 1000 usd for the guy building a hack (or whatever) so that i can run windows mobile 6.1 on motorola z8.
why?
> i am using htc rose and find windows mobile 6.1 standard the ideal os for a cellphone. the rose is fine.. but i can't stop starring at my motorola z8 and imagine having the same os on it.
if, for some reason, not possible at all, pls explain.
thank you very much for all ur efforts and work u put into your products.

the phone specs:

roms == firmware is embedded software custom made for a spc device
it can't be ported from device to device
your motorola z8 is a symbian device and as such haver never had a rom foundation for it
there have never been made drivers for every little feature of the device
and if the phone don't use an arm cpu windows mobile have never been ported to that platform
