Update: The product page has been updated to reveal that the carrier is literally bundling Windows 7 (for the desktop) upgrades for HD2 purchasers. False alarm!

Back in the Spring of 2010, it seemed that every day we would get conflicting reports on whether existing Windows Mobile hardware would see an upgrade to Windows Phone 7. The consensus turned out to be a "no" after Microsoft directly denied the rumor, even after HTC Russia indicated the answer to be "yes" (which was then retracted)

But now, as news tipster MCP points out, Polish carrier Poland Telefonia Cyfrowa is listing the HD2 as getting an upgrade to "Windows 7", which we assume to mean Windows Phone 7. If you zoom out to the selector screen as shown above, two HD2 models are shown: one with and one without the upgrade. The one with the upgrade is "on sale soon", meaning you can't get it now.
Could this be a typo, or a sign of things to come?

Doubtful tbh. It's been discussed in the other section what the technical limitations for it would be.
Such as the strict 3-button requirements by Microsoft.

Guys I'm Polish.
I just navigated through the page.
They meant Windows 7 for your PC

[INFO] Tracking Platform Popularity Via The Fourm [9 Mar 2011]

Hi,
Out of interest I've been monitoring the number of Viewers in each section of the forum over the last few months to gauge how things are shaping up in the platform stakes.
Note: This is a very rough snapshot of data (I've not taken the data at the same time of day or on a regular basis).
Make of it what you will, but I thought I'd share the results so far.
I would be interested in seeing a lot more statistical data available about the forums, even down to tracking views of threads with specific tags.

Unfortunately I "lost" my spreadsheet and data for this, however as a quick update here is a quick check I did out of interest!
9th March 3:30PM
10.7% WP7
23.7% WM
65.6% Android
Thanks for that info.
Still think WM has long time still
I hope so, it is definitely very capable, never dreamed of some of the things it can do.
But consumer forces enter here and companies are only interested in the big markets, less and less bother with WM and that is only going to get worse.
Of course, xda will keep our WM devices running nicely until we decide it is time for change! For me, I think there is room for my WM device and a Android device in my life (shame my wallet doesn't agree).
Just thought I'd update with new data from today, WP7 up by 4%, Android up by 10% and WM definitely taking a hit!
Having said that, the numbers suggest that these are extra people rather than loss of people so it's not all bad news for WM.
Unfortunately I "lost" (IT encrypted it and then the encryption software lost the keys...) my spreadsheet and data for this, however as a quick update here is a quick check I did out of interest!

Interesting data. I like how the two look to be repelling each other Go Android!

[Q] Door will close. What next?

So as we all know, the ChevronWP7 team met with Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 development team and tested out the NoDo update and discovered that the hole previously used to Developer unlock our phones is now closed. So what do you guys think will happen next? Will someone (possibly one of you guys) find a loophole in the update? MS will give out free developer accounts (ha)? A compromise on homebrew as claimed by the ChevronWP7 team? Personally, I'm not too happy about giving up all of my sideloaded apps for Copy & Paste and slightly faster app loading...so I hope someone on here is getting ready to hack NoDo

[Windows Insiders] New Rings Just Mean More Delays

If a build meets criteria, it moves on and the next ring receives it. With new more rings,pre-Canary ring probably sees few times as many builds as Canary/OSG because they wiil catch problems in pre-Canary and don’t push futher.
So delays

PolarisOS Build 16299 (ARM32)

An old build of Windows Core OS "Polaris" has been leaked to the Network
Back in 2018, it became known that Microsoft was creating a new modern version of the Windows 10 operating system for PCs, codenamed Polaris. The operating system was to be called Windows Core OS and include a foldable mobile version of Andromeda.

It was rumored that the new Windows Core OS would fix most of the legacy code and compatibility issues that Windows 10 has. Microsoft later canceled Polaris and Andromeda and switched to Windows 10X, and now an early build of Windows Core has been leaked online.
This version is dated 2018 and has no GUI. Since it is a raw version and may contain various problems, experts do not recommend trying to install it on your primary computer. This is an RS3 RTM assembly compatible with the ARM32 architecture. This means that the operating system can be installed, for example, on an outdated Surface RT.
P.s I know a lot of talented guys here, this may turn out to be to give a second wind to the surface of RT, I apologize for the text, I use a translator from Google

It would be pointless to install this, it would just dump you at a black screen because there is no shell and a lot of other stuff Is missing. The screenshot commonly posted with news of this release is not what this build is.
It's good this build is preserved but its not going to modernize RT's.

Which cheap tablet (with micro-sd) works with LineageOS?

I'm looking for a tablet with LOS suppport, but the official builds are for brand tablets that are either very expensive or very old (and still expensive, even if I buy a used one with worn-out batteray).
It's purely for website browsing, ebooks and an occasional movie - it doesn't even need cell support, Wifi-only is sufficient. It should have expandable storage with micro-sd though.
Could anyone give me a hint which current cheaper tablets have a LOS 19/18.1 build, or in case these aren't available even older LOS (an inofficial build is just fine)?
I'm asking because there's no 'tablet' list for LOS, neither official nor inofficial, and I'm completely confused by the flood of smartphone builds...
Thanks!
Asus Nexus 7 (2013)
Or check here:
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/
And search (CTRL+F) for tab or pad, that'll show you 6 as of now. Unfortunately, some devices like the previously mentioned Nexus 7 won't show up (edit: by that search for tab)...
You can also try the same by using the switch "Show discontinued devices" on top, then there will be 39x tab and 6x pad.

Sorry for such halfbaked precision
