Weird battery problems - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all. I was using leedroids froyosense Rom but I stopped using it because everytime I unplugged my charger when my phone had charged to full, the battery would jump down to about 90 percent straight away..
Now I'm back on Adam G's sense froyo rom, but the same things happening again, this time if drops down to around 96 percent though..
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks in advance.

do you people not search?? it been talked about for weeks this, when the desire reaches 100% it starts discharging to 90% before it starts charging again, even tho the batt says 100% so its random between 100 - 90 % when you unplug your phone, you wont know the correct charge level till the battery polls again 2-3 mins later

Of course I search! It's all I do! But iv charged my phone overnight for 10th hours plus so there is plenty of time to discharge to 90 percent or so then back to 100 percent but its just not happening.
Instead it just drops down and stays down.

it dosent do it just once, every time the fone gets to 100% it starts discarging!! the process is called exercising the battery btw i charge my fone with the power off and dont have this problem, but have noticed it when charging with power on

Ah i see. Just turned my phone off when it got to green when the phone was turned on then turned it off and it topped itself back up to green and now its still on 100 percent after half an hour.
Thanks for your help!

How to calibrate battery on g2?

So guys how do you guys calibrate your batteries? I have pershoot kernel and I saw some people that their battery life is going up to 26 hours. I wipe my battery stats and my battery still drains 10% less than an hour. So anyone can give me some ideas how to do it? O and I use profiles in setcpu too,such as screen off battery and charging/full.

Run battery until phone shuts off. Turn phone on and play with it till battery dies and phone shuts off. Turn phone on again. Till battery dies. Repeat. Repeatu until it doesn't boot again. Plug phone into outlet (not laptop)
Don't bother the phone till the light is green.
let it charge for a few more hours after ut turns green. the g2 gives a green light not onl at 100 but between 90-100. let it charge until green then unplug and plug it back in to charge for another hour or so
After you do all that the batery will apear to drain faster but will stay red longer untill new battery data is built up to give acurate estimates.

How does one have the phone "off-off" when you have Clockwork Recovery installed? It turns on into CWR whenever the phone is "off" as soon as you plug it in.
Thanks!

I never turn my phone off.... just charge it every night. Its my alarm anyway

Sorry, but right now you can't. It's a problem with Clockwork. If it really bothers you, you can always flash the stock recovery back again.
i did complete battery drains till phone cant power on than i charge a little delete battery stats in recovery drain again and than charge overnight. im at 11 1/2 hours with 74% left.

Are you using the stock batt or the CHichi's?
So I'm in the process of doing this....Right now I'm sitting on 27% after 6 hours. SO I guess it's normal that it drains much quicker after you reset the stats?
How do you "go into recovery and wipe battery stats"?
Are you rooted w/ clockworkmod recovery?.....rom manager?
Sent from my HTC Vision
.. No. Just have a temp root installed.
Well, I did just what you all did and now I get 42 days >=3 ha beat that!!!!
1300
I find it hard to believe any of you are actually getting more 10 hours
unless of course the only thing you do is leave in standby and only text and barely any web or anything
1300 mAh is not alot

Battery question

Hi peeps, any ideas on a battery problem I have having?. I plug my phone in at night and sometimes when I get up its only got upto around 85 to 90%, other times it hits 100% but then drops around 10% within about 20 mins. This only started about two weeks ago and I haven't done anything different with it.

Try the Battery reset procedure:
- Turn on phone;
- Charge to 100%;
- Turn off;
- Charge again to 100% (untill LED turns green);
- Turn on in recovery mode,
- Wipe battery;
- Reboot normally.
EDIT: This procedure mast be executed every time you flash a firmware.
What aledeago said, plus: the battery charges to full, then the charger switches off and it discharges again for a while before starting to charge again. This means that when you unplug it, it may not actually be fully charged if you catch it at the end of a discharge cycle.

Don't do that battery calibration thing but get custom rom with battery fix instead.

[Q]Battery not charging to 100%

When I wake up and take my phone off the charger, it's always at like 98 or 97%. I have battery monitor and when looking at it, it shows that it gets to 100% through charging, then goes down to 98 or 97 and then stays at that state throughout the night.
Anyone else having this happen with their phone? With enough battery issues, it seems these 2 or 3% could be an hour of standby.
When the phone hits 100% on the charger it doesn't charge anymore to prevent overcharging.. pretty common feature in most phones nowadays.. if it goes below a threshold it charges again until 100 and the process repeats

same issue... my thunderbolt use to hit 100%, but the gnex stops at 99 or 98%. if i unplug the charger for few seconds, plug it back in and boom it goes to 100%
Same issue here. Seems to stay on 99 until I unplug charger and plug it back it.

This isn't an issue..

If you want to get 100% (not saying it makes a difference when it's showing at 98/99%, what volfman suggest it the best way to do it. I did it with my SGS2
it should charge to 100% in the first place. another bug that needs to be fixed... hopefully the 4g gets fixed first cuz with this, i can live with.
The reason i want `100% is cuz its nice to see the 100% rather then 99%.

Phone stuck at 99% while charging

I'm on FB17 and my phone is getting really hot while charging is stuck at 99%. It's been like this for a couple hours. anyone know what's up?

Is something running? When you're plugged in, you're still running off the battery. Mine only goes 100% if it's in standby while plugged in.
Nothings running at all
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Turn off the phone and let it charge.
If that doesn't work, pull the battery and let it sit for 2 minutes
Yeah, I'm having the same issue. Also read a few others were as well. I'm going to try and recalibratey battery. Ill keep you posted.
+1 to Nibrs' comment. I would shutdown the phone completely, let it take a full charge WITHOUT the android OS running, unplug the charger, remove the battery for a few minutes then boot the phone back up. After it's been up and running and settled in, plug the charger back in once again. It could take 30-45 minutes to finish this last trickle charge.
I've had this issue since cm9 alpha 1. Don't really care.

Thanks for your non-contribution to this thread.
Alright, are calibrating didn't work ( might of helped battery life tho) it charges to 100% only when my phone is off. As soon as I turn it on, its at 99%. I miss my blue led.

Mine will be stuck on 99% for a long time also but mine will eventually say 100%. It has to do with how the battery is charged. Once it gets to a certain point it only does a slow trickle charge to maintain the battery level. So for the 99% part it's supposed to do that but you shouldn't have those heat issues. Did you flash a new ROM recently by chance?

Since GB my phone has done this same thing. I just figured its an ICS thing...really if u think about it, ur phone is at 100% while charged...u unplug it and it is using battery so you're at 99.999 percent off the bat...seems like the phone just doesn't round less than whole numbers.

You're not actually fully charged when you unplug it. It would be in the 90% area because it doesn't constantly charge the battery. It stops once it gets to a certain point and then will start charging again once the battery hits a certain minimum level.
Well, took almost 12hrs of charging but finally got to a 100%. Btw. I'm on blu kuban rom. Not sure if its a ics bug or a battery issue. Never had this happen in stock.

I think it is supposed to float between 95% - 100% to avoid damaging the battery.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Don't know if this a factor but had this happen today on ff09. Battery jumped from 54% to 10% on one reboot (phone was hot)... Rebooted again and back up to 26%.
Got home, plugged in on LG cord to 99%. Changed to Sammy charger, finished 2 hrs later.

How many cycles have you gone since flashing? I have been on blu kuban for over a month now. I update the instant I see an update. Most times it takes around 3 full battery cycles before I see decent life. This last update seemed to take longer than usual to see normal battery behavior. First I would try draining battery to 5%, run battery calibration script in the updater then fully charge and calibrate again. If it continues I would recommend the standard restore to stock and reinstall.

Woww that's a lot ..... I think the problem is from the battery because I used to have a phone which used to go from 10% to 100% in 20 min ....so you may have to change your battery because the charger isn't related(I think )

Wait for other answers ... IN 20 MIN YOUR PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED FROM 10% TO 100% ?? :laugh:
Yes,that's a lie !(in my opinion)
Try this:
Try to use the battery till the shutdown point.
let it switch off.
charge the phone untill the light turns green (100%)
Boot into recovery and wipe battery stats
now reboot.
Maybe that'll help.
Normally i guess it takes some 1.5 - 2 hours to charge using HTC charger. I'm not quite sure as I never noticed this before lol.
Also try to charge your phone when it reaches below 20% only and until it's 100% in one go, I've heard it gives a little boost to life by saving a recharge cycle and also it charges much efficiently.
