Can some one pleas explain me what exactly these options do ?
- wipe data/ factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- nandroid
Thanks !
Exactly what they say they do.. Nandroid backs up and restores your data/system/ext partitions
Does the wipe data delete everything on SD card and what about the space on the intern memory ??
Music, settings, photos, apps ? Everything gets wiped . . . ?
and what is saved in "partition cache", why would i want to wipe it ?
Why would i want to backup my partitions table ?

factory reset deletes all data on ur fone and restores it to its factory settings (this does nothing to ur sd card)
the cache holds program install data and other temp data
nandroid is a way to back up and restore your ext partition data
removed - posted in wrong section.
Factory reset also wipes the sd-ext partition if you have it.

Followed it step by step (it worked!), but now when I restore the Nandroid backup I made my phone just cycles through the Sprint/4G boot screen continuously. I've wiped data, cache, and Dalvik/cache, and nothing. I restored to an earlier Nadroid backup (from like a month ago) and that one boots fine. Any ideas? Is my newest Nandroid backup just corrupt or something?
If this doesn't work I think I'll just flash to a brand new ROM, but gosh I'd like to backup my SMS messages lol
Thanks!
did you wipe?
I wiped:
Data/Factory Reset
Cache
Dalvik-cache
I didn't do SD:ext partition though...
Am I supposed to? Will it erase my SD card?

Don't wipe that, that's just for using Apps2sd
You need to wipe the user data. I dont remember how get there off the top of my head but it is where nandroid is.
I found it. I am using clockworkmod recovery, but you go to "wipe data factory reset" and you will see a bunch of no's and then a "yes -- delete all user data" select that and reboot. This should fix your problem.

I also had this problem once, I rebooted into recovery and flashed the newest radio and no more boot. Not sure if it was a fluke but you might try it if you cant get anything esle to work.
Damn ... Every custom ROM I install are coming with some of Sony's app as Timescape, PlayNow, Xperia Gallery, Let's Golf and other useless. That's right, or is something wrong here? I'm giving Full Wipe and Kernel already switched several times ...
I tried to remove them by Root explorer and SystemApp Remover, but in both I can not find the apk's ...
thanks
Up
Help me! =(
In CWM go to "mounts and storage", "format /system", "yes"
after that flash the custom rom again
And if I tell you I've done this and the app's persist? = (
Before installing at least the last 5 Rom's, I did Full Wipe, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Cahe Partition, Format and Data System and some other I can't remember now ...
Just not formatted the SD Card, but I think this has nothing to do, right? Or does it?
.
Thanks for the reply

First try deleting ".android_secure" folder in SDcard... if it doesnt work you can try deleting "SDcard/Android/data" folder but you will lose all your apps/games data too
Have you looked in data or vendor folder.
These should still be deleted if you do a full wipe.

hey, guys!
many thanks! After format .android_secure and vendor files, the Sony Apps disappeared. =)
Hi, my question is, what of way do you format device to flash a ROM. In picture A there is swipe to factory reset and in picture B you have to type yes to start. While flashing a ROM which option do you choose? Factory reset or Format data. I forgot which one I used to format data.
With TWRP if you wipe "factory reset" clears, / data, cache / and / dalvik but in / data does not erase / data / media / or your internal storage.
But is you wipe /data from Advance wipe, it will delete everything in data partition including internal storage.
:good:
Format Data now what
I used TWRP to "format data" on my phone and then loaded CyanogenMod from an external sd card, but it is stuck in the load screen. Do I have to use a different ROM after a "format data"?

Hy
Before i flashed CM10.2 (Android 4.3) i had the original touchwizz (android 4.2) and did a nandroid backup of this.
Now i want back to touchwizz but when i restored. I get a lot of fc. (applications that closes)
Before the restore i wipped data and cache. After a dalvick wipe. What is wrong. Thanks
In my opinion its a wipe problem
I have the same friggin problem and cant find a solution

Before restoring wipe system, data, cache and dalvik. Also move all files on internal storage to sdcard or somewhere else. Then wipe internal storage too. Then restore backup and move those files back to internal storage.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I format internal storage, do I need to move files from internal storage to ext sd card? The backup is on ext sd card.

Before restoring nandroid backup.... I recommend you to move all stuff u have on internal storage to your pc or ext sd card. Then format system, data , cache , dalvik and internal storage. Then restore backup. After it is done move that stuff back onto ur internal storage. Formatting internal storage is not needed everytime.
U just do it this time.

I did an advanced wipe, system, data, cache and dalvik and it never worked properly. This time I included internal storage when wiping and that fixed the restore problem. Thanks for the help.
Why i dont have almost nothig of free space on my internal memory? i installed custom rom and wiped everything with twrp recovery but i still dont have any space left.. how to resolve this?
Try Wipe data, System, cache, dalvik, and reinstall phone
Edit: Oh sorry you already done this, i don't know
Boot into twrp...go to wipe then fix or change filesystem of internal storage..check what format internal storage is in..if it is in vfat change it to ext4..! this should solve your problem..
PS :VERY IMPORTANT: you will lose all data on internal storage! i am not responsible for loss of data or bricked phone !
I was facing the same problem . By Factory Data Reset from the settings of Redmi 1s i succeeded in reclaiming 2.3 GB of internal storage.. In the process of reset all personal data, apps and even google apps are gone .. but i restored from the backup i have created before hand
