How many files did you try? Maybe the one you were trying was the problem?

just log in with google talk and you can download.

I don't think it'll let you download from the Market if it says you've got low disk space, if that's the case

WIFI issue at work, Market cannot download apps

I have a weird WIFI issue only at work, Android Market cannot download apps or games.
I can browse the internet, and look at news, weather, google etc just fine.
Sometimes the internal Mail app also gives a error saying it cannot connect. but the Gmail app is fine.
I have an orange 500 MB connection, and only got my phone yesterday. i calculate using 100MB in a day over 3g already Worrying.
Ok, got it.. Proxy issue.
I wonder if it is possible to go the other way to tethering, use the PC's internet connection on the phone? I could do that with activesync. hmm.
Only certain ports are allowed over wireless where I work, so market doesn't work for me either.

Wi-Fi Direct "is a certification mark for devices supporting a game-changing new technology enabling Wi-Fi devices to connect directly, making it simple and convenient to do things like print, share, synch and display. Products bearing the Wi-Fi Direct certification mark can connect to one another without joining a traditional home, office or hotspot network."
Sounds good to me!
yeh its great used it with GS2 to send music file in seconds .. its so fast
just want to know how to configure and use it with the nexus
Just an update.. after some digging it turns out that wifi direct in ics is just an api atm so app developers need to make use of this seemingly overlooked feature

Wi-Fi Direct
Android now supports Wi-Fi Direct for peer-to-peer (P2P) connections between Android-powered devices and other device types without a hotspot or Internet connection. The Android framework provides a set of Wi-Fi P2P APIs that allow you to discover and connect to other devices when each device supports Wi-Fi Direct, then communicate over a speedy connection across distances much longer than a Bluetooth connection.
A new package, android.net.wifi.p2p, contains all the APIs for performing peer-to-peer connections with Wi-Fi. The primary class you need to work with is WifiP2pManager, which you can acquire by calling getSystemService(WIFI_P2P_SERVICE). The WifiP2pManager includes APIs that allow you to:
Initialize your application for P2P connections by calling initialize()
Discover nearby devices by calling discoverPeers()
Start a P2P connection by calling connect()
And more

WiFi direct work like this
Turn it on
Thats easy
Ok
Now go to your laptop open up wirless networks and do a scan
and hello there is a Phone now showing up click connect
now on your phone a message will pop up saying a computer is tring to connect and asking you to say ok or cancel
say ok
Now your laptop is connected
Now open up xplorer on your laptop click networks and you will have two showing and your phone will be one of them double click on the phone this open up the phone just like in mass storage mode
Now to go the other way eg phone to pc that is the tricky bit
as the stock brouser sucks on android
You need es file exploer and do a lan scan and the laptop will show as a name click it and a message will show on the laptop or it will just open up the shared folders section
It only works on windows 7
for all its the old Ad hoc idea made simple
Northern, that didn't work for me, but my PC doesn't has got WiFi direct, so that might be a problem.
Anyways, I tried to use WiFi direct with my bother's SGS2, and we weren't being able to get it working properly. I tried the Android WiFi direct demo app, which was able to connect using WiFi direct, but I wasn't being able to send photo's. The S2 had an extra menu for configuring WiFi direct(TouchWiz)
Anyone that has got WiFi direct working on his Galaxy Nexus?
Is there any apps based on wi-fi direct?

It is very sad, that Google didn't finished it yet Is it so hard to make it work for us ? From my point of view we have been cheated
U HAVE TO USE 3TH PARTY APPS
FileExpert on the market does it
Inviato dal mio Galaxy Nexus con Tapatalk 2
Well file expert needs an access point in order to transfer files and the phone that you want to transfer file must have file expert too.. which is just wireless sharing not wifi direct though..
My Sony Bravia got WIFI Direct too. I tried to connect my GN with it. TV did find the phone. Connected too. But then just kept dropping off the connection.
Did anybody tried it out with a TV?
I noticed it on my sister's GS2, tried it out, her phone can see mine, but i can't seem to find the wifi direct settings for my gnex.

Tethering working on AT&T LT28a

Last night I updated my Tablet S to release 5 and saw that it came with a new app Xperia Link. This app allows the tablet to link to certain Xperia phones and use the phones connection. I first tried to download from Play Store and got the message that I couldn't download from either my area or provider. Did a bit of searching and found the apk in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895345
I installed the apk and it installed a new Wi-Fi Hotspot. This hotspot works through bluetooth so I paired my phone to my Win 7 computer and then from the bluetooth device screen selected the Connect Using -> Access Point.
Works great with one exception. I can't use my corp VPN desktop software seems ports are blocked. Will try phone VPN setup next. With the 4G connection the download speed is faster than my TW home connection.
are you on international ics? i tried installing and running and it said device unsupported for tethering?
It didn't work for me either, I am using the AT&T stock rom rooted.

[Q] Issue with sharing internet using WiFi hotspot

Hi there. Have got this issue with sharing internet on my Note 2 when I switch on the WiFi hotspot. I can switch on the Hotspot, and I can get other devices (phones, my laptop) to connect to it as well. But none of the devices can access the internet.
I have been using my other phone, an HTC Incredible S, without any issues. But the same does not seem to work with my Note 2. It worked fine when I used it a few weeks ago, though. And I don't remember making any changes. It is stock, and I have added an extra SD card which is about the only new thing in the phone.
EDIT: Ok, here is an update: Bluetooth tethering does not work either. However, I have noticed that I can share the internet if it is not 3G. I don't seem to have any problems sharing a net connection I get from another wifi source.. Makes sense?
Thanks folks!
Hi , i have the same problem
i want to connect my Note II to my laptop so i can use the internet connection of my laptop
i get the internet by a dongle (truemove 3G+ Thailand 15kb/sec ! )
i can acces my laptop, however i can only do this with a static ip adress.
i use the program " virtual router " wich works fine
but after th econnection has been made i still cannot acces the internet
as far as i know i opened everything in my system that i can think of to make it possible for my Note to acces the internet
it still not work
after this i tried the progran Pdanet.
same story , connection with the laptop but no internet
i am starting to believe that maybe my windows7 is blocking somewhere ?
btw. firewall is offline , no virus program installed

Hello there!
I think you have a different issue here In fact, quite the opposite! I was unable to share my 3G connection with bluetooth/wifi tethering options. I did a factory reset, and it is all fine now.
About the problem you are facing: Did you try this on a different computer?
