After I reboot my Desire,it stay in "obtaining IP address from xxxxx" for a very long time, and will never finish this work
Why?
here is the Wifi software version and screen shot when it working
Was it working before you flashed this rom and radio?
It seems that most HTC Android phones are very fussy about the routers they will reliably connect to. This could be an issue with your phone or your router that is at fault.
Try changing the wireless channel and/or encryption method on your router, as this may help.

Hello mates
I try to surf by WiFi most of the time when I am at home but unfortunately my Desire deactivates WiFi ramdomly after ~ 1.5 minutes. The connection is not lost, WiFi is really deactivated! If I re-enable WiFi afterwards, the same occurs again
WiFi-Standby-Policy is on "Never" and I currently don't use any other WiFi-managing apps.
The problem is really pi**ing me off as I cannot simply browse that way :[
Here is a short Video:

Anyone else having this issue?
What firmware and radio are you running?
Have you tried changing your Router to connect to a different Wi-Fi frequency channel, could be something to do with interference maybe?
FW 2.1-update1
Radio 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Can't imagine that a wrong channel in my router forces my Desire to switch off WiFi... I'm forced to use channel 13 as I would have interferences otherwise
edit: changed it from 13 to 10, didn't change anything.
Could a hardreset solve the problem?
Yes, i was going to suggest you try a hard reset to get rid of any software bugs and set your device back to factory condition.
If that does not work, and if not already done so, then you could try rooting and flashing to a different rom. You could also try a different radio version too as this can improve signal strength of Wi-Fi.

Did a hardreset but problem still persists
I am still having this annoying bug In the meantime I did a hardreset 3 times and also bought another router -.-
Please help me!
I've seen a lot of people complaining about one problem or another on here, and it puzzles me greatly why more respondents don't say the bleeding obvious.. if you phone doesn't work, take it back! That's what warranties are for people!

it seems that
not a single froyo; froyo sens or aosp roms is working with my router.
I get "obtaining address" the hole time but not further.
has someone an idea how to get around this problem?
I know others have the same issue so it would be nice to have here some real info on what to do.
For others having the same problem:
please do not post the same problem here, of curse you should give reevant information if you having the same problem. but keep the thread clean of "me too reports" or remarks such as: "this can't be it works fine for me."
UPDATE 1 Resetting the router is not helping at all.
static IP isnot the solution as well.
I am lookin now for a ROM without Wifi N modificated driver.
thx.

You must be doing something wrong?
do you have the latest firmware in the router?
Im using a Belkin N router without any issues at all.
I also had issues with my Belkin router. Seems like a Belkin problem, because with other routers there was no problem at all.
Unfortunately I did not find a solution.

have tried to manually change the IP address of your desire?
You're asking us not post if I'm having the same issue, that seems counter-productive?
I'm having the same issue. Finding this one a little difficult one to troubleshoot. I can say that it's not specific to Belkin routers, as it happens on both my work and home wireless routers:
Netgear Wireless-N 300 ADSL 2+ DGN 2000
Netgear DG834G
Both of which have most up-to-date firmware.
Intermittently gives problems. Haven't had an opportunity to test whether a router reboot resolves the issue temporarily.
The problem seems to be with Nexus ported Froyo, not Sense-Froyo.
As suggested above, most people find that setting a static IP address works. Perhaps try an app called Wifi Static if you have multiple wifi networks with different networks with different static IPs. But in my opinion these are workarounds to a problem inherent in Android.

please have a look at the first post I updated it.
since my phone works just fine when i use Eclair 2.1 with Sense.
so I started compairing the builds seeing that they all seem to have a "hack" to bring Wifi N standard to the Desire so it might have something todo with the WIFI N enabling that all of these roms provide.
but I cat finde a build without it can anyone point me to such a build so I can try it?
thx.

I tried many radios, many WM roms, but no success with wifi, it just not work with 2.2 Android...........Belkin N1
Do normal computers work with N connection? I've used Belkin's routers in past and they all have given me issues(They look sexy though). If you disable N on Belkin's router and only keep G, does it work? Have you tried manually setting IP address, gateway, subnet and DNS?
My work around was to set a static IP on my desire only issue now I have to remember to switch back to DHCP when I leave home. Anyone wondering how to do this on android go to WiFi then press menu button again to display the advanced settings.
Would still like to find a permanent solution for the Belkin report firmware.
Hey guys,
I just got myself the HTC Desire yesterday with Android 2.1 installed. I'm from India and the 2.2 upgrade is not yet available.
My problem is using Wi-Fi with HTC. I am able to turn on the Wifi, it gets connected to the WiFi router as well (with full signal strength) - HOWEVER when I try to access the internet, it is unable to do so. At the same time, all my other devices like the laptops and even my old phone (Nokia E72) are able to access the Wifi and connect to the internet. The router is Linksys WRT54G ver.7
I have checked all configuration settings on my WiFi Router (including security settings). I have even tried to disable security completely from the access point, but nothing is working. I'm really completely perplexed as to what can be done. Really appreciate any help from you guys
Bump! Any help guys?

The Desire, and other HTC Android phones, seems to be quite picky when it comes to WiFi routers. I think it is an issue that can often by fixed by replacing the firmware on your router.
See this thread for further details.

Dave
Thanks a lot for your response Dave. I'll look up that link

Hello XDA Team and Member,
first I want to thank for the great Forum here and the Members and Developers too.
I have an issue with mit OneX. When I have a connection with my wifi-repeater mit OneX show me potential Wifi-signal 100% but there is no Internet. The Websites or Apps like Facebook do'snt loading. Connection lost is the message of my OneX. Every other Cellphone, Notebook, PC or IPad is working fine with this repeater (Telekom W100).
My OneX working fine when I go one step to the right and the Wifi-signal comes from my router. Don't know why, but with my Desire, my Sensation and my Wildfire S is no problem like that.
Doesnt find anything in XDA-search or google except a threat at german Telekom-forum... doesnt helped yet. Sorry, my english is horrible.
Please help me
Thank you...
Welcome to forum!
This issue can be tricky to solve. It would seem that One X is confused by repeater and thinks it is router.
You could try to manually assign IP adress from within One X, see if that helps?
Settings > Wifi > longpress on network name -> Modify -> scroll down to Advanced Options -> IP (change from DHCP to static).
Then set gateway and dns to what your main router ip. Good luck
HAWKINS, roxcyc
Thanks for your answer.
Try to change to static but nothing happens. Same problem. This repeater is configurate with wps. The strange thing is that there is no changes of IP or anything when the OneX is change the Wifi conection to the repeater but the sides stops to load and don't loading anytime I connected to the repeater. Try to change from wpa to wep and give a shout about the result...
Hi,
There is another thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26915135
With similar symptoms to the issue you are having. I'm having the same. WEP might help but easy to crack from a security point of view. I have the same issue but only with my WiFi AP at home. In other areas it works fine so I have not been able to find what is causing this. You can try and disable the N radio in your repeater and see if that works too as a poster said in another thread...for me this has not worked but worth a try.

Hi,
try to set off the N mode in my router a week a go. Doesn't help. WEP doesn't work either. Don't have a glue why only my oneX have this prob and all other devices working :-( Try some things more and post the result when it's solved.
Edit: Get a 2nd HOX in a few days... Try that if the isseu is standard with all HOX or only with my. Had try to chance the Radio/ Baseband. Set a fix IP. Nothing helped.
....
Got a new HOX and try to connect with wifi over the repeater... nothing changed, same prob like with the other HOX and two different HOX's from friends of mine. HTC sayed: "All HOX's are busted and have to sent to repair! LOLLLLLL What the fu** ! Been with a HTC since round about 10 years and now I think about a draft.
So problem still NOT fixed!
solved?

Hi, after 4 or 5 months after I post this problem I had been tired to search for a fix and I got a HTC ONE.
So I don't know what it was with the oneX... the one was working fine with the repeater and the one m8 do also!
Hi everyone..
I just realize that my htc one v have an issue as mentioned on the title..
I have no problem in connecting with any open or WPA2 encrypted wifi access point,
there is no problem with the router, because my laptop can connect perfectly,
but my one v couldn't seem to detect the WEP wifi network no matter how long I scan the network..
I just wondering if any of you having the same issue with me, and I will be very grateful if you know how to fix this..
Is this a hardware issue or what?
Oh, by the way I am still using the stock room, and I haven't rooted the phone..
Thank you for your response
no response? anyone?
I guess I'm the only one having this issue..
so maybe this is hardware problem..
Rooted?
