Radio Flashing - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I must confess this confuses me a bit!
Does the flashing procedure differ AL ALL, from the ROM flashing procedure?
Rom Manager:
Reboot in to recovery--->update fro sd----> choose radio to update with!?
Or can in be done via Rom manager------>install ROM from SD Card---->choose radio instead of ROM!?

You can do it through the ROM manager

Questions on Switching back to Original HTC ROM, Upgrading Radio

I have 3 questions for the forum -
1) Why is it required to do a Hard-SPL and upgrade the Radio before upgrading to a Custom ROM?
2) I downloaded a Custom ROM and after unzipping I saw only 1 .nbh file. To update the ROM do I need to copy this file to the CustomRUU folder? There is already a nbh file present there - do I overwrite it?
3) If I am not happy with the Custom ROM - can I go back to the Original HTC ROM? I have it downloaded. Also - will the Radio be updated back to the Original ROM as well?
Any help is appreciated!!!

[*]HardSPL: This modified bootloader allows a much safer flashing process to take place since it reduces the chance of permenently bricking your device. It also removes the need to CID Unlock the device since it ALWAYS reports SuperCID when flashing. See the official thread for more info.

2) Yes. Or the other way around (copy the CustomRUU file to the ROM folder).
3) Yes and yes. Stock ROMs usually include Radio as well.
Good luck
Thanks for the response. I did go through that guide. I got the reason for the Hard-SPL - but why the radio? Why do we need to upgrade or change the radio?

[Q] [QUESTION] ROMs?

Ok, so i rooted my phone. I have the SuperUser app and stuff and can do root explorer.
My problem is how to put ROMs on it.
Can someone give a detailed explanation on how to put ROMs on the Galaxy gio as if they were talking to someone with their first smartphone who doesn't know anything about hacking.
THX!
lol you dont need root to flash roms if you have samsung
you need to download ODIN V4.42 (samsung flash program)
then where you download rom, thre will be discriprion how to install that rom.
You can either flash a rom via recovery or via odin. When you check a ROM thread, you'd see a guide on how to flash. Just follow that!
You can find Odin's procedure with video here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16979859&postcount=549
I advise you to go through the flashing steps thoroughly before you start it! You might end up in trouble if you miss any step. Also, always choose the rom which is for your particular set (e.g 5660M/V/whatever)
You must go in development section and there you find roms and tutorial..it's very simple..don't worry!!
Thanks! Just flashed CM9
GyanogenMod 9 is the rom but wait for a RC version

Boot. Img Is the kernel
ok, and i have to patch it every time other wise it doesn't get touch screen input
i'm also wondering if is ok to flash a new update every week / mouth, i mean if the flash part has a low number of write times
edit: if next update i don't flash the boot.img but i should have, i guess it goes in bootloop or it doesn't but. Can i just flash after?

Write Protection : Enable

I cant install custom rom by Odin > give > Fail >
write protection enable , GT-I9192
Plz need to help :crying:
What device model do you have, what ROM are you trying to install and which recovery image are you using?
You would want to flash your custom ROM from your custom recovery(that you would flash with Odin) directly from the handset, rather than installing a custom ROM from within Odin...

There's at least 3 options that seem to have worked for different people in this thread, which, by the way, was the first listing of an internet search for your problem:

is it okay to downgrade official stock

hey i guys i dont know if this is posted before , anyhow i'm goin to install a costum rom but following this guide
https://github.com/tkchn/daisyinstall/blob/master/README.md
it says it's recommended to be on 10.0.3.0 but currently i'm on 10.0.15.0 , is it okay to reflash the recommended stock directly or can i flash costum rom on my 10.0.15 ??? any one please to feedback or answer me thanx in advance
In theory, you can flash custom ROM on your current setup, but if you have read any of the guides to flash a custom ROM, you will see that it's preferred to have a clean stock ROM. So my suggestion, Download and flash the latest Stock ROM and then follow the guides. This lets you avoid bugs/unexpected crashes etc.
TL;DR : READ THE DAMN GUIDE
EDIT : And yes it is okay to downgrade you can even flash Oreo if you want.
