Can anyone tell me how to change the highlight colours on winmo 6.5?
The ones for things like contacts, sms, email, even the load bar etc.
I would have thought there would be a simple application for custom themes but apparently not, Microsoft seem to have moved theirs or taken it down too.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Semi solution
I found this
UI Tweeker
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Tweaks/UI-Tweaker-16493.shtml
It claims to work only for winmo 5 but it does work up to 6.5
You can use a regedit too to get most colours changed;-
HKLM\SYSTEM\GWE\SYSCOLOR is where the main "highlight bar" is held, the horrible green crap..
A lot of the "Today Screen" colours are held here;-
HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\COLOR
39 = Start Menu Text
4 = Today Colour - If you only used the default M$ Today and not TouchFlo.
34 = The Green used in highlights, but the GWE overrides this setting afaik.
I use Win6.1 rather than 6.5 but I'd say the basics stay the same'ish tbh, if your after changing colours while using Manila then you'll need to alter the correct files to change their colour schemes.

Does anyone know how i can changed the color of my folders in WM6 to any other color instead of white? i would like to change it to something like this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334781&page=3
i also attached a picture so that you can see what it looks like.
use this software:
http://freewareppc.com/utilities/uitweaker.shtml
i've been using it for quite some time now. it's quite stable but changing the background colors takes some effort....not to mention a number of soft resets.
the app has like 4 sections:
pt explorer - not really used
tdyscheme changer - for changing your today scheme fonts, colors, etc
syscolor change - * this is the one you need *
wm5 color change - you can also use this. don't worry about the wm5 tag. i use wm6 and it still works fine
when opening the system color change tab, you can scan around the drop down menus to change whatever section you want. example, if you want to change the windows color, just drop to that menu and thus make the necessary changes.
it takes some getting used to as well but it works just fine. oh, and when you're done changing it'll ask to soft reset to enable the said changes.
I ran into this "problem". I changed my background to a picture and used the bg 4 all utility to have the same background on all manila tabs, but now my backgrounds are also changed in the SMS reading panel 'threaded sms), the contacts screen and maybe some others screens too. Because this text is in black, my changed background makes the text very hard to read and it should be changed to white if possible. Does anyone know if and how you can change the text color?
I searched the forum, but didn't find answers.
same problem
i have also this problem.
i deleted this app.but i love it
help help help
is there anyway to make this problem
Would also like to know if there is any update on this, the other alternative I have posted a thread for is how to have a little more customization over where the background goes, e.g. select to leave default background on contact edit window etc etc.
Hopefully someone can help?
Jody
Update on this, found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479112&highlight=curtain
The stocklite CAB allows what we were after, only the manilla tabs get the background, the ones with the white background remain.
I am running it successfully on Dutty V3
I haven't personally tried the background for ALL tabs and apps yet, but this does sound intriguing. I have spent ages playing around with an APP that changes ALL the text, pop-up, bars, scrollbars, title, background etc etc colours, in an attempt to have a completely black background and crisp white text (ie. like TF3D). However... there are limitations to this, and it is VERY hard to achieve a consistant and fuinctional look (since many colours are shared, and quite often you come across a pop-up or menu items that are the same colour).
But... if the APP you mention underlays a black background image in PocketOutlook without actually changing the preset windows colour... this may actually work.
Here's the freeware to tweak colours (UI Tweaker): -

I'm definitely interested to see if anyone else gets somewhere with this?
Hi, i was just wondering if there was a way of changing the look of text messages. Its all fancy when it touchflo showing the last message received, but as soon as i reply or go to all messages, its a horrible white screen and very plan. Anyone got any solutions to this? Thanks.
Hi
Consider upgrading to one of the latest Rhodium/Topaz ROMs where HTC have included this area of Windows Mobile within their customisation and done a reasonable job of hiding our very own Ugly Betty (WinMob 6.1)
Regards
H
the other way around is using a proggie like sktools to change system colors of winmo parts (a bit like righclicking on our win PC desktop/properties/appearance)
just changes colors anyway
Programs that change the system colours seems like a great idea until you start doing it, i too hate the boring messaging colours, i wanted white letters on a black background, but although u can easily change them u soon realise its not workable, changing "window background colour" to black also changes signal bars to black, & it also changes internet pages such as facebook to black, but when u then change text colour to white for messaging it leaves web pages with black type on black ! & notification text would also be black on black, you end up trying different combinations for ages then reverting to standard.
yup thats the crap of it
like in pc windows anyway
Hey All!
Have used search many many times, and tried searching Google, but can't find any result!!!
I have tried many Shell UI programs like ThrottleLauncher, Wisbar Advance, PointUI and SPB MobileShell. Of all these, SPB seems the most polished.
Whilst these apps manage to hide the ancientness that is WindowsMobile 6.1, it doesn't allow you to skin the scrollbars, buttons or dropdown menus. Can anyone think of a way to do this? Maybe something that does the same job as PalmRevolt does on Palm OS?
Surely it'd be a case of finding a program that can replace some icons / settings in the Windows Directory...
I'm keeping SPB Mobileshell too.. Its just that I'm resigning to the fact that I'll be stuck with WinMo6.1 on my Palm Treo Pro for quite some time!
Thanks all!
I'm still going to use SPB, but thought this woud

Click to collapse
Using a resource editor, it is possible to skin almost everything. It's just a bunch of dlls, exes and registry entries. I use PE Explorer and it's great and very powerful, but it does cost quite a bit of money..

No unfortunately its not possible. At most you can alter themes, as I am sure you already know. The only other thing you can do is change the size of the scroll bars in the registry, and if you set their width to 0, they disappear... A setting like 2, makes them thin enough that they indicate where you are, but can't really be used.
Apart from that, you already have the right idea with SPB, Point UI, etc. You may want to know that PointUI hides more of the oem interface with the pay version and will be adding a dialer among other things in the next update. You did not mention Manilla... I don't use it b/c I just don't have the time to deal with new ROM bugs, but nonetheless it does the best the best job at hiding winmo, and has the most skinned elements...
EDIT: Just read the above post... I guess it is possible.
OK, decided to add some addtional stuff
Altering WM menu system and Dialogs
Try this program
FingerSuite
or
Try the extracted HTC Menu app
or
Edit the Menu Font size registry key for a less pretty effect, but it means one less program to install.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\gwe\menu\popfnt
and change the value for the "Ht" entry to "1000" decimal (from 1200).
play around with 800, 900, and 1000 and see which suits your personal preference
Modifying Scroll Bars
Change the thickness of scrollbars
To change the thickness of the scrollbars at the right/bottom of documents larger than the screen, adjust...
For the horizontal (bottom) scrollbar:
HKLM\System\GWE\cyHScr = 9 (DWORD decimal)
For the vertical (right) scrollbar:
HKLM\System\GWE\cxVScr = 9 (DWORD decimal)
The default thickness is 13. You can set the value to anything you may like
Change the length of scrollbar arrow buttons
To go with changing the thickness of the scrollbars, you may wish to change the length of the scrollbar arrow buttons...
For the horizontal (bottom) scrollbar arrows:
HKLM\System\GWE\cyVScr = 0 (DWORD decimal)
For the vertical (right) scrollbar:
HKLM\System\GWE\cxHScr = 0 (DWORD decimal)
The default length is 13. You can set the value to pretty much anything you like
Found another useful app for handling scroll bar color, background colors ect.
UITweaker

Further down in that thread someone gives this link which seems usefulhttp://mobile-sg.com/software/?platform=ppc
Hmm, real pity nothing can be done to skin those ugly looking scrollbars, eventhough SPB or any other software will beautify the look as well as experience of using the device, the scrollbars will still leave a signature stating "I am the ugly looking WM 6.1"
I just recently flashed SNN Diamond on my Wizard and I'm loving it so far but I do have one caveat. When I put a customized background on my today/home, the drop-down start menu adopts the same image as its background. I don't want my drop-down start menu to have a background image, I'd prefer it to be a plain color. How do I change it? You would think that this is a simple thing to do but I have been at it for a day, still no luck. Any ideas guys?
I looked into the regisry of wp7 rom when cooking my rom and came across this
in a Reg_SZ file. ( Cant be edited with any file explorer realtime in device)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Settings]
"Anchor Color"="0,0,255"
"Anchor Color Visited"="128,0,128"
"Background Color"="255,255,255"
"Text Color"="0,0,0"
and a few more entries there which i am not sure of.
the colour codes refer to the background and font colours in IE
But however if we are able to change these colours in Osbuilder registry editor , recook a new rom and install into device, it may possible benefit those Amoled screens like the samsung omnia 7 with better battery life.
to invert colours one should swap them
"Background Color"= "0,0,0"
"Text Color"="255,255,255"
that's nice work!but my second device don't change the regisry!
the 2 entries i posted are regarding colours ... but iam sure there re more other entries to change .. which i am not sure of.
