Has anyone successfully paired their phone with an external TomTom One device? (so you can use their travel subscription service)
I cant get mine to work, as it comes up with an message:
"The Required features could not be found for this phone"
surely a phone like the Desire should be good enough to be compatible?
i know that with Windows Mobile phones Microsoft removed Bluetooth DUN (Dial up networking) from Windows Mobile 6 but you could get a file to fix that.. (could this be the same problem?)
Is there anything out there to fix this problem? or do you know anything about this issue
Any help appreciated, thanks
Hi Guys,
wow, 236 views, but I was kinda hoping someone may have the same problem, or give me some idea how to get around this issue.
Is there any help you can give?
I know that using PDANet for Android, you can create a Bluetooth DUN connection to the Desire from a laptop, so I suppose it might work from a TomTom.
Regards,
Dave
I was really hoping that would be the answer.. Sadly, it doesnt work, but thanks for the info.
I hope there is some way around this issue.. As ive read a lot of other people have the same issues.. :-(
Not possible. You need a kernel with btdun built into it, which none do. I've given up trying to find a solution myself. There is a bug/feature request filed on Google support, but with pretty much anything else on there it just gets shunned by them.
Bugger,,, i was hoping to sort this ready for when i get a TomTom Urban Rider,,,, ah well thats why god invented cardio Scalas, that can hear both TomTom and Phone seperately
Ok my Urban Rider and my Desire are talking to eachother, tonight im getting my Scala and ill be testing that for calls (make and receive) and instructions etc
ill see how it goes
My wife;s Blackberry Pearl is seen by my tomtom ... ( one )
But it has never connected to my phones.. TouchHD .. etc... and now my Desire...
It finds im on orange .. finds everything .. but when I connect it fails with that error ... no function on phone.. however
My phone links fine with my Nissan Qashqai ntec , ( via bluetooth ) I use it as my " duke" box " fab .. phone calls are fine.. music comes out of all the speakers fine...
So linking it to my Tomtom is not an issue ...
Since desire doesnt have the BTDUN can you explain a bit more as to how you did it..
I'm jealous!
Linking your phone via bluetooth to your tom tom shouldnt be a problem, what is a problem with the functionalty of the BT link, majority of phones will support calling and receiving via the tom tom, only a few phones will support read and send sms and an even rarer few will support live services (if your tom tom does not already have a built in sim).
The reason for this as mentioned before was BTDUN is old and no longer included. there is some software called PDAnet that includes BTDUN. Have you tried this yet?
yeah, sadly i tried PDAnet but couldnt get it to work.. nearly, but it failed still, such a shame.. and im still in search of a solution as at the moment i have to remove my sim from my phone and use an old sony ericsson phone instead that does work..
still cant believe that tomtom cant update this, or that android cant work..
*annoyed*

Help.
I've been searching all over for a handle on this one and have been singularly unsuccessful.
Initially, I encountered this error when trying to install GPSGate. I couldn't get any version to install and the Java version threw the following error -
... cannont be installed because the permission javax.microedition.io.connector.bluetooth.client is not available on this device. -58 Please contact your operator for more information.

Dis-heartened, but not yet suicidal, I took this setback like a man and promptly went out and bought a cat to kick.
I have now encountered the same error whilst messing about with Bluetooth Remote Control v.3.0 and consequently, the cat is looking worried.
Is there a way round this problem or is there some problem with the way Java support for BlueTooth is implemented on the Excalibur?
I'm using Ricky's V.23 with Opera.

i dont think you wanna mess with him...he looks like hes all business.
Now that's funny.
Not terribly helpful, but undeniably funny.
oh, you must not know me.
im useless.
sorry if i got your hopes up.
Okay.
It appears that the Bluetooth API, JSR-82, isn't implemented in Java for Windows Mobile devices - hence the problems I've been having. This also explains some problems other users have had with apps. such as Bluetooth Hack etc.
So: although Java is a cross-platform language, a big bit of the dictionary is missing for us.
Choked.
Anybody who knows more about Java than me, (and that's everybody), managed to splice the missing bits in? Knows of a version we can work with? A work-around?
I have heard a rumour that Esmertec are working on a new version for Windows Mobile but no firm information, so that's probably wrong aswell.
Very sad.
Sniff.
Some input or the cat gets it ...
... right.
So you all know how to implement JSR-82 into Esmertec on the Dash/Excalibur but have decided that, for my own good and a bloody-good laugh, to keep this information from me.
Okay. That's fair enough.
I would probably only do something silly with it anyway.
So I say to you, arbiters of all things known, how do I make the non-Java versions of GPSGate and something akin to Bluetooth Remote Control work on my Dash/Excal?
In case you think you can leave me twisting in the wind whilst you snigger up your sleaves, I leave you with the following equation -
x+y+a=z
Where x = A bloke
y = A cat
and a = A new roll of Gaffer tape.
What is z?
Think about it and see how you can help me, and the cat, in our hour of need.
I thank you.
So you won't talk eh?
Okay.
You leave me no choice but to answer the above equation by way of demonstration.
If you're squeemish, look away now.
In the equation; z=
It's no good belly-aching now, this is your fault. You made me do it. I didn't want to. Oh no! This is on your head. Hang that head in shame at your craven lack of concern for a fellow creature ...
hahahah.
Hi Folks i´ve got a problem with my HTC Blue Angel.
I´ve upgraded recently to wm6 (Helmi R0).
And i thought why dont watch movies on my device.
This all worked fine but if i am using my (original) headset the sound is cracking and the music is like a noise in the Background and sometimes i can hear the singer (just the vocal of the singer not the music).
But if i use the internal speakers of my device Everything is Fine and the sound is just like it is supposed to be, and i dont now why.
Another Problem is that i´ve never used my headset until now and i cant tell if somethings wrong with the headset or the headset "port".
Hope you can help me and sorry for my bad English my last lesseon was in another millenia ;-).
greets Sokra X
Yes
your problem is your headset.
But i recomend you to upgrade your BA even more cause your ROM from Mr Helmi is too old... i use that rom just to upgrade my first time And I cant tell you for sure if it has issues on sound... I dont think so but... you can eliminate once at the time your options if nothing happends with software... your trouble is your hardware...
I hope it answer you or help you a little, your english is fine I think better than mine jeje... good luck.
Do you know about the volume control on your headset ...?
Seems to be right that the problem is my Headset I "played" a little bit with it today and if i don´t stick it in completly the sound´s allright.
I´ll buy a new one soon and hope that the problem will be fixed.
Good sugest about upgrading the room but I like to have my pda in my native language.
Well English´s fine for reading Comics and watching TV but I am working with my pda so I prefer german as the language and as far as i know there is only a translation package for the helmi R0 version avaible.
Please Correct me if I am wrong I am more then willing to give a newer version a try.
greets and thx from Sokra X
is the default??
If your headset is the original default... it must work with your device but if is not... the pin cant attach as well on the audio plug.... this is so delicated... i cant found any converter to the plug it sucks...!
I use a pioneer earphones

Hi readers,
I got my Blackstone for a few days now. I know sorta how Windows Mobile works, because i had a HTC Touch ELF before. Now i installed Windows Live, and Skype. And i cant get any of them to work.
I searched a lot, and all said problem with proxy etc etc, but i dont got all that. Opera works fine, TouchFlow can get everything from the internet aswell, but my IM messengers are lazy and give errors.
I got T-Mobile NL, i tryed to put the connection manually with the information privided by T-Mobile, i tryed to let him autoconfigurate it, but all without succes.
I posted some screenshots, with the error, and how my internet configuration is.
I use Dutty's rom, but the origional rom didnt make it work either.
So, anyone with the same problem, or someone know a solution, pleace let me hear.

Hmm, hard question? Or do i ask a stupid one.
I somehow got Skype to work, but somehow Windows Live Messenger is irritating by balls of. It's still not working. Tryed to put 3G of, nothing, no proxy, no nothing. It must be loving to iritate me.
Ive got this problem too, i think the messenger only works with wifi...(at least that the only way i can get it to work).

I've had this little bug too, Messenger refuses any other connection than Wifi, or only 3G. There was a new version released not long ago, look here http://home.mobile.live.com/ and maybe the update will help you

Hmm, the link you provided i cant see any download link, tough http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505188 will link you to it.
And it works
I dont know whats been up w/ my tilt 2, but i just received a new phone today (sent the last one in for RMA because i thought it was defective) but this phone is doing the same exact thing. When in initially go to setup my phone (using the NRG ROM) the bluetooth headset connects, but only to Hands Free. But for some reason i cannot get it to connect to Stereo Audio. I've tried it with two of my Sony Headsets and it just wont work. Every time i try it just says "Connection Failed" with Stereo Audio, but Hands-Free connects just fine. I dont think its the headsets, as they connect just fine to my fuze (touch pro) and my original tilt (tytn ii). Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? I really need to get this fixed by this coming Monday
i'm not sure if this is because of the widcomm vs ms bt stack issues that some people have been talking about. but here's a pic of what my phone shows when attempting to connect

Exactly the same issue I have with my Jensen and my NoName headphones, Both require manual intervention each time but the 'headset' connects fine. So have you replaced the stack with the MS one? Are you on a custom ROM?

no i haven't replaced it...i'm hoping someone will come up w/ a method allowing us to replace the widcomm w/ the ms stack. you're able to manually connect it? i can't even do that
This is very similar to the problem I outlined here. At first I thought it was related to the set of headphones that I was using, then I thought it might be related to Wm 6.5 and my AT&T Tilt 2, but now it appears that it's probably something that HTC has tweaked...?
Just recently I tried to pair my headphones with my friends T-Mobile Touch Pro2 Wm 6.1 and I got the very same connection issue as illustrated in the screen shot above. I've been without the use of my headphones for a month now. I sure hope somebody can help us solve this issue.
