Hi all,
just installed ROM Manager on my rooted Desire with stock rom,
wanted to backup current ROM.. it said I have to flash ClockworkMod Recovery first.
Clicking on the install, after selecting "HTC Desire" it says: "An error occurred while downloading your recovery." :|
Someone got any idea of why ?

And.. while at it.. doing a ROM backup will also save all the screens config (widgets etc.) ?
Thanks
Could be an issue with the server, try reinstalling ROM manager to see if that helps.
Yes, a ROM backup will backup a complete image of your ROM allowing everything to be restored as it was before you backed up.

reinstalling didn't help.. hope is a server problem
Thanks can repport i'm getting the exact same error unfortunately it doesn't seem like there is much to do.
Has to be a server issue then i guess.

I've updated using ROM manager, and using latest version ClockworkMod 2.0.1.4, if that's what you meen?
Yep but also ensure that you have placed the ClockworkMod zip (provided in link above) to the root of your sd card and then install it via ROM Manager by choosing the 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' option.
You should be able to boot into the custom recovery after that.

USB mount your SD card, and run a chkdsk and make sure it is clean. I recently had this same looking issue and it was fixed by a chkdsk.

I had the same error recently when attempting to download applications on meXdroid ROM. It would only happen when I downloaded the ROM and gapps through ROM manager. Once I found and downloaded the direct zips from their website, I was able to have it running with no problem.

I'm assuming you did all this previously through ROM manager?
If so, make sure you check the MD5, full wipe, and flash through recovery with the zips from the above links. If not, I don't know if this will really help.

Is it possible to flash twrp through my phone without using a pc? How can I do it?
Sent from my SGH-T999V using xda app-developers app
You can flash it through recovery, if you already have a custom recovery. If you do not, the only other way is Mobile ODIN (from the Play Store), and you need to be rooted for that to work.
If your phone is already rooted, install the Goo Manager app from the PlayStore and select Install OpenRecovery Script from its menu. That will download and flash TWRP. Be sure Goo is granted root access.

I would do that but i have my doubts. It says that it is going to flash d2can recovery. I have d2tmo. I wont risk a brick. Any idea what d2can is?

It should automatically search for the recovery intended for the phone, which in this case is the d2tmo. Can you provide a screenshot of exactly what is being displayed?

Hmm, interesting. If you are 100% ABSOLUTELY sure your phone is a Tmobile T999 phone, then I would follow the alternative installation instructions on TWRP's website for the d2tmo version.

Just for the record, the d2 recoveries are interchangeable to the best of my knowledge. They all go to the same partition, so no bricks. However, if you don't get the proper one, no assert checks will pass.
Hey!
I now looked into my wildfire and got a question:
When I start into recovery (vol - and Power) I first come into another menu, which makes me wonder, cuz before I had a Samsung Galaxy GT-S5670 and had not such a menu. Then I chose Recover, and it starts with a version 4 CWM, written revolutionary in big letters.
I now read, that there is a newer version (5 and also beta 6).

Now the questions:
Should I change and
- if yes, to which version
- how?
If you need additional Infos, please let me know.
thanks in front

Yea, you should upgrade to version 5.x.x.x.x as I believe that the revolutionary version of cwm has the charging bug. If you have a look for the cwm version 5 thread in the dev section you can download a pg49img.zip version of the recovery. You can then place zip file onto your SD card and then boot into the Bootloader . use volume up to allow the update and your done

Yes 4 and 5 are also compatible, shouldn't matter which CWM version you have.
I suspected as much thanks for the clarification

When I tried to install both RemPuzzle 4.0.1 and CyanogenMOD 4.0 with CWM 5.x, the Aroma menu was completely unreadable: there were just some horizontal white lines.
Then I updated to CWM 6.x, as indicated by other users, and after it all was fine.

Could this be caused by Custom Recovery TWRP 2.7?
Battery is at 30%, but I don't think it has anything to do with this.

Stock Rom? If so, it will only install with stock recovery.
TWRP recovery only installs custom Rom/s and custom Rom updates (if the custom Rom supports ota updates).

Hello, guitarboy21. Yes, I used FreeGee to install TWRP (version 2.6.3.6, something like that), ant then updated it to the TWRP 2.8.1.0 modded version using Flashify. And all worked out ok.
But first, before doing like explained here, I tried using LGOG Pro Recovery + TWRP using Flashify, and it softbricked my phone. So I unbricked it flashing the Stock 4.4 KitKat KDZ and did the procedure following the steps in this topic.
Gladly, now I think it's all good.
Thank you for your help!
Hey man! Congrats! Sorry it bricked your phone but its nice to hear that it worked. If you had flashed using freegee directly it wouldve bricked ur phone. Anyway, hows the experience? Is everything working good?
Do you have the option to disable capacitive keys and enable softkeys? I can help if ud like it.

It isn't really an unlock. It is more of a boot certification bypass.
