I used to have the origional STOCK EVO installer or update. Since I flashed Damage 3.2.2 I cant use it. Is there a stock updater ya know the exe kind that I can just run and go to a stock updated
Have you tried the "how to go back to stock / unrooted" thread about 6 posts down from your new post on the same page? That's the only exe auto-unrooted method I know of.

Well Im having problems with my current rom and i would like to go back to the stock rom. Now I went here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685835 and tried the .exe and the zip but none of them work. Im currently using MIUI V 12.3 final. Since that thread is more than 6 months old there has to be some other ways. This is killing me any help would be great.
Do you want to keep root? If not, just run one of the recent ruu's.
If you do want to keep root, just download the sprint lovers rom, and follow the instructions in the thread. It's that simple.
Does anybody use nandroid anymore?
Always nandroid the stock rom after its rooted and has a custom recovery.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
i actually had 3 or 4 back ups of the original rooted stock but when i went to restore of them they werent there. I either deleted by accident or something else happens. i always back up my roms.

Now, this is a simple question, but I'm not going to flame. If you want to UNroot then this is what you want (this is the most current 3.70.651.1 software)

I'm using the viperrom 3.0.3 and I like it but I much rather have the original rom
wat do u mean by the original rom? Are u talking about stock 2.1 or stock 2.2?
How to go back to stock/fix a bricked epic
You'll probably want to get DI18 image instead of DG27 and the follow the instructions in that thread.
Why do you want to go back to stock rom?
the best way to go back to stock is to download odin and here the tar file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794138
You probably also want the 512 .pit considering that is basically the formatting map for the rom, the kernal, and the modem.
I am still a bit of a noob, I used the one click root to root my Epic 4g, but I am running an old version of CWM 2.5 I believe. I want to get 2.2 when it comes out but people keep telling me to flash a rooted one with odin, what is odin?
The one-click gave you cwm 2.5.1.0. In order to get the ota, you will have to go back to stock recovery. Odin is a program for your pc to flash your phone and can put the stock recovery back. You can upgrade to cwm 3, but you still won't get the update. Shortly after the ota drops, there will be both cwm and odin flashable images to update your phone without waiting for the ota.
how do I update my CWM to 3? is it easy?

ok... so let me make sure I have this straight:
you currently have stock 2.1 but are rooted with oneclick root and you want to upgrade to CWM3?
ext4 is more or less the way our phone store files. Stock uses something called rfs, ext4 is supposed to be a faster and "better" file storage system (but we won't debate that in here )
If you want to install CWM3, I believe you must aslo convert to ext4 (someone please correct me if I am wrong). Doing this conversion and root is exactly the same process as the oneclick root you did. Simply extract the files and run run.bat with your phone plugged in with usb debugging enabled. You should be able to do this with your out of date version of CWM installed still since this is basically just an upgrade.
HOWEVER, since the official froyo 2.2 update is literally right around the corner, my suggestion is to not do anything as of yet and see if you receive the OTA update this upcoming week. Since you are simply rooted, you should still be able to get it. If for some reason you do not receive the OTA update, the developers here will have already created a flashable rom to use with odin or they may have an update.zip file you can run from your phone.
Thanks that cleared things up for me a bunch I now just need to wait and see if I can get the ota update.
Hi i currently have stock rom but have it rooted. Can someone provide me with a link to update my phone to the new update w/root or let me know what I need to do? Thanks!
Also I am not sure if I am running ext or rfs can some tell me how to figure that out?
A great place to start learning about modding the Epic are the QBKing77 videos on youtube. Just search for them or check out the links to his videos in most of the OPs in the development section. There are a ton of custom roms to play with right now, as well as the stock EI22 Gingerbread rom that came out OTA.
Thanks as I said though I am already rooted but unsure if its ext 4 or RFS I need help figuring that out and then I think I can just odin it from their.
I wish to stay on stock.
Might I suggest taking a look at the MostlyStockROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339579
You can even go to the "old links" and choose to download the deodexed only first release which is Stock + doedexed + root. Or choose one of the newer releases which has the fixes/features you want.
If you want EI22 Fully Stock then I believe you will need to unroot your existing install and install the OWA. I haven't seen a stock ODIN method but may have missed it.
I see. How do I unroot my phone?
odin back to stock ec05.
ok so then how do I root my phone after going back to stock updating then what?
Or couldn't I just do a factory reset then update?

Once you odin back to stock ec05, it'll do the OTA update onto ei22. That's how I did my phone. Warning, once you odin back, you'll lose all your app and data.
I'm not worried about that I have titanium back up pro. their has got to be a easier way to do this though. Before All I had to do was Odin to the next update and that was it (eco5) now I have to odin back to stock remove root then update and then reroot...... thats a lot of work.
Is their a way to do this without un-rooting my phone?
Also can someone shoot me a link to a tutorial on going back to stock?
Also once root is removed I take it I would have to re root it. (this is ridiculous un root, update, reroot)
So what DO i do to re-root it?

you can just download the file and install it using CWM but i'm 0 for 2 with this method.

Follow the video that babystewie posted. I've used it twice, both succeeding with no issues what so ever. It will allow you to update to GB with root, but will give you a stock version of GB. If you're interested in rooting GB as well, check the video description and there's some more videos.
There are a lot of mostly stock roms or even just a cwm flashable ei22 in the development section. You'll keep root and won't have to go through using odin so many times.
what do you mean a stock version of gingerbread? also I already have clockwork if that helps does it mean i have ti do anything different if i want to keep root?
There really is no completely stock Gingerbread ROMs because we don't have the tar file for the Odin flash. There are several ROMs in the Development thread (where the ROMs are) that are mostly stock. You can simply flash one of those, and if you want the EI22 modem, you can flash the EC05 to EI22 modem updater found in the stickies in development. I recommend you start here:

Does it matter if I upgrade to the new baseband before or after installing Cyanogenmod?

it doesn't matter. the upgrade will revert your ROM to stock & locked either way. You'll need to use the jcase_rootme zip file to get root back after you upgrade to the new baseband. Should be able to find it on here or on android central. I can't remember but I think both forums have links to it.
You want to do it before. The update will revert you back to total stock. Then you need to root and install a custom recovery again. To update to the ZV9 Go here: http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-all-things-root/563443-guide-how-flash-zv9-update-step-step.html
To Root and install a custom recovery in one fell swoop, go here: http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-all-things-root/531810-rooting.html
Don't forget to make a backup of your system in the custom recovery before you try your hand at installing a custom ROM.
Wrong section. You should ask in Q&A

Man, THANK YOU, love the oneClick option...finally out of Z9 HELL.
Sorry for the of topic.
Is there a difference between the 3, or a reason to updating the baseband?
