Ok, I'm mixed up and maybe I still have too much noob left in me. I've got a rooted phone, software version 1.32.651.6. I know there was an update but I didn't do it b/c of fear of losing my root. So, what I did do was update some things "manually." I now have Baseband 2.05.00.06.10, and PRL Version 60667. I also flashed new Wimax as found within these forums. My question now is: I'm hearing about PRI version. How do you update this? And, is it necessary or useful? And finally, was there anything other than the above changes that I'm missing as a result of not doing the OTA?
Any info on any of these questions would help.
Thanks!
After downgrading my PRI to 1.34_003 (using the NAND unlock), I have not been able to receive text messages from AT&T. I have tried everything I possibly could to restore the PRI, but am helpless because it's an issue that resides in the roms themselves, according to toast (forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6845492&postcount=75). I am really hoping that we can find a way to update back to the stock 1.40_003 or better yet, an updated version. That's just my 2 cents!

Hmm thats strange. I have no problems sending or receiving from AT&T. All my friends but 2 are on it (one T-Mo & one Sprint) and I have no problem whatsoever messaging them.

Hey guys just wondering if there has been a fix or anything for the PRI or if anyone knows of a method that wont get rid of the newest PRI?
No there is not

Do you know the purpose of the PRI? I had heard that it has to do with coverage, I just dont want to do the root then get worse signal then I already had..
I have read that is has something to do with data speed but that is not a sure thing I had never heard of a PRI until recently
Yeah, its just unfortunate that in order to root that the PRI is downgraded, and not to mention that no one knows how to get the update once you have. I had to return a phone to Sprint when I got my new Evo due to screen issues and I had all the newest OTA updates and it would not update the PRI.
I recently updated my pri to 1.4 and found that you can't make calls or surf the web when roaming. How do I revert back to 1.3?
*UPDATE* I was able to get roaming to work on 1.40. No need to revert back now

Can you direct me to where i can find this? I think i flashed the wrong one..
just re-root with simple root?
Don't re-root. Go to Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Wipe and everything will work. If it doesn't, call Sprint from your landline and talk to them. They'll do some hocus-pocus on their end, and have you do a Factory Data Wipe.
So I flashed a pc36img (not sure if this is the right one) and it didn't change my pri...

The only way I could possible think to revert would be to do the original method you used to get pri 1.34 because Rooting your phone is what caused the PRI to downgrade in the first place...
Engadget states that Verizon is going to push the official 2.2 Froyo update tomorrow for all HTC incredible users.
IF this is true I have a few questions. I'm currently rooted and running Sky Raider 3.0 RC2. I did a nand backup of my old original 2.1 Stock sense rom. If i revert back to that, can I just check for updates and apply the new stock 2.2 Froyo rom that is pushed from verizon?
Thanks,
ej_424
It is true. Unlike previous rumors, VZW employees were told today (this afternoon) and it shows on their bulletin screens now.
That and sometime between 1pm and 2:30pm they updated the support page.
So who's gonna jump in and who's gonna wait?
Please answer my question on how to go about updating. I'll jump in but want to knwo what process i have to take. Is there a chance that I wont be able to re-root if i go with the OTA update?
why go through the trouble of unrooting and going back to stock just to receive an update "officially" thats already been rooted and simplified here in 2 threads?

Honestly.. It's pre-rooted, and is almost positively the exact same as the official OTA.. why bother?

Honestly there is so much information out there. Do what I did when I first got my Incredible. Do a search, and read, read, read. Mind you when you're done your head is going to be spinning. But that is the best way to get all the information you need.
To answer your question.
it was said along time ago that accepting the 2.2 OTA may cause you to not be able to re-root.
now, unrevoked forever takes S-OFF and with this you can accept the 2.2 OTA and still keep root, it was permanent, but with the new release of S-ON there is absolutely no reason not to use S-OFF, then un-root, if you want the "official" 2.2.
I thought that SkyRaider 2.5.2 and 3.0 were built off of the previous leak of FroYo 2.2...am I wrong? I love SkyRaider Vanilla, so I don't get giving that up for an "official" OTA? Maybe it is for some, but I don't see what else you'd really get that you don't have yet that was built into the 2.2 ROM's...
Mods will probably move this to Q and A,
But, you have to provide more info as what radio you are on, hboot.., etc. There are several threads started providing info as to how to prepare yourself...
I mean, the leak OTA has been ripped apart and placed all of this forum. The only thing you can get from verizon will be the satisfaction of a cool Blockbuster app and more vzw crapware, but hey if its what you want

Skyraider pre2.0 was based off an evo port, yes. 2.0 and onward is based off the leak, hence the necessity of the radio upgrade.
Gotcha. That's what I thought, as when I installed SkyRaider 2.2, I remember getting an email saying "thanks for registering your Nexus One" or something like that... Thank you for confirming, much appreciated!
Your recovery image must be stock as well. There are several threads that provide the needed file to return the DInc back to 100% stock/pre-root (just make sure S-OFF is applied first).
Mandatory OTA?
I read the pdf files from Verizon's website on the expected 2.2 OTA, and it says it is MANDATORY. That the only options it gives you are install and DELAY install. That it will keep bugging you every 30 minutes til you do !
I have used Unrevoked3, and Unrevoked Forever and love the phone as it is now (particularly the wifi tether). I want to avoid the OTA but do I HAVE to accept it? If I do, I hope I can reload the version I got with Unrevoked3.
(I assume that Verizon will, in their new version make you PAY to wifi tether)
Any info on this?
Thanks

I'll be pissed if thats the case. gotta do everything all over again. But if we're already @ 2.2 shouldn't it recognize that and not force the OTA to even appear on our phones?
I'm still pretty new to this so sorry if I sound like a complete outsider lol
For those of us who've rooted, forever'd, upgraded radio, and installed some leaked version of Froyo already -- if/when we get prompted to update the phone should we accept or deny it?
With the OTA update will be a radio update as well. And if they attempt to install over the same version won't that be the same as manually attempting to update it twice which equals brick?
Or will the update detect an upgraded radio already and skip that step?

IIRC, you will only be prompted if you have sock recovery installed. As for the OTA, it includes updates to the radio and HBOOT. The update doesn't check to see if you already have an upgraded radio because, in theory, no consumer should have it yet.

If this is the case, there will be a whole lot of bricks out there, right? I thought I read that if you flash a radio twice you're bricked. Maybe not with S_Off.

Not a 100% sure but I think its only if you flash a radio.diff twice you get brick.
Never the less just don't have the updated radio with old builds and stock recovery and all should be fine.

That applied because the prior unrEVOked hack was simply a diff ... it patched. So if you apply the patch to the patch, THEN you brick. Flashing a wholesale radio (while higher on the danger scale) is not the same.

Pretty sure a firmware update might have taken away your root. Boot into bootloader and make sure your still s-off?
That error code means you need to re-provision your phone. Call sprint from a different phone and tell them it needs to be re-provisioned and you'll be all set.
thats a tough one. Id hate to see you lose your stuff but have you tried flashing a stock ruu yet?
i run a stock sense rooted with clockwork. im not too familiar with the evo mods as i just got it; coming from a hero.
if it were me, id restore to stock. sorry i cant be of more help...ill keep looking as i have nothing else to do...

sounds perfect.
ive been having hiccups sending messages. perhaps i should call them and have them re-provision.
are you familiar if the provisioning could correct these issues? just curious, im not expecting you to have all the answers so no worries...thanks for the help
yea thats definitely sounds like all you need to do is provision your phone and actually there is probably a tutorial to refresh data somewhere in xda. Also if you are rooted and can get everything sprint can offer you and more right here why would you do an OTA... oh well like everyone has said call Sprint re-provision or look for a thread that shows how to do it but I doubt you need to unroot it..
Dial *2 and you can activate it yourself.

Thank you guys for your help, just updating everyone that I did get this problem resolved!! I was getting "Error Code: 67". I called Sprint explained the issue, they had me take my battery out for 2 minutes. After that, Sprint had me power my phone back on and told me when I get to the home screen to enter: "Menu>Settings>System Updates>Update Profile". I asked them why this happened, when I updated my firmware/prl/profile and they replied "Its common on all of these devices and its considered an overload of data which simply crashes the system. If it happens again take your battery out for 2 minutes, power on, then update your profile through System Updates. Having the battery out for 2 minutes will reset your data and allows a smooth profile update(profile update=DATA Updated). They said its not really necessary to update ANY System settings as your provider will issue a notification asking whether you want to do the update when an update is needed because updates don't just come out like every month. Also if you experience your phone is running slow, acting funny, etc. This same method works for that too."
Also they told me sometimes its needed to call the service provider in cases like mine so they can manually disable incoming/outgoing data to my phone and wait for ME to ask their network for data permissions VIA "MENU>SETTINGS>SYSTEM UPDATES>UPDATE PROFILE".
Hope this helps anyone having the same issue, please note I did this with a fully rooted HTC Evo running MikFroYo v4.4 Rom

When I was using CM's 6.1 Rom, That same thing happened to me. Im not sure what the reason for this is, but honestly I just flashed to MikFroYo v4.4 a week ago and it is BY FAR the BEST Rom I have used, It's Very fast.. I'd recommend switching to that and updating the radio's by simply wiping data and flashing the zip in recovery. No issues on his rom... I know its not because you dont have "Sprintzone" Installed because I dont have that nor any sprint apps on mine and have no problems with FC on system updates.
I'm having the same issue. I'm running CM7 and I called Sprint to help with the re-provisioning. I was following along until she had me enter the ##3282# code. She was expecting something to pop up so I could enter a code she gave me. Well, nothing popped up... It is obvious to me that CM7, and probably most non-Sprint ROMs, don't follow the same menu paths as Sprint does. I'm sure there is a way to go through the procedure Sprint was trying to perform with me, but it's not obvious what it is.
I'm sure someone can tell me what that procedure is... Anybody???
Thank you to everyone who tries to help,
Mike
Flash a Sense rom. Nandroid your CM first. Then the codes will work.
Thanks! This is working for me so far...

ALl you have to do is update your profile from your phone usually using stock rom
Hi all,
I've been disconnected from the Epic community recently. Just the other day I found out about the official Froyo update but my phone has never notified me about this. Also, when I go into settings to check for updates, it tells me there is none.
Every tells me they are up to date; profile, firmware, and Android, but when I try to update the PRL it tells me I need to reset the radio. I have no idea what that means or if it's even relevant to why I cannot upgrade to 2.2.
How do I get my phone to update? I haven't been able to find anything in a search.
If it helps, my PRL version is 60676 and my firmware is 2.1-update 1.
Thanks for any help.
Go under development.. Everything is there. Sprint pulled the official update after people were having issues upgrading from ota. If u odin, root, and install the optimized custom roms, you won't regret it.
