Every Charging Accessory You Need for 4 bucks shipped. - EVO 4G Accessories

Found this guys store after a lot of searching.
You get a retractable usb which you can use to charge your evo through a computer, or included AC wall charger, or included car charger!
The deal is phenomenal but the downside is its shipping from hk.
Also I can't comment on quality of build until I receive it (ships today)
Pics look good though so let's see!
Almost forgot. 12 month warranty.
Sent from my Evo 4G

Not bad, looks like a dealextreme open box item. Deals are great and all but I don't want to trust a $1 item to control the flow of electricity to my phone.
Let us know how it works out.

I didn't either, at first..
I'll let you in on a little secret, I think that whoever makes amzer's accessories makes these too.
Notice the similarity?
http://www.amzer.com/Amzer-2-in-1-U-S-Travel-Charger-Kit-P85522.htm
Exactly the same, except a blue LED instead of red..
Something to think about.
I'll keep everybody informed when it arrives =)

Just thought I'd add my .02, I ordered 2 sets of charging accessories for our 2 EVO's from a US seller on eBay. When they arrived the AC chargers would not charge the phones so you might want to be careful there's something about the charging requirements for the EVO that will not allow just any AC charger work with it. The car chargers seem to work fine, so far.

In that case I threaten to leave bad feedback, get a refund, and give it to someone else.
No harm done
Besides for 3.90something it's really not a big deal

Those things are fuggly

Those look really similar to these http://www.amazon.com/Premium-iPhon...?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1278911609&sr=8-18
I bought this, and they can't charge my phone when it's on... hell I'm not even sure while it's off. It can't charge my iPhone, or my evo.
I think it's the same product.

Just recieved the stuff today (monday)
I was pleasantly surprised.
Build quality is good but not great.
Charges phone quite well!
Using ac I got from approx 96% to full in about 7 minutes.
First thing I did was check the output compared tothe stock charger.
Both are 1A or 1000mA max.
Ill do further tests later.
For now though everything has worked as expected or better.
To me it was a bargain and a good purchase ymmv..
EDIT: While turned off it charged from 15% to full in 2hrs and 40min.
About the same as stock charger, i'd say.

desktop charger

hi everyone...
just wanna know is there any desktop charger for o2 xda exec?
If you have a look at the O2 micro site, they sell a decent desktop charger, probably quite expensive though, or of course, have a hunt on eBay.... personally I'd stick with O2.
Link to O2 micro site.... http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecAcc.html
eBay (just example).... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CRADLE-O2-XDA...104937525QQcategoryZ56166QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Hope it helps.
Also, might interest you, I just ordered a simple battery charger off a guy on eBay, only for the battery so if you got spares you can charge them separately. The guy's called lifestyle0806, has been selling for over 2 years and has 96.6% positive. I was recommended him by a guy on this site. Should receive the item today, will let you know if it's any good if you're interested.

I am using this charger from lifestyle for the last 2 months. It is definately worth the money. Even the battery which comes with it is of good quality and does not have any of the problems some spare batteries seem to have.

I couldn't believe how cheap it was... I paid $18 for the battery AND charger with postage included!!! That's just crazy! Well worth it, I would say to anyone who travels a lot and has a spare few batteries they need charged up.

Is it an external charger like this one (which you have to plugin to normal mini-USB charger or computer USB port to get the power)?
Maybe I got a bad unit because it just won't charge the battery - battery is ok though =) However, on the back it reads "INPUT 5V = 2A", but normal USB chargers only output 5V and 1A... So a working unit should be fine with 1A?
I got pretty much the same unit with extended battery from the other guy on ebay.. digispeak ...
Battery seems to be of the decent quality, still testing how long it will last after few charging cycles..
However, I'm not quite as happy with desktop charger. It seems to cut off charging when battery reaches about 90%. Any clues and experiences?

Car chargers 1000ma?

I'm currently using a regular usb cable to charge my phone directly from my car stereo while driving. The problem is that it takes close to an hour for the battery charge to increase 10% when I'm streaming pandora through bluetooth and using the phone's GPS. I'm assuming that the usb port in my stereo is only capable of putting out 500ma, if not less. Curious to see if anyone knows whether a DC to micro usb cable would give me a faster charge (1000ma). Thanks in advance.
BEst one ive ever used is the official palm one for the pre or pixi. Completely charges the evo from dead to full in about an hour while on the road on a call via bluetooth. Seriously good, verified a while ago on the precentral.net forums that its 1000 mA. They are only like 15 bucks at best buy, or maybe even less on amazon.
Go to amazon or google and search for 12V 1Amp USB charger and that should give you exactly what you need...I use a 1Amp charger for all my devices and works just fine...1 thing to note, that if you have time to use a 500ma charger, let it do it, a little bit slower charge will extend the life of the battery(not necessarily run time, but the length of time the battery will hold as good of a charge).
I use the one below. Works pretty great..5V/1A, exactly what you'd need. The thing says iPod, but it can be used for any USB charged device. An extra nice feature of this charger is that it sits nearly flush with the dash of your car

Cool, thanks for the responses guys. I ended up going with the palm pre charger from amazon, a little pricey at $20, but that's the best deal I could find for it. I'd rather pay a little more than get one that will crap out on me in a month. And it terms of a slower charge (500ma) being more beneficial for a longer battery lifespan, I'd rather dish out $10-$15 in 6 months or so for a new battery than to have to deal with this ridiculously slow charging time
Another option for 1A (1000mA)...
Not to resurrect a dead thread, but I think this may be useful to know:
Several other EVO forums ("fora?") have reported great success with this low-profile charger. I just got it off of amazon myself...

You can also get 1-meter cables from Blackberry themselves on Amazon for $2.50 each, so if you have Amazon Prime, gets you a flexible solution for 11 bucks or so. I have ordered mine and will report back in 2 days...

I'm not allowed to post links yet, but you can search for Scosche to find their products. They make dual port USB chargers.
Scosche makes a couple different models, one is advertised as having 2 amps over the two ports.
On a side note, I tried buying a blackberry micro usb cable off Amazon, and it starts to charge my phone for a second or two and then stops, it's very strange. I think it might work with the home charger, but I didn't check as I didn't notice till later that the charging stopped so soon.
Doing some cleanup and checking threads I promised to respond to...
The Belkin works great, and my wife has the 2-port Scosche. However, for me, NEITHER of them show "Charging(AC)" on either of our 2 Evo's. I have tried the charger in several cars, and same result. Not sure, but I'm guessing they are putting out incrementally less than 1A.
Not sure if that keeps the phone from triggering "quick charge" mode or not.
I just got 2 HTC car chargers from ebay, sent from Hong Kong. It says o/p:5.0V-2A so im not sure if I should use them.. here is what they look like.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170511321504&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Does anyone have a OEM car charger? I would like to know how many amps it puts out. The wall charger is 1A so will 2A kill it? I sure wouldent use it much only if needed.
I have a charger from iGo, works great and has swappable tips so you can use it with other phones or devices, think it was $15-20 with a free tip.

Can someone here confirm that this does deliver the full 1A? There is a review on Amazon from an EVO owner who says his phone sees this as USB and not AC charging.

If you were trying to draw three amps from a 2-amp capacity charger, you could damage the charger. However, a device that draws 1 amp from a 2-amp charger will draw one amp. Chargers don't push more amperage than is demanded: it's up to what the charging device is drawing. You and your device will be fine in having "too much" charger.
Thanks so much for the info. So this charger should work great then when I start using the sprint nav or google maps.

Just received two in the mail.
FAIL
Recognized as USB charging in my car.
plus 1 for resurrecting a dead thread
I bought an off brand one (looks about identical) in a respectable local supermarket. It claimed 1.5A.. so overspecced (and no there's nothing wrong with overspeccing, devices won't draw more power than they can handle so long as the input voltage is correct).
Like the previous poster's belkin experience, my korean SGS (shw-m110s) saw it as a usb, not ac. I took it apart and shorted the data pins together, took about 5 minutes). Then it recognized as AC and charged a little faster I think, but still at empty (the fastest time to charge normally) it charges about 1% (1.5 mAh) in 2 minutes(.033 hours).. which is just under 500mA charge rate (450 but well within the measurement error and 10% loss seems quite reasonable anyway). Anyway, sure as heck isn't able to draw 1A off of it. The wall charger which is supposedly only 700 mA charges several times faster actually! (which is probably quite safe at low charge levels, but sure seems like alot more than 700mA too me, but I didn't measure it as well).
I suspect this gizmo was never actually meant to output 1.5A (as it's not configured as a quick charger) or if it does, it only does it with large losses, and an internal voltage drop that's too excessive for the SGS to still be capable of actually pulling that much current.
Wish I knew what to buy.
I Have been using the official palm charger since June. I picked it up at sprint corporate store or radio shack. It is rated for 1 amp and come with a nice short micro usb.
If I were buying today I would go with one of the Platinum branded items Best Buys sells. I saw them for the first time last night so they must be new. So far I have purchased the Pt branded case for EVO and 2 different mounting kits. All of their stuff seems top quality. The have a 2 amp single usb and a 3 amp dual usb model that I saw.

Car Charger

I searched the forum but couldnt find any information on my particular question.
Is it OK to use a standard car charger and not worry about destroying my phone? I found one on ebay and think it might be a great deal if I dont have to worry about ruining my battery or phone.
It's not letting me post links so heres the item number. 120825299751
Thanks for your input.
Dream: buy best name brand. Reality: using dealextreme or ebay items. I personally have had no issues with ebay chargers. Just get one with at LEAST 1-2 Amp output.

I think one has to be careful about the type of chargers you buy, car or home. I have a G1 and long time ago, when I bought a car charger, I noticed that the phone was running EXTREMELY hot after charging. Even though it was at 100%, the phone was still running very hot while in sleep mode. I was told that there are some chargers that do not have a special "chip or diode" that lets it communicate with the battery/kernel, telling the phone to stop charging.
I'm not sure if that's all true or not but I never took the chance with chargers that I couldn't find reviews on. It's not necessary to buy and EXPENSIVE charger, but more so, buy one that you can find reviews on. Although, reputable and expensive often go hand in hand.
On the OTHER hand, I bought a tmobile car charger at the about this time last year. It was not cheap and it worked very well. Pushed good amperage while charging and had an additional USB slot for more charging. The problem though is that the plug itself is a bit screwy. Only charges in certain positions, and I take care of my stuff so it's a bit of a bummer. So even the expensive, well backed chargers can just randomly fail.
from personal experience the cheap accessories from Deal Extreme are very reliable, still using them after 3+ years
Failing isnt the problem. Its when they burn out your phone with it in a double suicide. Oh make sure they have an internal fuse that will protect your phone against power surges from your car

Thanks guys. The said charger thats on ebay Im looking at is supposedly an OEM sprint charger for the Samsung Epic, so I'm hoping its good quality. I'm just super scared of burning up a battery or ruining my phone. I have had car chargers in the past that did make my phone extremely hot too... so I dont want this to happen again.
oh, the OEM chargers are not very powerful
don't expect it to charge your phone while using the GPS and other stuff

Well Tokie, for your car, u can use something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-Universal-Car-Charger-Pc-2ca/dp/B004YZI1T4
One of the ports will have a 1.5amp output and will suffice to charge your battery quickly.
And if you have a tablet or wanna go ultra crazy in charging your battery n burning it U can use something like this:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0364269
That one has a 2.1amp output as well, enough power to burn a hole in your phone's battery LOL!!

For those of you who are getting an external battery charger, will you let me know if it manages to charge the batteries to 100%? I currently use a universal battery charger, which worked great for my other phone batteries (would charge them quickly and fully, so when I popped them into my phone, it showed 100%), but for whatever reason, when I try to externally charge my Nitro's battery, no matter how long I leave it or put it back on the charger, it will only reach 88% or so. Then I have to fill up the rest by putting the battery in the phone and charging through USB. I know it's not my battery (I have two, and they both do it), so I'm just curious if other external battery chargers might be better. Let me know if it works for you! If it does I'll get whatever kind you have. I'd be super grateful, thanks!
I'm getting a legit LG battery charger specifically for the nitro. It'll take me about 2 weeks to get it (coming from LG itself in Korea) but when it gets here I'll try it n will let u know how it goes.

I ordered 1 extra battery AND the battery/batterycharger/cable from the ebay seller I mentioned earlier.
The batteries seem legit, they last just as long and have identical plastic casings. However, the two batteries I bought from ebay have a different sticker/label on them. They do not have the "FCC" markings on them or any other american legalese on them.
As far as the charger goes, it works great. I carry a battery in my wallet, one in the phone, and one in my backpack. I really like the peace of mind!
I also got mine from that Ebay seller. I'm confident it's legit. The build is identical, and it maintains charge and behaves exactly the same as the one that came with my phone. It's just probably the battery for the Asian Optimus lte, hence no fcc and different labeling. I'm not worried, and I'm pretty careful about batteries.
@red solo cup, do you know if the charger manages to bring the battery to 100%, ie, when you pop it in the phone and turn it on, do the battery stats actually say 100? My current charger brings it to around 90%, which is not bad, but if I'm going to buy another charger, I'd like it to max out the battery completely =) Thanks!
I have not checked Battery Monitor Widget immediately after putting in the battery, so I cannot absolutely confirm that the battery charges to 100%. However, I have noticed that the battery in the notification area was completely full, including the little "nub" on the left of it.
I will check this out when I get back from work tonight.
If the nub's full, it's at least at 95% I'm pretty sure.
Damn, I don't mind getting it from him, but he posted that it will take almost 20 days to a month for the item to get to me! That's frigging much too long for shipping something overseas. Things I get in China or HK doesn't even go beyond 2 weeks the longest.

Has anyone found any dual USB (2.1a and 1a) with 12 - 24v input? I run crane and sadly in most of our cranes the Cig Lighter socket is running 24v.

I found this on amazon. The specifications specifically state: "Input: 12-24V DC; Output: 5.0V DC 2.1Amp" Plus it is only 5.99+free shipping.
I have this and the specs on kensington's website state "Input: 10V-18VDC, Output (30pin/USB): 5VDC-3100mA.", So I assume that will not work.
so if i have to buy a car charger, what is the MAX specs i can use for the LG OPTIMUS LTE?

AT&T Nokia DT-900 QI charger $24.50 + Tax/ DT-910 $51.75 + tax

***UPDATE*** there is an issue with some Nexus 4s and the Nokia DT-900. It appears to be an issue with some N4 implementation of the QI standard. Also does not semi affect all N4s. I don't own an N4 so don't know all the details. If you own an N4 this charger may not work for you.
I recently got a Nokia DT900 referb from ebay (white) for $24.99, and it works great. It includes a power source with a decently long cord.
I just saw AT&T is having a sale on the Nokia DT-900 (various colors):
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/accessories/chargers/sku6290260.html#fbid=BsyWhzJwki0
hope this helps those that missed out on the back-ordered Samsung wireless charger.
Just saw the DT-910 is also on sale for &51.75 plus tax. For those that want a charger that works as a vertical stand. That's the best price I've seen on the DT-910. personally a littler more than I'm willing to spend (money's tight right now).
UPDATE: Someone pointed out that is you have a Premier accout you can get an additional 25% discount if you order two ore more, that's $38.95 after taxes for two ($19.48 each after taxes).
Great find, I'm going to pick one up at my local store tomorrow! Thanks!

great catch! Just ordered 2 of them for the price of one, on top of that if you order 2 accessories, there's an additional 10% off. So for 2 chargers with the discounts and taxes came to 47 bucks.

I like the idea of wireless charging, but can't bring myself to pay $40, $50 or $60+ for a single wireless charger. $25ish is the reasonable area for me, maybe a little more for a charger that stand the device up for use while charging. Alas, all
those are still too pricey for me (Nokia DT-910, Tylt Vu).

I recently got a Nokia DT900 referb from ebay (white) for $24.99, and it works great. It includes a power source with a decently long cord.
I just saw AT&T is having a sale on the Nokia DT-900 (various colors):

hope this helps those that missed out on the back-ordered Samsung wireless charger.

I'm thinking of picking up a wireless charger. Will this charge the tablet as fast as plugging it into an outlet? If not, how much longer does it take?
Thanks

wireless charging is less efficient, so all things being equal it will charge a bit slower.
I saw a chart someone made comparing the charge time of their phone, wireless (inductive) vs standard plugged in charging. It took that particular device (a Nexus 4, I believe) and additional 40 minutes to charge completely. I would assume the nexus 7 would take a bit more than that because of it larger battery. I would guess, and it is just a guess, a little more than an hour extra (75 to 90 minutes extra).
Maybe someone else who has done it can give you better info. I personally like to charge my device befer the go below 50% if it all possible.
I had the same thought you did at first but then someone pointed out that all Micro-USB ports are flimsy and that if you use them every day for charging, the can eventually wear out. So I could see it as an investment. Still haven't seen my way to forking over 50 bucks for the thing, but I may pick one of these up.
I'm not that worried about the usb port breaking. I mainly want the wireless charger just because I think it's cool I've yet to have a usb port break on me. I think I'll try picking one of those up at the att store since 25 seems like a more reasonable price for something I don't really need.

I have the Nokia 910 and it takes 5 hrs for a full charge. Approx 20% per hour. They work great for overnite which is what I use.
-----------------
Went to my local store today and was able to price match their website. So far it seems to be working great! It is even charging through an older folio case that I have that doesn't fit the nexus. So it's good to know that function will still work once the cases I ordered have arrived.
Now, did I need to buy this... no... But like most of my technology purchases I buy them because I want it. I like the ease of just placing it on the pad at night and letting it charge. Also it will keep one less wire floating around and protect the usb port for a bit.
Thanks again, OP!

Was it difficult to price match? I'm planning to pick one up today in-store. The website does say in-store pick up is doable so there probably won't be any issues.

Would they even price match the 10% discount if you buy two?
Tempting to get this. I had this exact charger that I used on my wife's GS3. The trickle charge kept us awake at night, so I sold it on eBay. My wife's GS3 would light up and make a sound when charging hit 100%. Then it would stop charging and restart when the device dropped to around 98%. Each stop and restart lit up the screen and played a notification sound. Not good when it happens next to your bed 8-9 times in the middle of the night. I guess its not a problem of you use a folio style case.
I don't think the USB port is going to break in the 1-2 years I will use this device before replacing it with something newer.
When I tried to select in-store pick up at checkout on the website there was no option to select a store, so I'm assuming I'll have to try to purchase it in-store.

Does the DT900 make the sound or the GS3?
The phone lit up and made a sound. The charger doesnt make a sound but it does have an LED light that turns on when charging.
Just got a black one from my local AT&T store. $24.50 plus tax, and they didn't have to price match it was on sale in the store for the same price. This was in Durham North Carolina near the SouthPoint Mall.
What I didn't realize before purchasing is that uses a proprietary cable, and not a USB cable. But for the price I guess I can't complain

I just picked one up from an AT&T store here in Los Angeles. I advised them of the online sale, but once they scanned it in, it showed up as $24.50. That part took less time than me explaining it to them what I was going to use it for!
Odd color scheme. I got the black one, but the actual power brick is white. Given the price, I can't complain...and it works perfectly.

I just picked this up at AT&T for the 24.50. I can't seem to get it to work with my Nexus 7 though.
Works perfectly with mine.
Have to hit just about dead center of the back and the indicator on the pad goes solid white.
