Hi,
I noticed that the stock browser in FroYo doesn't break the lines when using pinch2zoom, it just works when doubleclicking. Is this a bug or a feature? Actually, I don't like it.
Second thing, is there no possibility to deactivate "mobile view"?
I know I could use another browser, but I would like to use stock browser, as it is the fastest.
Today I flashed both Setrom 2.1a and ShadowFrost 1.3 and with both I had the same issue. Also an annoying zoom in / zoom out bar appered on the bottom of the screen. After trying it for some time I did Nandroid back to 2.1

You can set your UserAgent manually to avoid mobile sites.
Enter about:debug in the adressfield and hit ok.
This will unlock a lot of options when hitting menue->settings
Scroll to the bottom, there you can set your useragent to desktop.
Voila
Edit: use pinch-to-zoom, then doubletab and it will fit text to your screenwith.

Yes I found out that dubbeltap works, but I don't like it that way. Is there a way to let it be the same as on a standard HTC Sense rom?

i don't know if that's possible.
the "workaround" i posted above seems to be the only way.
but i don't think hat doubletapping after zooming in with the pinch-to-zoom gesture to make the text wrap is such an issue, as the result is the same, text-wrap is just not "automatic".

It's perfectly clear what you mean, but I just don't like it this way. So for me it is an issue. The question that the OP asks is fairly simple, is it a bug or a feature? Is this different from Eclair (2.1) Vanilla roms or is it the same, or is it just a function that HTC put in their Eclair+Sense roms?

Thanks, that's the thing I want to know, but by now I think it's a new "feature".. I'm afraid so. For me, it's a reason to keep Eclair.

Well then , why don't you flash a vanilla 2.1 ROM and give us the answer?
Actually, it works in Eclair Vanilla ROMs, so it's no sense feature.

Hi guys.
I did try searching but didn't find anything about this.
I miss having separate wallpapers for portrait and landscape like I had on my TP2.
Is it possible to do this on a G1, with 1.6, and no root?
(Please don't start the "why don't you root" stuff, at this point in time I will not get any benefit from it, I don't feel like changing all my settings again, and there seems to be no definite guide for UK DRC92.)
android has no built in feature that allows you to do this but there may be a home replacement app that will do this, not sure though

I was kind of hoping there was an app that'd allow this with the stock home, every home replacement I've tried has either been laggy, FC's a lot, or is just useless in general.
I am not aware of any such feature. It's not doable in the stock home screen or any home replacement I'm aware of.

Dual Wallpaper allows the user to select two different wallpapers to be set when the phone is either in Landscape or Portrait mode.
When the orientation changes, the application will automatically change the wallpaper.
For 2.x phones only
Does NOT require root.

Why would you get a desire and NOT a nexus one if you don't like sense?
Find Launcher.apk, Launcher2.apk or one of the launcher replacements in the market (ahome, openhome, home++) and install them to replace the sense homescreen.

You could try installing Launcher2.apk from Nexus One. Some people report it working fine on their phones. It didn't work for me though. Maybe I had the wrong APK.

Complete Android noob here please explain
In overly simplified terms, Sense UI is HTC's home screen, where as Launcher2 is Google's home screen for N1.
All programs on Android come in APK files. That's like a CAB installer on WinMo.
So all you need to do is search Nexus One forum for Launcher2.apk, download it on your phone and install it. Then when you press home button, it will ask you which home to launch. Choose Android home (or something similar) instead of Sense UI, but DON'T make it default just yet as it might not work.
If it does, next time you can make it default an voila - you have yourself a "Nexus One".
Though Sense UI will still be running, so you don't really save any memory or anything.
I have posted in this forum how to turn of Sense on the Desire. Search 'How to turn of HTC Sense' or something.
Since in that clip there was ACTUALLY a Desire being used, it should work. From what I remember:
Go to settings, all programs, search HTC Sense, turn it off.

i've just downloaded launcher2.apk and now just to finish this phone call then i'm gonna test this out will report back. i feel like a crash test dummy lol
You could also try to install the Helixlauncher2 app from the Nexus One forum. It's a modified Nexus One launcher2 with a lot more features. I already made a thread in the Desire Themes and Apps forum since I'm curious whether it works flawlessly or not on the Desire. Maybe you can crash test that launcher too?
ok default launcher 2 doesn't work gonna try the other one mentioned now

Hey there my phone is rooted and I'm running the new Fresh 1.0.1 Rom and I came from the Evo9 Rom running Froyo 2.2. One thing I liked about the froyo rom is that on one side it was to unlock and the other was to set the phone on vibrate instead of silent. Is there any way to change this now. I have Fresh running and I have flashed the Vanilla locks screen but currently one side is to unlock and the other is to silent and I really prever vibrate.
Thanks in advance.
I think someone asked about this yesterday too, but i would love to see this too. Instead of having to unlock & even just go to a widget, i could do it right from the lock screen.
well the froyo rom that's available does this so I wouldn't think it would be to hard
I think cyanogen mod supports this. I'm sure there is a way to port it over/hack it in.
Is there anyway to get the Vanilla Lock screen WITHOUT rooting?

Not really. There is an app in the market (I think called lockbot) that lets you use alternate lock screens, including some that look like Vanilla.
Since this can be done by this app, I imagine someone that really knew what they were doing could make the actual vanilla lock into something that could be installed over top of sense, but I don't think it has been done.
You may just want to check out lockbot for now,

I've searched up and down and installed a myriad of APK's. Every stock HTC IME (meaning arrow keys) force closes on CM6 for me. I use the stock arrow keys all the time (bash terminal, RDP) and "need" them on my keyboard. Has any one had any success at all install the stock keyboard on CM6?
I would like to have this too. Anyone???

should be HTC_IME_hi22.apk and Clicker_hi.apk (which i think is the settings or something)
i ran that file and then added this cyan color scheme on top of it
if you want the "lower keyboard" button you have to disable smiles in the settings
I still get force closes with any of these apk files. Anyone have better luck?
looking for this too, anyone with the stock HTC IME with the arrows, pls let us know! thanks
CM6 is non-sense. if you want sense, flash a sense rom
Flash one of the new DesireHD ports. You will no longer need the arrow, since it has that iPhone like feature where when you drag your finger through a text field, it magnifies your current spot.
Just a suggestion...not a good one though because you lose Camera, 4G and HDMI stuff...

I don't think it exists. At least, if it does, nobody is paying close enough attention to the question, because all of the IME mods I've been told to try lack the arrow keys. The closest thing was Swype, since it has arrow keys.

I don't think anyone here was asking for a sense rom. They were asking for a feature of a sense rom on cm6.
I'd love to see this too, what keeps the stock one from being ported over?
Is sense really that embedded in every little thing htc puts out?
It would be awesome if the arrows could be made to take up a little less space as well... this seems to be the only complaint I have heard about them anywhere.
Devs? Some of you have to appreciate the added benefit the arrows offer.
I take no credit for the ROM. If you want to check out a smooth AOSP ROM, this might fit the bill.

MMS is fine. I haven't tried GPS, but the compass displays backwards in Maps like CM7. Navigation should still work like it does in CM7.
Oh, and MMS works on wifi as well.
Tried it out..good stuff but I decided to go back to cm7.

The only serious issue I'm having with this ROM is the dialer. Usually when I type the first few letters of someone's name, it pops up. On this dialer, all I get is numbers. Am I missing a setting/option somewhere to change this?

I don' recall AOSP dialer ever doing that, but I could be wrong. To view contacts you just select the contacts tab. I know the Sense dialer does that.
I've been running this ROM for a couple days now, it's great. The only bug I've found is the normal reversed compass orientation, which is a bit annoying but doesn't effect driving navigation at all.
Other than that, everything else (MMS, etc) is working fine. For users wondering what it's like, think CM7 running LauncherPro instead of ADW, and you're pretty close.

Sounds to me like you're used to using the Sense dialer. I don't think the stock AOSP dialer does that.
I replaced the default dialer with "DialerOne", which is free on the market. Take a look if you like this ROM but want to maintain your Sense dialer functionality.
