sd card partitions - Desire General

Hi,
I wondered if there was any way to see the other partition I made with rommanager.
I did the following:
Ext Size:
512MB
Swap Size:
256MB
But I can't find anything about this on my phone.
It only says the total capacity is 3GB now instead of 4GB.
Is there also a way to undo this partition?
Thanks in advance!

you can undo the partition by setting ext2 and swap to 0

Internal Phone Storage -- Can we make it bigger?

We only get about roughly 40mb of phone storage for Android. Is there anyway I could expand the size? I know on my TP2 version I think we got like 100mb of space?

*Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe...*
The TP2 has 512 mb internal storage, kaiser (tilt) has 256.
The only way to get more storage is to use ext2 partitions on your sd card and install either system OR data to the partition and the other to nand. Depending on how big you make the partition will determine how much storage you have.
Sorry guys I am still a newbie at this. I see what ya' mean. Thanks for giving me some common sense.

/sys @NAND and /data on microSD (for nand installations) on one ext2 partition(no need for fat32).
So long as we have a ext2 partition on our SD cards, choosing /data on microSD will install applications on the SD card?
Or use apps2sd
how to use apps2sd plz?

[Q] About the ext3 partition size

Hello !
Is it possible to use an ext3 partition which size is greater than 512 MB ? Thanks by advance.
Yes, but you can't create a ext3 bigger than 512 MByte with the ROM-Manager. Use AmonRA Recovery or Linux (gparted) to create a ext3 partition at the end of the SD (FAT32, ext3).
yes you can.....i currently have 1gb...and believe me you won't need any more than that even in 2 years....
i recommend you to use the gparted for formatting the sdcard

Maybe he means the data img that is created while running from haret?
no.. im on NAND. i have EXT2 partition on my Sdcard and it has 1gb.. but in system i can see only 256mb.. why?
i don`t know why but i have the same problem and the bloody data.img is stored on the fat partition not on ext2 partition can somebody explains that?
Use bsg and change data.img size in the generated script.
i will try it.. thanks

[Q] Increase size of ext3 after it has been created.

Is there a way to programmatically increase the size of your ext3 after it has been created initially?
For instance, if your ext3 is 512mb with 0 swap, can you change that to 1024 mb with 64 swap without reformatting the sdcard?
nope, complete reformat necessary

[Q] ext4 What is it?!

I have been using a custom ROM for a while now and I have been seeing in the thread that many people are using ext4.
I have asked many times in the thread and recieved no reply.
So my question to you is what is "ext4" and what bennifit will it be to me as a Desire owner.
Thanks

EXT4 is a file format used by Linux (Android = Linux). When threads talk about EXT4, they are referring to creating an EXT4 partition on your SD-Card e.g. have 14GB FAT32 and 1GB EXT4 (from 16GB SD-Card.. 1GB is always non-existent)
What having an EXT4 partition enables you to do, is to have Apps/Data2EXT scripts which move apps to the EXT partition, giving you a lot more internal space.

Moving some of the app data to the sd-card is different to having an EXT partition and A2SD.
If you activate A2SD, the system will install and store your apps on the EXT partition, and your internal memory will not be filled up, and will remain at xxxMB. Furthermore, with an EXT partition you can use D2EXT, which makes your phone use the EXT partition as the data partition, so if you have 1GB EXT4, your phone will see 1GB memory.
If you use the inbuilt "move to sdcard" function, it only moves some of the sd-card to the android-secure folder on your sd-card, however your internal memory is still used up.
In addition, moving apps to sd-ext partition doesn't break app widgets like the stock app2sd method that Gingerbread use.

Reason: With A2SD / DATA2SD / etc. Android still "thinks and tells" the Apps are still installed in the internal memory (at least this tells me my logic).

That's how I see it as well. And makes apps available to use when you have it on usb transfer mode.
via xda app

MatDrOid, since you are also on MW. How do I make use of my ext4 partition I created?
I am guessing there is a way to just move to the ext4 via a app?

if it's MW based on oxygen, instructions on how to enable ext4 partition are in the first post, no need to use an app.
No it's the cm version using s2e and I think it's working lol

backup your sd card 1st
then use only 4ext recovery (requires s-off to change recovery) or gparted to create your partition (step 5 here)
sorry if i bump old post
