Everytime I try to shut down my HTC Desire it get stuck on the power off loading display, and obviously never powering off. I've tried to wait if something happens, but still after 1 hour it's still stuck.
I'm wondering if anyone else has the same problem or how to solve it?
my device(basicly standard)
-stock ROM
-unrooted
-2.1
Have tried the same a couple of times.. Also on a stock rom
I took out the battery to close and it have only happens once since
try connect your phone to your PC and in the terminal/ command prompt type "adb logcat" then turn off your phone
You might be able to see what is blocking.. Or must specify even more in here :>
it happened to me once but was temprory
try moving your hand over the optical track pad when you have clicked power off so it doesnt go to lock screen. and if it still doesnt power off hit the back button
also try avoiding killing apps using advanced task killer before switching of the htc desire

I have got a really strange problem with my desire. Here is what happened:
I opened the market app whilst using mobile internet. The app froze on the loading screen and the phone was unresponsive.
I pulled the battery and powered on again. All seemed fine.
I opened the market again and the exact same thing happened, only this time I can't turn the phone back on.
I have tried pulling the battery. Tried plugging the phone into a charger without the battery then reinserting the battery. Tried charging the battery until the led went green, still no luck.
I had plenty of battery when this happened.
When the phone is on charge, when you press the power button, the led goes out, but the phone does not turn on.
Does anyone know what this might be? or how I can turn my phone on again?

Bump, does anybody have any idea?
The only idea I have is a hard factory reset:
Try to start phone with pressed volume down and power button, navigate with volume button to "clear storage" and enter with power button.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I actually can't power on the device at all. Can't boot into recovery, can't do anything as far as I can tell.

What the hell are you doing to ur desire?
Try removing battery for a minute, then re insert it
Then press volume down and without release it, press also power button and wait 5 seconds with both pressed to see if it boots into bootloader and go into recovery too

I removed the charger before putting the battery in. I saw someone recommend it on another forum with a similar problem.
I have tried to get into recovery after leaving the battery out for 12 hours, after charging the phone until the led was green, it seems I've tried everything to get this to work but nothing.
I'm really annoyed as well because I'm 2 weeks out of warranty. It just seems so odd that a software crash could cause all this.
Anybody else got any ideas?
what happens when you press.. volume down and power.. can you see the hboot screen.. is your phone recognised in ur pc?

Absolutely nothing. Totally blank screen, no vibrate nothing. Phone is not recognised by pc. The only things that happen are the following:
When plugged into the charger the orange led comes on, and eventually turns green.
When plugged in, if I press the power button the led turns off, but nothing else happens.
I'm totally at a loss. I called HTC and am sending it in for warranty repair. They said they have extended the warranty to 2 years which is a bit of a turn up for the books, so hopefully they will fix it for free and not charge me for it
Try this:
Boot into hboot
Count (slowly) to 20
Then press the power button once
Connect the usb
Start command prompt
Type "fastboot devices"
For this to work you need to install Android SDK see here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK
If you get anything than somebody can help you. I read somewhere about this issue but I can't find it anymore.
device turned screen off and since then it dosent turn it on, all the command line (the 4 touch buttons) are vibrating while touching, phone rings when a call recieved but i cant do anything with it.
i want to sync my device to my PC to backup all my stuff but i cant choose the sync, what can I do?

Ok try turning off the device fully, pull the battery out and then put back in. Press volume down and power together for 5-10 seconds and tell us if the screen comes up. Also, did you drop it by any chance?

I don't know if anyone have seen this problem but anyway here it is:
A friend of mine gave me his ace 2 that have a totally broken software, this means the phone is not turning on, neither entering download or safe mode. When the phone is plugged into the power outlet there is no battery that appears on the screen. NOTHING at all. When I plug the phone into the PC and press the power on button, the phone does nothing but the PC make this beep sound (when a USB is inserted) and then directly after 2-3 second it makes another beep sound (when USB is removed) and take note that on those 2-3 seconds I did nothing, I just tried to turn the phone on and NOTHING happens. When I retry to press the power button again I can also hear the beeps sounds but still nothing on the screen. I tried to press it for the 3rd time, the same thing happened. Tried to enter download mode, it the same, beep sound then nothing.
When I tried to ask him what have he done he told me that something appeared on the screen (wipe, reset, something similar) and he just clicked yes and ok for everything.
I guess the problem is either that the battery is down and it needs to be changed, or that he completely reset the flash memory of the phone.
Any solution guys? Please help and thanks.

If it is not working still, then, sorry to say, I think the phone is hard bricked..
The model of my phone is SGH-T999. It is not rooted (I'm going to root it soon though), its running Android 4.3 and I do admit I've dropped it a few times but it has a cover. It shuts off at the most random moment and restarts itself, and sometimes it won't go past the Galaxy SIII logo before restarting itself once more. Theres a possibility the lock button has something to do because when it stays in that startup loop I play around with the lock button till it finally finishes the startup succesfully, but I don't know how the lock button can make it shut down on its own while its turned on without me touching the "power off" option in the window that comes up.
Let's assume for a minute that the Power Button is not the culprit of the reboot. Its certainly possible that the button causes reboots during Boot. Several people have discovered, this button can get stuck.
So given that, let examine your Reboot. You may have to try a factory reset to see if that helps. Typically if there are a lot of background apps running, the phone may get warm and reboot.
Speaking of temperature, you may want to use some Battery Temp monitor like TempMonitor. Stock firmware tends to have low tolerance for temperature and may force Reboot.
Holdin the power button will force a hard reset btw. So if itz sticking that'll do it.

Well a few days ago, like 2 weeks ago, I thougt I lost my SW3 (I use it w / o leash because it broke and there's no replacement for the stainless steel one) but actually it was lost on my travel bag xD
After plug in again it started to charge, but when I tried to turn on (after reach 100%), after the sony and SW3 logo, it turns off, like it has a problem at boot. I tried to repair via Xperia Companion and the process was succesful, but the watch just gets stuck on the same SW3 logo.
Now I think is the battery, but I'm really hoping is not, there are any suggestion guys about what could be happening?

If So I have the same problem, I have tried a factory reset, updating the rom via push commands etc I have brought a new SWR50 thats working with ADB debugging enabled this time (Didn't do it on the last one) my question hopefully will help the OP as well can I take a complete clone/rom backup from the working watch then push that to the broken watch (Bare in mind no debugging enabled on the broken one) Also to the OP have you held down the power button to get to the fastboot menu and factory reset/recovery settings? if not then you turn off the watch, press and hold the power button until the "insert usb now" shows, you then press the power button quickly twice to access the recovery menus

thanks dude!, A couple times it reached the spinning dots, but not always, sometimes it turned off on the SW3 logo before the dots appear, and actually I tried all those things you mentioned, but it didn't work, also I think my watch is (even more) screwed now xD...
Trying to do a second repair on Xperia Companion, the watch got turned off in mid repair, lending obviously on an error, and also losing the ability of do offline charge so once the battery reach 0, is over...
now when I plug in just stays on the SW3 logo, I still can go to connect USB screen and go to the two clicks menu (and stays on), but every time I try a repair, in the middle of the process disconnects and turns off, I don't know exactly why only when is plugged on the repair process it turns off, even pluged in the PC w/o repair stays connected all the time... bad thing is I don't know if is charging or not, so could stop working anytime

every day I'm more convinced the watch is screwed
If I turn on the watch stays on the SW3 logo all the time (it seems offline charge works after all), I even can go to the "insert USB" screen and stays on all the time, but when I try to push something to the watch, always disconnects, turns off and the process obvioulsy gets interrumpted, I'm losing my hopes xD
I'm using the original charging wire, but tried with other working ones
my sister bought me this smart watch , it came on long enough to program a few this after I charge it and then 10 minutes later it shut off and now it won't come back on or power up , what should I do ?
I have a weird problem with my sw3. When I plugin my watch to a charger nothing shows up but the watch gets heated up. But when I connect it to PC it just keeps turning on and off. Tried various methods available on this site but none of them worked.
