I was just wondering if someone could explain to me why its not possible for the devs to get video recording working on the Froyo ROMS.
I understand its something to do with the Radio, so is it impossible for this issue to be resolved until HTC issue an updated Radio when they get round to issuing the 2.2 Official update?
If someone could explain this I would be most grateful.
Tnx a mil,
Inq
Yes, it is related to the radio and until an updated radio is available it won't work
the devs can get video recorder working, you just need to use a 2.2 rom that has it working (as of a week or so ago).

Would anyone be willing to compile a patch for the Stock (3.26.651.6 OTA) 2.2 ROM in order to fix the known issue with AAC+ audio streaming in Froyo?
Google has provided the source for the fix here.
Cyanogen 6 has apparently implemented the fix already but that, unfortunately, is of little use to those of us utilizing the stock ROM.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Bumping this because I would like to see a patch made as well.

Heya all,
Have just installed the HDR GB ROM which is based on the Leedroid version of the leaked GB Asia ROM, and all is working smooth and fine apart from one thing - When I record on 720p with the camcorder, the playback is out of sync (sound/video), and it has many glitches..
Could this be because of the radio? I installed the one recommended in the thread.. What other reason could it be?
Thanks
The leaked Asia version probably is the problem. Wouldn't be the radio.
same problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043411
no solution yet. if it's not some bad app code then i don't know, maybe hardware...?
Hi, everybody. Got an unusual question today:
Last wednesday I updated my Defy to Barebones v1.5 (did my SBF backup, don't worry) right from stock Eclair. I'm having ABSOLUTELY no issues with it, but today Motorola released the official Froyo here in Brazil.
Even though I trust my phone's life completely to XDA, I feel safer using an official firmware (if no additional features in custom ROMs tease me).
I can easily downgrade to 2.1 and update to the official ROM, but I have a specific need: 720p recording. With this mod I'm currently able to do so in Barebones, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do so in the official firmware. As shown in the mod's thread, they currently support 3.4.2-117, 3.4.2-145 and 3.4.2-155 build versions.
So, my question is: is there any way I can find out the official firmware's version? If I won't be able to record in 720p (which is a indispensable feature for me, as a future vlogger), I won't update. The update comes as an executable (so I can't look into the ROM's files), so a database of official firmwares would be better.
Thanks in advance,
Gabriel
Bump. Nobody?
I'm about to use RCMix HD and hopefully stick with it, I have no idea which radio to get though and I can't post in the thread itself yet, hopefully someone can give me an idea of what radio to get, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thankyou.
Hello,
I was under the impression that the RCmix 6.0.0.1 would come with the latest radio and matched RIL from the latest release that it is based off. I am new to ROMing so dont take my word for it though.
Please post back your results.
I've been using;
Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_test
RIL_12.35d.60.140f_26.08.03.07_M
its been the best that ive used so far (used it with RCMix HD v6 and with Android Revolution HD 5.1).

I think the RIL is included, i didnt think the radio was....then again i'm new to this whole thing as well!
I don't even know what an RIL is, haha, do I need one?
RIL stands for Radio Interface Layer. As i understand it the software that allows the rom to talk to the radio. I have also read that people have had successful results without updating the RIL. I havnt updated mine and it works fine.
The RIL is apparently only needed for sense ROMS (RCMix, CoreDroid, ARHD etc.). Non-sense roms (such as CM7) dont require a RIL.
As far as I know, a radio will still work without the matching RIL, but it just works better with the correct RIL
Not sure if a fix or workaround has been posted at all yet. I was wondering if there's a fix for the Custom Roms which run off the OTA's (such as MikG / Synergy which run 2.3.3) yet with the sideways video chat problem in Google Talk?
From what I know, this isn't a ROM based issue, but more of a "2.3.3 not being fully compatible" with Gtalks video chat feature.
Maybe there's some files from a 2.3.4+ Sense based ROM from a different phone which could be brought over to our 2.3.3 to fix it, or something along those lines?
