Ive been looking around on google, and it looks like the DSP chipset in the Rhodium is basically the same as the G1, so Im wondering if it is possible that we need to look at the G1's sound driver for the answer?
And I am also working on decompiling the wavedev.dll (not much progress tho), im looking at the hex of a sample file now because Im waiting to see if a chef can supply me with the file, and im hoping that I can find any kind of memory instructions in the hex (but probably not)

Hello everyone, i am looking for a description of what each cab file installs in the JASJAR extended rom...
i have been searching for a long time and have had no luck...
hi, i would like to join this request
i will also join in on this quest to find out what these cab files do..
I made a start on the t-mob one on another post, and I looked at each cab file name, searched for it here, searched on google, then tried to suss it out, then installed it and wrote down what it did to the device by annotating a copy of the config.txt file.
An amateur way of doing it maybe, but I got quite a lot of info on the cabs for the mDA Pro in this manner.
Best of luck and in the end we can probably come up with an uber Ext ROM and pick the best out of the lot of them.
yes i found it and read that. you annotated some of them as dont know. i would hazard a guess in saying that TMO could possibly be t-mobile related applications??? i have seen the o2 version and they have a similiar naimg system for their own customisation!! just guessing, as soon as i receive mine i can start playing!
Yeah I was drinking lots of the old Nelson at the time, and it just got more difficult as the beers went down...
I've decided to cook a rom. Cooking is such a silly word for it though (sorry but I mean really...)
Now here are my questions...
I've downloaded the 6.5 Kitchen that Josh has created. I'm a little fuddled (used to nsis and VB) so its a little odd thinking of things in a new way.
I want to get down in the dirt of the OS. I want to be able to change things at the very core, but there really is no guideline for 'what is what'. Its easy enough to include certain apps, and not others, but what about how windows functions? Where is the explanation of that?
Lets get this rom going. I'm sure its gonna be great. I'm used to creating large community based software projects (see http://www.mediaengine.org). I'm sure I can really get a good one going.
Please post with assistance on rom creation. I've googled and searched here, but I haven't found anything about what I want to learn.
You can change settings in the rgu files, pretty much the entire registry.
As for getting in and editing dll's and exe's, that's something I still need to learn.
Is it me, or do the threads associated with modding the taskbar get really confusing, really quickly?
Talk of sdkcerts, dlls, etc etc, threads getting edited and changed for good reason, but I'm just confused! I'm no numpty, I've been around pdas for years, but I find this impenetrable.
Any chance for a step by step from start to finish on what to do - or is it not that simple? I'd imagine it'd be sensible to point out the different gubbins that need to be tweaked for vga and qvga.
Thanks in advance, if someone would be so kind as to help me out.
Hi everyone,
First I use the Eu rom with the black theme, I hate the green highlight bar, I searched thru the registry to see if I can find the setting, but no luck. Is there a simple way to change this or not, dont care if I have to edit the registry.
Second something thats been crossing my mind for awhile now and its really a general question, but it came to mind after reading about compression tools being used on ROMs. Why does HTC have so many files for manila to work? Isnt there a way they can either condense the files or move them to a folder on the device so as not to clutter the directories and hence possibly speed up the phones? I know in the rom section they are working with standard compressions and dual compressions, but thats compressing the file, it still takes time to uncompress a file to read it. Why couldnt they make for example like a SQL db and store all the pages/files in there so that access to them I would think would be much quicker, which in turn I would presume make the phone and the manilia run faster and smoother.
you obviously have not cooked a rom before.
copying the files to a fat partition on the device (meaning another folder as you can do with manila 2d) will take more space and will still keep the files in the windows directory.
manila is bloated indeed. however, unless you are willing to edit the xmls for each page (and there are a lot of them) to reuse the same files, you will not be able to change the fact that it is bloated as hell.
you can find themes on line such as the dusk theme. pull some of the files you want to change the colors. pain in the @$$, but it is worth it if you know what you are doing.
unfortunately, there is no reg tweak to change the highlight colors. you ahve to change some of the gfx in the manila files them selves. Tmo has blue highlights. I have been working for about a week to desaturate them... and quite frankly I am thinking of giving up. too much work for an experiment.
S.V.I,
Ur right I never have cooked my own rom. And I wasnt referring to the cookers as to why, I was referring to HTC as to why they hadnt done something to reduce the bloat, and possibly make it more efficient in utilitizing space and speed as I said in my first post. And if its that of a pain to change the green highlight bar then I'll live with it.
I am wanting to run some java programs on my desire, what do i need to do this ??
i used myriad on my winmo device but cant seem to find anything suitable to run .jar files on my desire
I need this trick too... did anyone found any solutions?
There is a way to do this, I don't know how however.
Just thought I'd give this topic a bump for you, I'm sure the Hero version of Sense actually came with an app that ran Jar files
I need to know the answer to this also.
This all singing all dancing phone is missing some important features, J2ME support is one of them. Surely the web browser supports Java so there must be good apps out there?
Please help someone?
Android does not support J2ME. So all those dumbphones jar files are useless as they will not run on Android.
Yeah we know that.
But there must be and emulator that works.
I mean there's gameboys, super nintendos and I hear a PS1 is coming!!
So come on, someone must know of a half decent app.
lads take a look here http://www.osnews.com/story/23043/Myriad_Tool_Converts_Java_Apps_for_Android_Phones
ooh
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ivr80-Tra4
however they're not targetting end users
oh well time to get my dearstalker on
I am guessing since it converts them to Davlik that one would need Froyo to run the converted apps?
