Rom version: Press menu>settings>about phone>software
Bootloader: Switch the phone off, and hold the volume down button while pressing power. 2nd line down will say HBOOT then a number. it should be 0.75 or 0.80

Thank you . I found it

[Q] HTC Desire HD Unlock problem

I've just bought a HTC Desire HD locked to Orange. I insered an o2 Sim but upon boot i didn't get the unlock message box where i could enter a code (after spending £15 on one). So i read about flashing a custom rom and this should work.
I ran Easy Radio tool v2_2 doing the option for Radio S-OFF, Super-CIDE and SimUnlock but this didn't work. The post also said to run EasyS-OFF which i did as well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403
I then flashed Android REvolution HD 2.0.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
following his link for radio update and isntalling S-Off Bootloader.
The rom flashed fine but after booting back into phone and putting in my o2 sim I'm still getting "Limited service" on the lock screen.
Can anyone help me where I'm going wrong. The phone works fine if it has Orange Sim but won't accept anythign else.
Here is spec since using Android Revolution rom:

In bootloader screen at top you should have eng s-off then
For the radio s-off and simunlock that's needed to unlock your branding check under system info on bootloader see if says cid 11111 if so then maybe change your apn manually for the network you sNt to use if not maybe it would be a good idea to downgrade back to 1.32 and back to original state and start again check downgrade 1.72 to 1.32 in this forum and then check my guide on how to flash radio.img the links are there to unlock your phone before flashing anything

Old Radio
You have an older radio it appears, flash the recommended radio off the Android Revolution HD page, then write about the changes if any

Try flashing radio first using the guide it might fix it if not try starting from scratch you might be able to downgrade to a stock Rom which should wipe any branding out altogether

did the radio super cid go through this time ?
if so go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403 and do eng s-off
The guide says "Open Visionary and tap temproot, then attempt permroot now. Your device will reboot" which i did and phone rebooted.
When i did the end s-off it said pushing files to SD card and then syncing, then done. How will i know if it succeeded? Is there a way to check?

Flashing RUU Problem

Hi folks,
I have been struggling with flashing back my desire to a stock ROM. I want to start from scratch by flashing the stock RUU because I cant move from this stage to customize my phone.
Software information :
Android
2.2
Baseband ver.
32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version
2.6.32.15-g2633d94
Build number
2.33.161.2 CL284358 release keys
Softw. No
2.33.161.2
HBOOT 0.93.0001
S-ON
I've tried these RUUs to get it back:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed
RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_1.19.161.5_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126338_signed
but every time I get ERROR [140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
Is it necessary to go trough this guideline before flashing RUU? ---> [HOW-TO] downgrade HBOOT 0.92 to 0.80 again
Do I have Hboot 0.93 instead of 0.92?
Can somebody help me with this please?
Root your phone with unrevoked.
Because your phone is branded (2.33.161.2 is Vodafone if I'm not mistaken) you will need goldcard too if you want to flash unbranded 2.29.405.5 rom.
I tried to use unrevoked guideline but it says to go to HBOOT menu and there to the 'HBOOT USB', but this I don't have.
My HBOOT menu:
Fastboot
Recovery
Clear Storage
Simlock
"On EVO 4G, you will have to select HBOOT USB at that menu by pressing volume down four times, then power. Wait until the screen flashes through an “SD Checking” message before pressing buttons; otherwise, the phone will ignore keypresses."
Not relevent in our case...
Unfortunately it couldn't pass trough. unrevoked says "failed to get root. is your software too new?" - any hint please?
+ is the goldcard inevitable only for RUUs or also for flashing custom ROMs if I am branded?
You need to use unrEVOked 3.21 - but if you wanna debrand then just use a gold card to flash 2.29.405.5
if you want update, you can use goldcard,if you want downgrade, give me your email add, I can give you a software to do that
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App

Incorrect, you can root the phone with GingerBreak - after unlocking the bootloader. And unlocking the bootloader can be done with an XTC (Payg) Clip.
Your tutorial sucks a little bit. You can do it with RUU exe file (which are available as in our forum). No need to have img. So you just click "next", instead of renaming etc.
But thank you for your afford!
Didn't quite try the above method first time around. Created the Gold Card using Gold Card Helper on a spare 8Gb SD card.
Then I used the official European RUU and it spat out an Error [140]: Bootloader Error. HBOOT is 0.90.0000
Then decided to try using the above zip file and lo and behold it does actually work.
Does this mean we may be able to trick the phone into flashing a non HTC firmware onto the device even if we haven't S-Offed or flashed a custom Recovery?
I've tried to flash HTC_Europe_1.33.401.2 but Orange rom version is 1.36.73.3 (mine is FR, don't know if the same for UK), hboot detect the update but fails to load it :'(
Hi,

All day I try to find how to fix it I read all post with this 4 exclamation and brick or everything else but with no success !!!!

I tried with different RUU but without success! It is impossible to flash PB99IMG.zip because I can't go to bootloader menu or fastboot menu on the phone.

What I have to do ? If i missed some post with this problem sorry bit I can't fix it !
what ruu did u tried?
if u are unbranded u can try this (the latest froyo ruu)
that will work if ur phone is not branded
before 3 month it was branded ORANGE
I tried with this RUU = error [131]: customer id error. Before this problem my ROM version was 2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
"customer id error" mean u need the branded ruu from ur operator..
alternative u can run the ruu i linked with a goldcard in ur sdcard
otherwise if u have to sell, u can flash the "RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade" it should work (maybe the first time u run it, it didn't work because u have an s-off hboot?)
Thank you that was the problem

How to unlock hboot or S-OFF my branded WFS ?

Hi there !
I would like to S-OFF or unlock bootloader of my Orange FR branded WFS. HTCdevs method does note seem to work, ROM or bootloader is too wreid and not supported by official orange hboot updater from htcdevs. After some tricks (goldcard I guess), I succeed in installing "Europe hboot" from htcdevs, but it doesn't help in any way : fastboot oem command returns an error 1, command error . Hboot might be too old to know these commands.
By searching on XDA, I found a tool called temproot that allows me to root the phone until I reboot it.
my HBoot version is 0.90.0000 and radio 7.53.39.03M.
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL.
HTC drivers, andro SDK, Java, debuging mode,... are probably ok. I use Windows 7x64 and Linux Mint.
I think I said everything. If you want more details or explainations, I'll do my best to answer preciselly, even if I'm a noob .
Thanks !

The unlockable European HBOOT is version 1.08.0099, so I take this to mean that you successfully updated to a generic EU HBOOT (0.90.0000) which is not unlockable, but can be updated to 1.08.0099. Thus,

So you need to go back to htcdev and update your HBOOT to the unlockable one. When you do, HBOOT will show:

The unlockable European HBOOT is version 1.08.0099, so I take this to mean that you successfully updated to a generic EU HBOOT (0.90.0000) which is not unlockable, but can be updated to 1.08.0099. Thus,So you need to go back to htcdev and update your HBOOT to the unlockable one.

Thanks for (very) fast answer and making me realize that I successfuly downgraded my HBoot (that's what I was searching to do).
I believed that it should allow me to upgrade with unlockable HBoot too, but I forgot to say that when I try to update HBOOT the way htcdev tells using their HTC_EU-1.09.0099 / ORANGE_FR-1.09.0099 / Any 1.08.0099 HBoot, I get an error 191, my ROM is NOT up to date. I have no ROM update possible with my f****** provider custom ROM. Is it possible to change this ROM to the official HTC ROM (using my temp rooting and adb shell or I don't know what), so that I can get last updates, flash HBoot with HTC_EU-1.09.0099 and get custom ROM (such as CM7.2) ?
Or I am thinking wrong on the way it works (probably the case : I learned everything alone) ?
Edit : I believe that this would have worked, if the given link weren't dead.......... Uploading website are all closed. That's a shame.
Thank you,
KennyG9
Try this:
1. Run the RUU...exe for updating the HBOOT again but don't try to update. Instead, find the temporary folder it created to extract the files needed for the install. It will look something like C:\Users\[LoginName]\AppData\Local\Temp\{82B23FCD-D5D0-45CA-A3A2-5350D3926551}.
2. In one of the subfolders, find rom_02.zip from and copy it to another location on your hard drive. Rename it PG76IMG.zip. You can close the RUU wizard now.
3. Move PG76IMG.zip to the root folder of your Goldcard.
4. Boot the phone into HBOOT (turn it off, pull the battery for 5 sec. and replace it, hold down volume and press the power button). Once in HBOOT, the phone will find PG76IMG.zip and try to install it. Follow the directions on the screen.
5. Do a factory reset and reboot.

It worked finally . You're so beautiful !
For interested people, you can get rom_01.zip and rom_02.zip. It corresponds to PG7610000_Marvel_hboot_1.09.0099_0209_R.exe file. (Orange FR 2.14.73.1 PG7610000)
Thank you very very much.
Kenny

I forgot. Done .
software s-off????
After spending 3 days trying to upgrade my hboot so i could unlock my bootloader, i somehow ended up with s-off! here are the steps i followed.
1) try updates from htcdev - didnt work
2) made goldcard, tried updates - didnt work
3) gained temp root using adb and zergrush, worked
4) hex edited the rom version number - didnt work
5) placed rom_2 on sd card - worked, sort of, updated the radio, but not the bootloader, "cannot rollback hboot"
6) placed rom_1 on sd card -worked, updated the radio
7) went into hboot to try to flash rom_2 again, voila! s-off!!!!
dont ask me if this is a way to s-off devices without xtc clip, all i know is it is what has worked for me, so i thought i would share.

Lol, nice way to revive a dead thread.
Go to HTCDev.com, the "Unlock Bootloader section", and follow the instructions.
