awesome, thanks alot!

Would this be valid for the newer EVOs (Hardware 0004, hboot 2.10)? I flashed one of netarchy's kernels, but would like to have the stock on file, just in case.

Stock ROM w/ OC?

My friend has a slide but wants it to run faster. He doesn't want to lose Sense. What could I recommend for him to flash for a faster device but stock Sense?

All he need is to have root, you cannot make any changes to the phone without root.

Sorry I wasn't clear, yeah I know he needs root but he wants the standard Sense UI ROM but with possibly an OC'd kernal.
Not happening.... yet
So far as I know there is no way to oc the stock rom, rooted or not. Hopefully we'll be able to at some point. I think sense UI is an HTC thing so you may be hard pressed to find a custom rom with it, worth a shot though. Otherwise your friend is sol at the moment.

Tell your friend to update to CR's OTA rom, then he can OC like me to 806 if he wants. Hell he can keep it at 806 24/7 for all i care .
Ok thanks for the info guys. I'll let him know.

Check the dev forum. There is a kernel that can be OC'd.
Yeah, ran across that kernel before, there's 3 or 4 versions with different clocks. I think it's only for CyanogenMod or some other one. Maybe I'll try it with the stock rom, may end up with a paperweight though. But hey stranger things have happened

My phone is stock, rooted, and overclocked. 806/806 conservative, and 245/245 on lock screen. It can be done, and it is painless!

Still haven't got around to trying any of the kernels but it seems like I'll have to get the ball rolling now. Have you tried any of the other CM kernels with the stock rom?

Only use the ones that have "cm-espresso' in it. dont use it if it only has cm cause somethings may become broken....For example your led light(camera) might not function anymore...Those kernels with only cm are targeted to froyo roms based off the cm source.

Damagecontrol dconfig tool

I've been trying different roms out recently and have been getting horrible battery performance, the only rom I use that gives me decent battery life is damageless damagecontrol rom. However, the dev hasn't been active for weeks, for what reasons I don't know.....but the rom has something I really like called dconfig, its basically a tool that lets you ban some apps and use a battery profile. Basically I want to know is there a way for me to incorporate this tool into another rom or is it just specific to that rom. If I can't is there another program like it
should be in q&a i think
and i don't think it can be done easily
I figured it be impossible
Damagecontrol is online now, try posting in the DC thread.
Virus airbourne rc4 rom supports dconfig. Havnt tried it though

Use DConfig along with SetCPU with no issues on a ziggy kernel

Thanks, I'll give that a try....will any ziggy kernel do?
As long as its for the evo yes any one will do, but the 11-24 i believe it was gave me random reboots but i had good luck with the previous 11-14

I only use 11/13 - HERE. Stable, lots of speed and best battery life all wrapped in one. YMMV. VM Heap works best at 28 for me.

[Q] HELP! Problem flashing OC kernel

Hello,
I am running a permanently rooted G2 with the stock rom post the 11/03 update.
I'd like to keep my stock rom - but I want to flash a new over-clocking kernel in order to overclock the processor using SetCPU. When I attempted to flash the Pershoot Kernel for Froyo in ROM Manager, I ran into a boot loop after flashing, which I recovered from with clockworkmod.
Any advice as to how I can flash a working over-clocking kernel onto my stock rom? Did I do incorrectly use ROM Manager for flashing that kernel?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! You guys rock!
Thanks,
captainreynolds (Yes, from Firefly & Serenity )
*Bump*
Anyone? Really could use some help here. I tried using coolbho3's temporary flash (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813681), and it worked a few times, but now when I try and set it to 1420 Mhz, the phone freezes up.
He mentions that
If there's ever an OTA or if you flash a custom kernel, you'll need a recompiled version of the kernel module, and with different addresses. Any kernel dev can easily do this using the documentation below.

Please help! Thank you!
baconbits is probably the most popular overclocking kernel for stock roms.
give it a shot!
I'll try it out right now! Thanks for your help - also, I've read some of your help to others in other threads that has helped me - thanks for that too! haha
UPDATE:
Worked like a charm. No issues so far. Thanks for the help mate!

you bet just good lookin' out for my android bros.
Hey how's it going? I just perm rooted my g2 as well. I want to keep my stock rom like you and just over clock it. Thanks to your question and pmcqueen's answer I'll try baconbits's kernel too. What speeds are you getting? And any difference with battery life?
Thank you both!

rzm007,
I tried baconbits, but I ran into some flickering issues when I tried to turn off the screen - flickering issues so bad the screen wouldn't turn off.
So, I tried flashing Pershoot's latest kernel - and now I have no problems! And, I can overclock to 1.5 gHz. Awesome. The link to Pershoot's thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847672.
I had boot looping problems when I tried to flash Pershoot's Kernel using ROM Manager. I flashed it manually in ClockworkMod Recovery.
Happy with it so far - and Pershoot is continually refreshing it. Cool stuff.
ALSO. I love Android. And XDA. Bought the XDA app today: good investment.
captainreynolds,
Appreciate the update on your status and link! I haven't had any issues yet with bacon bits. I'm using cpu tuner off the market as well.
Let me know if pershoot continues to work out for you. Good luck!
I'm thinking about flashing a rom that's as close to stock 2.3 as possible too. Need to do some more reading first.
(yup, I'm really lovin' xda and the android community)

[Q] Extreme lag after closing YouTube on Leedroid

Hi,
I recently flashed my first rom (Leedroid 2.2.2) and when I open the youtube app that was installed,( i think it's the most recent youtube app because it's not the same as the stock one), I can watch movies smooth.
But when I press the back button to close it, the DHD becomes really laggy. Like 1 frame per 5 seconds...
Only solution so far is to reboot...
At this point I'm trying to find the process with OSMonitor, but it takes age to go down the list... Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Edit: it's youtube 2.1.6

version 2.3.32.29-Leedroid-Ace-V2.2.2 , which is weird because I thought it came with V2.2.8 like in your signature
I'm not sure if Lee updates the ROM with each new kernel release so it might be a good plan to download and flash v2.2.8 kernel separately. That should solve your YT problem

Ok thanks for your help
I already downloaded the kernel, but figuring out a way to flash it now
Edit: seems ok now: 2.6.32.33 V2.2.8
Is there a reason you have a different radio version? because i flashed the recommended radio 26.04.02.17_M2
Thanks for your help!

No probs, happy to help
I have a different radio as the recommended one didn't give me good battery life.
Everyone has different experience with radios though as it depends on a few different factors, such as location to nearest mast etc. So what works for one person may not work for the next. Stick with what you're using if you're happy with it but feel free to try different ones too, just so long as you're confident flashing them.

Well I have the rom only one day now, so can't say anything about the battery life yet I'll keep it in mind
Thanks!

[Q] Where can I find Heyitslou Kernel #9 download?

Searched through the forums and found the original post in development, however the megaupload link is broken. Wondering if it's still available anywhere. Thanks in advance.
He also included all of his kernels with his ROMs. They would install on the SD card and you could flash whatever you wanted. So if anybody has a zip of the ROM, they would have his kernels too.
I think I might (might!) have it...
edit--- I don't, I must have deleted it when I was making space on my hard drive. Sorry
Thanks
Thanks for checking. I am wanting it to run with Skyraider just because I love that rom and read it runs great with it.
If anyone else would have it, I'd really appreciate it.
Just checked my files for the Incredible and all I could find is #8. I'll keep looking for #9 though.
I heard #8 is good as well. Any way you could hook me up?
Here you go:
Lou's #8

Thank you!!!
could someone post up #7 and #9 for me? I'm still on stock rom and there arent very many that work for me, i tried the #8 posted here and it works except for the home/menu/back/search buttons do nothing. Wanna try the others and see if its any better, otherwise ill go back to stock.

I'm not surprised as I booted Chad's aosp gb kernel on froyo sense a while ago and it booted but broke the soft keys. I think the ROM was skyraider. Probably have to update kernel drivers to get 2.6.32 kernels to work on gb sense but I spent so much time on my gb sense kernel so there is no need.
