I have a Vodafone-supplied Desire. When trying to access mobile tv via http://yamgo.mobi/ or mobile radio via http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/listen.mp neither will work.
I though first of all it was because Vodafone blocks media streaming, so I took an o2 sim from my old Dream which I know can stream this stuff, and put it in my Desire. I have all the correct apn and everything, with data functions working, yet no streaming still. The media player just shows "Loading..." for ages, then a pop-up says "Cannot play video Unable to connect to server".
Have Vodafone crippled my Desire somehow with the ROM?
Is there anyone else who has a Voda Desire and has managed to get streaming working with a different networrk sim in it?
In fact does anyone have the standard HTC rom on their phone and have streaming working?
This is crucial to me, as I have less than 14 days to decide whether to keep my o2 sim or not.
My desire's locked to o2 and I couldnt stream from catchuptv or yamgo. But changing my apn settings has now made it work so maybe you could try and get some different vodafone apn settings.
Hope this helps you
Check the Voda forums. There seems to be some kind of blocking going on - some have suggested using their WAP settings rather than Internet APN settings to get it to work. Looks like just another way for Voda to curb your data usage

Could you share your APN settings please? I have an o2 sim that I'm hoping to get working, so I can dump Vodafone once and for all.
See post #129 on this thread:

Same thing, looks like it could well be a Vodafone Rom block !
This is doing my head in now. I've managed to get streaming working on the (Vodafone) Desire using an o2 sim, but no matter what I do, I can't also have MMS working as well.
I've tried using the same APN for data access and MMS but MMS doesn't work.
Using the APN where MMS works, data works except streaming media doesn't work. I've tried every possible combination, using one APN, or two APNs. Very confused!!
Now I can actually get streaming working I think that disproves my theory that the Vodafone ROM is to blame. It's just getting the correct APN is my problem.
I've contacted O2, and the APN settings they suggest allow data and MMS, but no streaming.
Anyone on o2 who has the correct APN settings to allow data/streaming/MMS all together, please speak up!

Hi guys,
I really hope you can help me here. I have an M2000 which I have unlocked and am running with a VF SIM. All good - calls and SMS working fine. WiFi works fine.
What DOESN'T work fine is connecting to the internet, running msn etc. I have searched multiple sites, changed my settings to what people seem to suggest, and it says that it is trying to connect to Vodafone Internet, GPRS, yet always have the following message display:-
Dialed: Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documenatation and try again

I am wanting to set-up Goodlink (through work) to receive emails, and if I cannot sort this out, then I'm stuck. I can only use msn or connect through grabbing onto a Wireless area through WiFiFoFum.
Could anyone please take a second to tell me what I need to do?
Do I just need to install something?
Have I got some Orange files hidden away somewhere causing it to get confused?
Please help - getting desperate.
Your account might not have access to the internet APN.
Call customer services and get the "intenet" added to your account.
Also try this...
After extensive serching through the forum and the Wiki i was stumped as to why WLM was failing to sync.
all i could find were people asking if anyone new what the problem was and a whole load of replies that suggested they serched for the answer. The problem being there isn't (as far as i can tell) an actual answer to this issue.
This was my issue.
I upgraded to the newest version of LVSW and i couldn't get WLM to sync, it kept on saying that there was a problem with the service or i have not got good enough reception. this was incorrect as could use IE without a problem.
Many people said that this was because the Beta had expired..which it of course had, so i tried all the new versions, stand alone that LVSW posted with his new ROM, Tried BE 2.0 with the built in version. all with the same result. NOTHING!!!
Now i have found the problem i had and i hope that it will help with others problems
I used to put in my GPRS settings manually, but i decided to download a .cab file with the T-Mobile UK settings. and this was the problem. it was adding a proxy to the connection.
To rectify the situation i deleted the connection and put it back manually with the Following Settings.
Connection Name : T-Mobile GPRS
Access Point: general.t-mobile.uk
User: user
Password: one2one
and nothing else. (these are the only setting T-mobile CS gave me)
I now have a working copy of the new Messenger (No contact duplication) on my Vario II.
I hope this rather long winded post will be of help to some of you on the forum.

Yes I found this also. I kept getting the Out of range error message.
However, it's fine to have a proxy on Orange UK and is actually required for the 3G connection. The problem I had was with Active Sync - it kept adding my corporate proxy server name to the GPRS settings. Removing them allowed WLM to connect first time!

Eh? Are you sure? Seems plenty of people on here using Orange without a proxy set....
Just wondering, as I had been having problems, but not now, and I do have a proxy set, but ONLY in the WAP connection, not Orange Internet connection. Hmmm....

There were problems with the first t-mob uk cab posted, but someone put up a fixed version later on that I use without issues. Look about half way through in the UK operator cabs thread.
T-mob apparently use a transparent proxy, so no settings required.
Hello,

My Network is O2 Germany.
I tried the to pre-installed APNs and also the APN settings i found on the internet:
APN: internet
other settings not set.
I tried to search in the forum and google... but no one seems to have such problem.
Can anybody help?

I have had issues with this in the US. I was able to solve this by getting the settings from the O2 website under Data. Make sure that the proxy and apn settings reflect the website info. If that fails, contact O2 and ask for the data connection settings to be emailed to you. They have a long drawn out set up process, so this may be where you're hitting the brick wall - so to speak.
I can't get wifi hotspot to work (Tmob UK). I don't think it's a block on their side - when I put the sim in my old Desire (CM7) it works fine. So it's something in the OneX. I'm rooted, but none of the thrid party apps like Barnacle work either.
Anyoen know what's up, I'm tearing my hair out!
had same problem after flashing roms, resolved it by going to apns settings and under menu resetting to default, give it a try
Go to wireless network settings, find the apn part, create a new apn with the exact same setting as the default one (one with the blue dot) BUT rename it to: 'Consumer Broadband' BOOM problem solved
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

If your rooted it could be down to the APN settings as i used to have to change it on me old devices for orange, HD2 and Desire bravo, but didnt have to change anything on me one x stock, type it into google along with tmobile and the right apn settings should be there if not ring your network provider and they will give you them over the phone, the apn was called something like consumer broadband on my desire.. hope this helps
Thanks All,
Changing the name worked a treat!
hi im trying cm9 alpha3 and it seems great juat one problem i can make calls send messages but no internet, it works fine on wireless but not on the mobile network.
any help??
im on virgin in the uk
many thanks
alex
same here...returned to GB because of this
You may have to manually enter your mobile network settings, go to virgin mobiles website and search for manual settings in support section.
I'm with T-Mobile UK and data works perfect.
Good luck to you, and if you sort it, report back how you solved the issue.
I have set correct APN settings and when I enable data, E appears above signal indicator but it is grey which means no internet access ( blue is internet access)
network settings most likely... im on 3UK and no network problems here....although i have found that a few location based apps dont work...
yes i got it working the apn setting were from t-mobile which virgin shares their signal, manually enterted virgins and hey presto it works thanks for the help

DO well...but be warned i have found that incoming calls are instantly diverted and some gps based apps dont load...
APN Error?
Whenever I enter APN settings and save it, nothing happens. Nothing pops up in the APN menu.
