hi im having some probs with my mms, i was wondering if anyone can offer any advice?
im on tmobile uk, if i send an mms to a tmobile number they get it straight away but if i sent one to another network they dont seem to get it obviously my mms settings must be ok or no1 would get my mms's yeah? so isit just network problems why other ppl arnt getting them? also in the default messaging client, what does the big red exclamation mark mean when sending mms's?
thanks
I've noticed similar issues when sending MMS to non Orange contacts (I'm on Orange).
I think the red explanation mark is some kind of delivery / read receipt failure,
but not 100% sure. I tend to get it all the time when I send MMS.

Im trying to send a picture, under 300k to someone else but keeps giving me an unable to send error with an envelope at the top with an exclamation point through it. I also seen something asking me if I wanted to stop the current connection to send.
Anyone running into this problem or know how to fix it?
In order to send/download MM messages, the current active connection may be closed (this may affect other applications in use) Do you want to continue?
Then it it asks me to either HIDE or Menu, with Yes or No in it.
Any help would be appreciated. Im getting MMS's from others, can send pics via email and upload to Facebook, its sending out is what the problem is
well i tried sending a picture message to my buddy who has att or sprint, i am verizon, i pressed send and walked away, came back turned the screen on and had a notification saying that it failed. however he still got the message. this is the only one i have tried, as i don't send pics a lot. so i take people aren't getting your pics even though it says they fail?
Thanks for replying. Im a TMOBILE customer and on one of the pages around here, lol, I found a thread where I had to go in and change the address in the MMS settings to where it was going. If you are a TMOBILE customer and have any problems, let me know, I can walk you through how to set it up without issue, plus the 6.5 has a quick uploader for Facebook, much easier than sending a picture or video as an email
Hi all,
Been loving the Desire so far but this evening I got an mms from a friend, presumably showing me his own new Desire, and while the messaging app shows an unread message waiting it doesn't seem to want to download it.
The picture messaging settings seem accurate in the network settings so I'm at a loss as to what's up. This is all via T-Mobile, as per the subject, and everything configured itself when I put the sim in.
Any ideas?
I'm on t-mobile and receive and send mms mostly okay but there have been occasions where my mms wouldn't send at all. tried a different picture and it worked. I've had problems with mms and t-mobile on my iPhone before I got my Desire so I think it's a problem with t-mobile not the Desire?

You need to enable mms for you account, they are not included in the contract and thus you need to activate them online or by contacting them if it doesn't activate when you receive or send an mms.
All good suggestions, thanks.
I checked my account online and it's set to allow picture messages. I also just sent a picture to a friend, which arrived fine. I did notice that it disconnected from the net both before and after sending, so I'm thinking it's using different settings to send them.
Under Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names it does actually show two connections. One called T-Mobile Internet and one called Picture Message.
They're both very similar, except the T-Mobile Internet has no username/password set and no MMS server details. Also the APN type is set to "default" and "mms" respectively. Wondering if I should try combining the two...
Fake Edit: I just asked the same friend to send me a message back and this time it worked. Guess I just need to keep trying every once in a while to see if it happens again.
T-Mobile accounts generally are enabled for MMS to begin with, but to finalise the settings and actually activate it, you have to SEND an MMS. This activates the service.
Once you have done that, you can then normally receive.
if you hadn't sent an MMS before this, that is probably why.
Yeah that could be it, too; although I'm sure I'd sent MMS messages on my Touch HD before (same SIM). Ah well, it seems to be working for now at least! Thanks again all.
If you're using Handcent for sms / mms, that might also cause your issues...
Hey guys,
Picked up a desire yesterday and its great, though I'm having some issues with sms. I notice I don't receive any texts until I send a text first, then I'll receive 2 or 3 texts, timestamped in the past, up to an hour ago!
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
edit: unrooted on o2
i get a similar problem, i know i should have received a text message but it doeant show up for hours.
unrooted on tmobile uk
Most likely when your phone is connected over GPRS the text don't come through till you disconnect, used to happen on my N95.
So if my phone is operating in GPRS mode, until it decides it doesn't need the internet anymore and disconnects, it won't retrieve texts... right. So any workarounds or fixes for this?
Prety much, after I use GPRS I just made a call and during or after the call my text came in.
Been getting this all day, are people really just dealing with this or is it only a few people that have this issue?
I am having another problem... on T-mobile, my phone won't download MMS messages. It will just say Download error, General Network Failure... After it expired (3days) , I was sent a link to the T-mobile website, where I am able to see it for 14 days.
Another problem that I am having, the phone is struggling sending long text messages... 4 or 5 normal lenght messages 500-600 characters... I am using the Text App provided with the phone.
I have a problem that I dont think is an actual problem I think its just how the phone works, and tbh its a bit rubbish.
If you dont have signal when you hit send (im my office at work I only get signal on a little square of the desk) the phone says "message not sent". Sometime when it gets signal it will send the message, but if it doesnt get signal quick enough it seems to just give up sending.... a bit lame really....
I'm going to post a message up with the T-mobile UK MMS settings so people in future can find it on search. Have a look in 5 mins.
JAmes.
I've got the same issue with my HTC Desire.
My operator is a Belgium one, namely Mobistar.
I've got the impression that when i open the sms box, i start seeing the messages. Don't know if it's the communication that goes wrong, or the 'throughput' in the phone (screen, alerting...).
After installing (and using of course) chompSMS, this problem is gone... yipppie...
I've tried a million different combos etc of APNS now and if I wasn't so annoyed I wouldn't make a new thread but to be honest...I'm just irritated
Buy a HTC Desire (T-Mobile UK contract).
Don't touch it (rooting wise), completely branded.
Go on my "My-Tmobile account" to find the mms settings etc for my Desire.
Type them in...MMS doesn't send or recieve
No matter what I do for some odd reason I cannot send or recieve MMS messages
I'm using the native messaging app...I just don't get it?
Could anyone shed some light on this? Maybe give me an exact APN, and exactly what it should look like etc so I'm not just being stupid and typing it in wrong?
Sorry for my ignorant writing, I'm just getting bored of this to be honest
Thank you
Hello, have been using the Revolution rom since I got my DHD but have been having major issues sending MMS messages. I just get a generic Service Failure error message after multiple attempts at sending.
I'm on T-Mobile UK / Orange
I have made sure that:
WIFI is off
GSM only
I am connected to T-Mobile rather than T-Mobile Orange
Still unable to send MMS messages, when I recieve them I get them sent to the web interface most Providers use. I have got picture messaging enabled on my T-Mobile phone plan.
Any ideas / help you guys can provide?
I am flashed to the latest Radio for Revolution and just flashed to the 3.5 rom aswell but still have the same issue.
Not a complete answer but the reason you cannot receive is because T-Mobile only allow you to receive AFTER you have sent a message.
Fix your sending issue and your receiving issue will solve itself.
Have you checked that your APN settings are correct? Also, why do you use GSM only? Having 3G on will make sending faster.
Fair enough to the first reply and I have triple checked that the APN settings are correct.
