Extra "Fun Frames" on my HTC S620

Does anybody know how you can add more frames to Camera on the HTC S620. Ive just come back from holiday and when I was using the Camera for a few "fun pix" I was greatly dissapointed in the lack of choice... basicaly it only had four week frames to choose from. So as soon as I got back I went about getting some more frames for my phone.... which I found, but my phone cant find them. Ive already tried adding a "Frames" folder to "My Documents" both on my phone and the storage card but yet the phone doesnt recognise any of the frames. Anybody else have this problem or even better can anyone else give me instruction on how to get it to work?
if anybody wants to know the Camera Software im using is the Camera for Smartphones version 4.52 that came pre installed with the phone as I dont want to be having more than one installed.

Just out of curiosity, what's a fun frame?
I knew the camera software on the Dash could do "effects" like sepia or negative. Never heard of the above.

I am in the same boat, what exactly is a "fun" frame just wondering?

oh, I assumed all the HTC S620's had all the same basic software I wasnt aware that Frames wernt available on all models.
What I mean by fun frames is like Magazine Covers which you select and take a picture with the frame on top of it.
The four that come with the BT ToGo version which I have is one which has two magazine covers on (you take two pictures and they get put into the frame), a cartoony spikey frame, one which looks like a notice board with two pictures on and finally a folding frame that holds three pictures...
the problem is that they are too specific like the memo on the notice board say "I love you" on one and "happy birthday" on the other... and the three way folding frame has love hearts on so it isnt like you can use them on any occasion.
...Picture Themes, thats what they are!!! Mabey I would have got more response if I posted under that.

Yea this is a ROM specific function. I remember having this on my T-Mobile SDA. You could have images pre drawn on the screen with a spot in the middle of the screen so yo could take a picture and use the template around the picture. For example: i had one that was a template of bubbles, snorkle and face mask, and if you got the picture aligned properly you could make it look liit the person you wrre taking a pic of was wearing the snorkel and mask and look like they were underwater. Kinda cool effect. I never noticed this feature on the DASH though.
edit: i just found the templates on WM 6.1 , but the four that are preloaded are pretty lame.

Aaaaahhhhh, never mind Ive found out how you do it...
the trouble was BT never provided me with a manual with the phone, its all done online in PDF format now. But after trawling through the PDF I eventually found out how to add extra frames -
Template Folder (Picture Theme only). By default, templates are
stored in the \My Documents\Templates folder on the device’s Main
Memory. If you transferred some templates to a storage card (via File
Explorer), set this option to Main + Card to specify that templates are
located in both the main memory and the storage card.

so thats where I was going wrong, I had read somewhere that the folder had to be called Frames... when that didnt work I renamed it Template when all along it should have been Templates.

Uh, I know it's not rocket science, but my upload keeps failing, I was trying to upload a few templates that I have for the DASH, Excalibur, etc.

Yeah I have found one or two good ones, I will try and post them sometime today
A couple of Wako Jacko's from BoSelecta (one just does the face while the other takes the face and background)
a Shrek and Fiona and a Wanted poster for now...
I think the frames from Sony Ericson phones should work (320x240) so im going to see if I can find them on my girlfriends phone and copy them onto my excalibur. The Sony Erricsons have some great fun frames and to be honest a really good camera built into their phones.

Does the frame need a special neme or extension?.
In Which folder need to be placed?

Brain Fart, smack me upside the head then help please...MMS size increase

I am pretty sure that I came across a reg tweak that increased the size of files that can be sent via MMS. I have searched the sticky "cabs, tips, tricks" thread, I have searched for "increase MMS size, MMS file increase, MMS tweaks (which I found various settings, but not for size increase)...
I have checked in the must have apps sticky.
I have even gone through the roms section hoping to stumble across it.
I AM HAVING A MASSIVE BRAIN FART. I am pretty certain that the file size can be increased. I simply cannot remember where I found that tweak.
Please help.
And while you are at it...does anyone have "cab auto install" (not cooked into a rom), and can I use it as a stand alone for when I do re-installs?

Did you already try THIS one? I thought the tmo ROMs already had it set by default to the largest size the network would allow, but it looks like you can still manually pump up the software-imposed limit with that regedit

Hey his Phunkee-ness, THAT was the key I was brainfarting over...sadly, it doesn't send anything more than 1000kb (not even a true MB of 1024kb)...I have some pics on my phone that are 1.5MB and was hoping that the tweak would REALLY increase the size.
Here's where I pout...and it isn't for your lack of trying. If you come across something that can increase the size to maybe 2MB...it isn't always true, but in this case, bigger is definitely better!!
Don't suppose you know about the cab auto install which is used on cooked roms...I'm hoping it can be used as a stand-alone for when I do multiple program adds, or I do re-flashes.
And yes, you may still smack me upside the head...this brain fart I'm sure is stinking up other things in my head and needs to be gone!

I'm glad we at least found the thing your brain knew was there somewhere. I'm afraid I don't know of any other way to get it up to 2MB...but doesn't tmo cap mms size at 1 or 1.5MB? If anybody knows the answer to that, please post...I think I remember reading that but haven't gone looking to confirm.
As for the cab auto install, I have no experience with it yet, but it is on my list of things I wanted to look into for when I start getting into ROMflipping

Here is a cab that should help you. Your Carrier may have a serverside limit imposed though, AT&T's is 600k, I'm not sure about other Carriers. If your carrier does have a limit set, even if your phone is set above it, your messages will not send, and you will get a "Too Large" error.

I will try that out, thank you. I am not sure if Tmo has a limit set, but it certainly worth giving it a shot on the odd chance that they don't!

TMOUS is limited to 1024kb on the server side for what you can send or receive, if you are sending to someone on another carrier then their limits will also apply.

MB limit sending photo via MMS

This is weird because with my Palm Pre (Sprint) I could send an MP3 or photo (2-4MB) to another phone via MMS with no problems. With the HTC EVO for some reason it doesn't send pictures or MP3's higher than a certain MB. Which means somewhere in the code the software limits the size of a MMS message.
I take a picture with my phone and try to send it to one of my contacts; it ends up putting it in a "slideshow" (CRAP quality) which reduces the size from 2-3MB to a few hundred KB's. It is very aggravating when this phone can take such high quality pictures and I am unable to share them with my friends.
So I am hoping that someone else (whom can do something about it) is POed with this and can attempt to find the root of this issue and develop a fix PLEASE!
I understand Sprint probably wants to limit bandwidth usage, but for me, I take a lot of pictures and like to share them with my friends. You may ask, why not use Facebook or an other image sharing site..... problem is they limit the size and/or resolution of the photos too!

It is in the User Agent profile but I have not figured out how to change it. This was brought up twice in the Evo thread but no answers.

I apologize, didn't do my research on other topics. Hopefully someone can figure this out. I'm sure its a matter of changing a 0 to a 1 LOL!

its a standard size so all carriers can get mms.. if u increase the size lets say att wont get the mms ..or t mobile.. i tried that already on my HD2

Well most will receive 300kb but it auto resizes to like 16kb. It wouldnt be that bad if we could get at least 300kb.

Is it possible to change the limit so we are able to send like a mp3 5mb file at least

If you pull the mms apk and look at the xml you can find the max mms values. I worked on this for a while but gave up when Handcent started sending files more toward my liking.
I have found there are some carriers and even types of phones that flat can not receive pics from my Evo.

Stock Droid Incredible Calculator question

Hey guys I noticed this this morning while doing a calculation. I am using the stock calculator that came with my Droid Incredible. I've not done any rooting or anything like that. When I enter 365.2 - 358.8 I get the total of 6.3999999999 instead of 6.4 like I should.
Is anyone else getting such calculations?
I've not been able to reproduce this using any other combination of numbers, although occasionally it will produce a something like this: instead of saying 3.4 it will say 3.4000000000. It doesn't do it to every value, but occasionally.
Any thoughts?

Wow, that is just FREAKY!! Same thing on mine! Guess I shouldnt use it for math class huh!

It just has something to do with how computers calculate math. Almost all computers will have problems with some calculations, for example, if you go to Google.com and type in something like 1-.9999999 or 999999999999999-999999999999998 it will give you a wrong answer. But yeah, lol, I wouldn't use this phone on tests or homework unless you don't have anything else around.

Well for what it's worth, 6.3999999~ is the same thing as 6.4

That is true about the rounding. I was actually heavily tempted to remove the stock calculator if I found find a better version on the Market.
Oh, and just for comparison sake, the stock calculator on the Moto Droid displays it correctly as 6.4

RealCalc Scientific Calculator in the Market works great.. and it gives you that 6.4 you are looking for..

On a serious note, I use handy calc, it's really nice and can graph functions too

The stock calc apparently has no way to save to memory... Kind of weird even for a very basic calculator.
If it does via some weird keystroke, I have never figured it out.

Try doing a trig function on the calculator...
Its USELESS.
Well, if you've memorized radian conversions, you can possible use it, but, its like needing an abacus to use a calculator...not worth it.
Why they didn't set it to use DEGREES for angles is beyond me...and there doesn't appear to be an option of switching it either.
Any of you geniuses figure out a way to make it work, ....
...or is the phone's calculator just a fake feature, and I should just down load one that works?

That's tooooo funny. Makes you wonder if a simple calculator program can't do that math correctly, what else is going on behind the scenes.
Could this be a clue to the mysterious battery drainage problem under Android?

[Q] Change deault incoming call picture.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but I can not find, for this I am sorry. I am running Fresh V3.2, and although his default incoming call screen is better than stock, I still would prefer one of my choosing. Can someone guide me in the right direction on how to this? To be clear, what I want to do is change the picture that pops up and stays on during the call with the number on an incoming call. Obviously this is only for people who are not in my contacts as I can assign any picture I want to a contact. Much love to the anyone who can steer me the right way. Again I'm sure this has been covered but have spent two days now, and can not find it. Even used the search button!

That's a good idea, is love to change that picture to something nicer. I can't look now, but I'll dig into a Rom or two when I get home, if some else doesn't first.

I did do a little searching in some roms, but I'm not sure if it's just a png/jpeg, or if there is more to it. Appreciate your help.

k, looks like the default contact photo for the in call screen is in the Phone.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\phone_default.png Well, in Vaelpak anyway, but I'm relatively certain all the current stock based roms use the same. Now what to replace it with. Do you have something in mind? If you can post up the pic or graphic you want, I can put it in the apk for ya.
Next will be to find the default contact picture for the Contacts and Dialer, that blank faced icon is bothering me now.

Ha, as I expected that is something I would never have found. Now that I know what I'm looking for I should be able to make it work with a little more research. And actually the picture I have in mind is a picture of a '67 Shelby GT 500 (Eleanor), but it's a particular pic of that car. I will have to find it again, after work I will get looking for it, and post it. You've answered my question though, thankya much. And if you do end up changing the default pic let me know how it works out for you, I'll do the same if I get it going tonight. Thanks again.

After finding that file on fresh 3.2, I open it and it shows the stock android pic, but on this rom that isn't the picture that shows up on the caller id, leading me to believe that there is more to this job, and beginning to think we need some more help because now I'm lost...
