I've just bought my Desire and of course i cant wait to break free..
Is there potential battery performance issues if I dont charge the battery 100% when i root and flash? When playing with HTC Magic, U got serious battery drain when flashing/wiping (battery stats) if it wasnt 100% charged
I charged it fully once.
Nah. Go for it (with at least 60% battery) if you've already done a full charge/discharge cycle.

Well lets say my battery is 35% when i get home, it takes about 45 mins to get to 95% then from there takes about 2 hours to get to 100%. Running CM7 on the Telus DHD.
I dont know if this happened with stock as i rooted as soon as i opened it
Try downloading CurrentWidget and then charge your phone until there are zero milliamperes showing on the widget. Then wipe your battery stats and reboot. This should calibrate the readings to be a bit more sensible/accurate, for both usage and charging.
As the battery is charging and nearing full capacity the current slows down thus making the charging process slower.

It's not iOS, Android or WP7 - all Li-Ion batteries have to be charged that way. Just one of these OSes preffers not to give accurate information to its users about baterry charge, signal strenght etc. What you don't know can't hurt you seems to be Apple's moto. Still 2 hours for 95% to 100% is too much.

About 2.5 hours is what I'd expect it to take to charge from 35%
k well today i got home and the batt was 35% (heavy usage) and it only took about 45 mins to get to 90%. From there it goes much slower.
Going to CM7 I had the same problem with my battery being at 95%. I'm planning to drain completely, wipe battery stats immediately, then doing a full charge.
mine only takes just under 2hrs charging from empty to 100%.
It depends if you're charging it through your computer or the wall. If i charge mine through the computer it takes about 3 hours if the battery is completely empty. If i charge it through the wall, it uses about half the time, but the battery empties much faster. Some phones has so called "speed charging". That means that you can choose between good battery life but long chargr, or short charge time but bad battery life. It depends on how you charge it.
But, two hours from 95% is not normal.

This might be a clue to the cause of the problem. I'm now running stock ROM and being in the process of deciding if I should go for Revolution HD or stay on stock, I read numerous posts of battery stats problems. I think the OP should try to wipe the battery stats and see if that would help.
I bought a new battery today, a Chinese knock-off battery which claims to have a capacity over 2000. I live in Mongolia, so that's basically my only option if I want a replacement battery, since there's basically no postal system here.
When I first put in the battery, it showed a 59% charge. After a few minutes and maybe a reboot, it showed a 20% charge. It consistently drained down to zero, and I'm charging it now.
I've experienced really strange battery drain with the former battery (also a Chinese knock-off) where it loses maybe 10 percent an hour on idle, so I figured the battery needs to be replaced. Is there anything I can do to calibrate it? I have a feeling that the charge is actually more than is being shown, but no way to confirm my suspicions. Am I right just to try to charge it to 100% and discharge it to 0% until the battery life gets better, or is there something else to do? I should mention I've tried resetting the battery stats in CWM with no real effect.
Thanks from Mongolia.
Go into recovery when battery is at 100% and go to advanced then clear battery stats or download battery config for rooted devices and clear battery stats that way.

Clearing battery stats achieves nothing other than deleting the stats on the what has been using battery power. Battery calibration isn't required on our phones.

if you want to increase battery life for your new battery, charge it fully to 100% whenever you charge it will increase charge storing capacity of the battery

Never, ever I repeat never let your battery drop below around 5%, and always charge it before it reaches zero. I use the Guage Battery widget v3 pro as it is very accurate, but you can also get the free version. You can & should use the free battery calibration tool from the Google play store, simply install it & charge the battery to 100% then run the calibration App. simples

i heard something about battery training
maybe it helps for the battery on the htc one x
charge youre battery for 8 hours whit youre phone on
then turn of youre phone off and charge it again for 1 hour
turn youre phone on for 5 minutes then turn it off again and another charge for 1 hour
anybody know if this works?
There was something similar announced from HTC for the desires. However it really screwed with the battery stats and was only detectable when running custom roms and the UOT battery percentage mods. Mine used to shut down at 20% sometimes, other times it would make 10% which was frustrating. A LOT of people had issues. Left alone on my sensation and that was fine. I would avoid imo.
Want to get the most out of your battery fully charge it with the phone off and fully discharge i a few times when new and the once a month/fortnight after to help it.
ok im going to try that one to thx
A full discharge is bad for Li-Po batteries, but it might be good for Android battery calibration. I would not fully discharge the battery on a regular basis, it will damage the cells.
Hi bought HTC One X(international) a week ago,and have a question about the battery calibration, when I unpacked the phone it had battery on around 50% then I used it until first battery low on power notice,I think it's about 15% battery I don't remember, then I let it fully charged, and my phone goes for about a little less than 2 days on standby with 15min calls, some music, games a little, but mobile data is always off so is wifi,i only turn them on when I actually need the internet connection, for web browsing, now my question is, is my battery properly calibrated, because I have read that you have to fully charge the battery before first use(that I didn't do,but when I put it on charger I didn't disconnect it until full charge),so that system could record battery capacity, otherwise it will record incorrect battery capacity, and battery will last shorter than it has to last,I supose it will record incorrectly, battery full notice, and will notice that battery is full to early thus resulting in shorter battery life, now knowing my use of the phone, can it last longer, and do I need to re calibrate the battery?
There is no such thing as battery calibration. Your battery will be fine, nothing needs doing.
hi,
Does draining your battery life until its off before charging a good way?
I remember when I bought this phone the sales rep told me to never ever drain the batt and make sure to charge it when 20% or less.

Maybe once a month. But remember, it;s good to always charge your phone, even if you charge it half an hour, one hour, or fully charged. This way you keep the battery alive.
From what i read, you should usually avoid draining it full or charging it full. But once in a while do so for some calibration purpose.
thanks!
Hi!
The best way ( if you can ) is to power-off your device and than connect to the charger ! - assuming you have less of 10% .
Also is recommended for a battery long life, fully discharge the battery every two or three months !
On the other hand it is not wrong to charge the phone when you think , no matter how the battery indicator shows ! - this type of battery should not be formatted on beginning, cause is not a Ni-Mh or Ni-Cd type !

20%-80% is best fir li-ion/ li+-pol batterys. But I dont do that coz as it is the battrry does not last. I rather charge to 100% and replace battery along the line.
b.t.w. if the battery shows 0%, the battery is far from dead. just the internal circuit cutting the power off
thank you guys!
