Hello. I need to return my evo back to factory condition. How do I do this? I see there's a ruu file in the toast method but it's an exe file and I'm on a mac. Can I just flash a stock from from somewhere and do a wipe and that's it? Will the people at the store be able to tell I rooted it?

Swyped from Eva running Myn's RLS4!
I know that this was originally posted over a year ago, but does this still work? While on vacation my ear piece started to get really fuzzy and now the only way for me to talk to anyone is to turn on my speaker phone. Sprint is telling me to bring it back in, but I need to unroot my phone before I bring it in.

I have to send my evo back to sprint for a blown external speaker but I want to make sure they can not tell I ever rooted my phone how can I get it back to exactly how it came to me from sprint? I know you are all going to ask why I want to put it back there... I just do. I will do the updates I want to do after it is back to exactly as I got it from sprint. Thanks for any help!!!

do the official update. that will make it stock, and unrootable.
yep official updatew ill get it back as clsoe as it can be however, there is currently no way to change your PRI back so it wont be 100% exactly like you got it from them. nothing you can currently do will change this though i believe there is a post on how to modify it to SAY it is 1.4 (though obviously it is not 1.4) if you are really worried about it you may try finding that post.
I have tried everything even doing a recovery on my evo it still says 2.2 but not the current version. I have been checking all day everyday for the real 2.2 but it always says no updates. I just want to make sure when I send it back they are not going to void my warranty or not cover it under insurance.
I know i will get trashed for this post. but i am just not sure and do not want to brick my phone
i recently had speaker problems with my evo and dirt under my screen. So i need to return my phone and get a new one.
how can i get rid of nandroid and flash the ota froyo rom and have it back to stock.
do i run this

If your going through HTC directly just return your phone as is. They don't really care about the software if the replacement is due to a hardware issue. I'm not sure if sprint will be as finicky but my guess is they will be about the same.
What I've done is go to a sprint repair center. They tend to be fairly intelligent and generally swap right there.
Why would you get trashed for asking a question like that? The only reason I could see would be that it should be under the Q&A section, but if you think you'd get trashed because you asked a question about unrooting, I would like to know who's been giving this community a bad name. Not that I could do anything about it, but I like to think that we're pretty friendly here.

Ageed. Theres nothing wrong with unrooting especially if you are trying to get a replacement.

Hi, I am unable to hookup to my laptop due to usb port loose/faulty connection. I will be taking phone back to BestBuy to either fix or replace. Well- would like to anyways. So how would I do this if I cannot run the ruu or HTC sync? Could I just put the step 2 pcimg. On my sdcard and flash that? I was unable to get my pri to update so I have flashed the zip file that just changes the numbers to be correct.
Thanks for any help.

I need to take my incredible in to verizon because of a blown speaker. I restored it back to factory software, and it took on the Froyo 2.2 update. However, I still have S-off. How do I turn this back on? I have the Son tool, but I need a custom recovery to flash it. OR is this not going to be noticed?

Kind of busy, so I can't walk you through anything, but these two threads look promising. Be sure to read through them, though. Minimizes mistakes.
How To: Get back to stock 2.1, stock recovery and S-ON for an RMA
The ultimate "get back to stock" thread.
ODD my Inc speaker just crapped the bed yesterday....so I am interested in your question.
Although I bought my Inc outright from another VZW user so I am sure VZW won't help other than maybe helping me file claim with Assurion.
Is the speaker a common problem?
I have an evo 4g that was flashed to metro pcs. Is there anyway i can get it back to sprint so i can sell it? I'm getting a thunderbolt this week
Going off pure logic...but cancel metro service, and then take it to sprint and say you need it flashed back?

should i unroot it? and put the stock rom on it and how should i do that?
Disclaimer: I'm very new to rooting, androids, etc., but I've been doing similar things to computers for a long time.
My guess is that you should unroot it. The only thing I've seen mentioned to do that is RUU. That might do everything for you. It might depend on how you rooted your phone. You might have to update your radio to get it working on Sprint again if RUU doesn't do that for you.

Download, boot phone into fastboot, connect to PC, run RUU exe. Also use the 3.70 version.

depends on what he's wanting to do..if he's rooted trying to go stock or keep froyo with root, also, if he's stock GB and wants to go back to froyo, won't happen, hBoot versions different and will pop up with a message saying the update is too new or something like that.
so a little info on his part will help us out by helping him out!

Sorry, just so frustrated getting out of the latest. 2.3.3 / 4.24.651.1 was a new device and came preinstalled and updated. Been trying again today unsuccessfully, I feel so out of place with the only one in here unrooted?? LOL
Anyhows was really looking into on just delparting it(networkingskills) starting to take over my thoughts. Hell with it, delpart it n ,get dos boot disk made from win2000 to recreate Rom from cmd prompts?
Is there such a wipe? Mean just wipe all clean without it going back to recovery to reboot from?

Whats the good news? They dont mention the EVO4G in there, and they wont unlock it either. Its almost to its EOL, they want us to buy new phones so why unlock it?
My 2¢
if you have another sprint phone.....
Call sprint, swap esn to other phone.
Sell yours on craigslist.
Buy another one on craigslist that's rooted (call and swap esn to phone to make sure it works)
Go home, install whatever you want.
