Hey
As with most desires, the free space just seems to fill up for no reason. After a flash and reinstalling all my apps, i have about 70mb. After about it week its gone down to 30mb, so im just wondering what would happen if i clear the devlik cache? Would this mean i have to reinstall all my apps/settings again?

If you went and wiped cache only, not data, and installed a new rom, would all data remain? What exactly is this cache that nandroid wipes?
I'd like to install a rom for a friend but dont want to completley wipe his phone. I just want to install the virtuous rom, which is basically the stock 2.2 update rom and would like to keep all his data on the phone. would just wiping the cache work? I know some people just install without wiping but would wiping cache help?
And I know a wipe is always better, thats what I do on my phone. But its not mine and would like to save his data.
So I have a question , I'm currently on 110722 Nightly Jordan, and I'm planning on going to the newest 110729 Nightly Jordan.
Now, what are the steps that should I take?
should I upgrade to either the BOOT 179-4 / BOOTSEA first? or I could just flash to 110729?
thanks for your help
just flash 110729 Nightly as u flash normally..no special steps required..
one more question, to upgrade, we firstly need to wipe data, wipe cache and wip dalvik cache right?
can anyone tell me what does this three steps do? (as in wiping data, you're deleting something, .........)
thanks
do not wipe anything..u can wipe cache but never wipe data..wiping data will result in deleting everything u have ever installed in ur phone..like apps and all..and wiping cache is also not required..but it is ok if u wipe cache..
oh thank you arpith
so if I don't need to wipe data, then I don't need to use titanium backup right? as none of the apps are deleted
yep..no need of titanium backup..it will be as it is..only system files will be updated..
Can you tell us if you haver wifi problem with the new nighty ?
I went back to the latest SEA because of that
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
my wi-fi is working great actually, no loss at speed or sudden DCs.
the one thing that I'm worried is my camera.
somehow, the images that it produce are really bad, it doesn't force closes, but the quality of image is very poor (already on max settings) , both on photos and videos.
any solutions?
I'm using CM7.2 with Link2SD. Everything was working fine for a long time, until just now... I wiped Dalvik cache, and the phone got into bootloop after restart... How is this even possible? Then wiped cache partition, still nothing. I don't want to factory reset... Is there a simple way to bring it to life?

Need a few more details:
- What were your trying to do? Why did you wipe dalvik in the first place?
- How did you partition your sd card?
- Which hboot are you on?
I take it you can still get into recovery? Make a backup anyway, you can recover stuff afterwards in the event you have to full wipe.
I've personally never had any luck with Link2SD, with CM7 I recommend you are on cm7r2 hboot and use S2E or Darktremor for A2SD, use either to move apps and dalvik to sd-ext.
Just curious is it normal for android 5.0 to use so much dalvik cache mine is about 450mb I used titanium backup clear dalvik cache after restart android optimizing again at boot up.
Yes.
Even tho Lollipop is ART, it still caches the compiled apps in the dalvik cache folder.

Question, since lollipop is using art, is it bad or hurts it any to wipe dalvik? Haven't read enough about it I guess.
Wiping dalvik has borked Dompop a few times for me. Wiping cache has never been a problem though.
It kinda defeats the purpose ART now on and further down to road and still uses dalvik, discription change log says no more dalvik cache yet ART depending on dalvik. on kit kat my dalvik was always empty time time if I'd removed system apk then there would few mb's of left over data.
Aye its borked for a few people, suprisingly it hasnt for me... Takes alot longer for that 1st afterwords tho... Like, fresh clean install long LOL

I uninstalled Splendid with Titanium Backup by accident. I then tried to install it from the play store. It opens bit the colors don't change. How can I get this app working again?
uninstall it.Wipe cache in recovery. Then install it from playstore.Delete splendid's cache and data.uninstall splendid.wipe cache from recovery.install it again.better if you can wipe dalvik cache too.
Still not working.
Sorry,no other ideas
I guess it has an integrated module so your remaining bet would be reinstalling the rom or maybe factory default.
Reflash the system image.
When the 5.1 update arrives, will it reinstall the apps I uninstalled?
