im in beijing right now and when i went to d shop
they asked me which one do i want
the one from taiwan or hong kong?
whats d difference? sorry if its a noob question
is it like the iphone thingy back then? where the one from hong kong is officially unlocked? i dunno, just guessing
also, any advice what should i be checking?
coz d thing is, in china, its kinda flaky, sometimes they change parts and stuff, downgrade specs, etc
o yeah, one other thing
is desire d best smartphone from HTC, gsm wise
not talkin bout cdma version like evo4g and incredible

Would this phone work if it was imported to the UK? I was just wondering as my mate was thinking of buying the HD2. However when he saw this one he wanted it, but it isnt avalible in the UK yet D:
So my question is, if he imported it, would it work on UK networks?

No. All UK networks are 3G in speed, but fall back on the GSM type of radio transmission. The EVO is CDMA....not GSM....yes, I know that UMTS used as 3G in the UK and most of Europe is a type of CDMA system, but it's not used on the EVO. You're out of luck taking the EVO to the UK.

I am going to buy a Desire HD in the next day or two in Beijing. Some of the sellers are saying things like 'I have the xx version so its a bit more expensive' and according to my research I've found that there may be:
Taiwan version
Mainland Version
Hongkong Version
European Version
Asia Pacific Version
So my question is... Does it make any difference. Ive heard claims of difference is signal quality which would mean different radio hardware of some kind.
The other claim I've heard is that there are quality control differences between market versions.
Anyone got anything real on this?
There are only 2 versions of the DHD. One is the version of Telus, and the normal version that any1 else has. The telus version has some problems with sound on some custom roms, but there are fixes for it.
However, there are some differences between the normal dhds also. There are 2 different screens (sharp and au optronics) and 2 types of touch panels (synaptics and atmel). The only difference is that sharps screen is slightly better, but you nearly wouldn't notice the difference between those two displays.
You can flash any custom rom on the normal dhd, doesn't matter which display and touchpanel you have
maybe there are some differences with the signal quality, but this is related to the software and not to the hardware.
Normally all versions should have the same good (or bad) quality. A friend of mine bought his DHD at the same store where I bought mine, his has a blurry camera and a bad sim cover

I talked to a few sellers on taobao and the line they are all using is that you won't be able to get OTA updates if you have the european version and you live here in Asia. I told him that wasn't an issue for me and I bought a european version because they were selling it a few hundred RMB cheaper.
In the end I think its nothing more than a way to increase profit because based on the keyboard languages available I have an asia pacific version..

it sounded a little scary to me, but to make a long story short, except for Telus all DHD are virtually the same, with no hardware differences, i bought mine from singapore and it is exactly like my friend's one that was bought from UK.
you can consider Inspire 4G a DHD too, but it's other story! ehehehe

As HTC One X is not official in my country yet, there are some mobile shop sellers selling HTC One X for 500 euros. Yet, I have no clue where are they coming from, and the worse I don't know whether there is any difference between a German, Czech, Italian, French or whatsoever HTC One X...
As I am planning to buy one, I would appreciate your help.
If there is any difference, how can you tell for which country it is designated?

I believe there's not difference, other than the AC plug. But I'm interested on that 500€ deal... Is it legit? Where?
you would have different power plugs and would need the right adapter, and also OTA updates from HTC would come at different times.
firmware would be different I believe.
I know ones from Asia etc....have the asian RUU firmware and radios etc...I think thats how it works at least
I assume it is the RUU and Radio only, besides the plug... the seller told me that they have been imported from Dubai and I got a great deal... I am returning my used HD2, and getting a brand new One X for 350 EUR.

I just ordered my LTE Tab S which is on its way from Hong Kong so Im assuming a
Hong Kong version. The weird thing is there are no LTE models in South Korea
at the moment. So strange since there are a ton of Samsung shops here.
They must be sold out or something. A vendor ordered mine but its coming from HK.
I see a lot of useful info on here..roms..rooting etc.
Any advice regarding MUST have or do upgrades when I get it?
I want root..should I be going up to Lollipop?

Where did you buy it? If its a Hong Kong tablet then it will probably be unlocked and you'll be able flash whatever you want.
Yes its from hong kong and unlocked...jjst wondering what you guys are installing to get smoother and better performance?? Such as firmware and custom rom?
