i enable it under settings and it warns me about data usage and i click yes. it then stays ticked. i go out and back again and it's unticked itself
it doesn't update apart from manually. what am i doing wrong?

Nothing; mine does it too.

Anyone with a solution to this problem?

I had the same issue. Go to Settings > Accounts & sync. Just enable "Auto-sync".
This is kinda general sync parameter with which you can enable/disable sync in all auto-sync applications.

I think this may be something that is cured by the latest update 1.21.405.2.
Check out the changelog, and the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693511
Notably the part about about, "Fixed htc's weather widget (integrated into clock&weather widget) not knowing where you are (1.15.xxx just said the name of the country in some countries)."

Thanks, it is rectified

Calendar Crashes

My calendar crashes the phone when I open it. I had a update a few days ago and since then it's crashing, previously it worked fine.
If I uninstal the app how do I get it back again?

Hi
It seems the update has "created" a bug with the "weather framework"
If have traced this issue here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716075
Maybe a solution is to disable the "weather" display in the calendar
Other people have reported that this solved their problems with
the calendar.
Just give it a try.
You could also try to create a logcat and insert it here that
would help to "nail down" the issue.
Regards
max
What is "logcat"? I seem to have made some headway!
I cleared the data (there was no cache) a few times, this didnt help, it still crashed although not as quick.
I don't always have sync on but when I did this morning and let it sync-up the calendar worked fine. I still have the weather app sync with the calendar but I'll disable this if I have any more problems. For now it seems to work fine :good:

I have also had this problem with my girlfriend's HTC One V.
Whenever I try and get into the settings to disable the weather on the calendar it reboots. I've also tried turning off weather sync in 'Accounts & Sync' can I assume this is a software balls-up from HTC for all One V's?

Try the following
-start the Weather app and sync it once
-then start calendar and turn off weather in settings
-stop calendar
-stop weather app
-start calendar
And send an error report to HTC when it asks after a reboot. (if you have enabled it)
Maybe they will react faster if a lot of those reports arrive
Regards
max
I must have sent them about 10 reports
I synced up everything via the sync menu in settings, took ages but the calendar stopped crashing for me this way.
Solution to problem
Here's the fix;
Go to the dialpad (phone) and type in *#*#4636#*#*
Enter phone information and scroll to set preferred network type. It will usually be WCDMA Preferred as default
Specify GSM AUTO(PRL). Tap the home button. Then go to settings> apps> all> calendar> clear data.
Restart the handset.
Worked out with help from HTC Support
Hi, I also have this issue, i think this happened after the last system update. I tried the solution in the last answer but the issue still appear. Hope HTC soon fix this thing.

I have the same issue. Calendar doesn't sync and if I go into the App and change the view to Agenda it's a guaranteed crash.
I have this too
Hi there,
Seen a coupel of fixes for this, but nothing seems to work.
I tried this and it let me back into the calendar, but then rebooted.
Any further thoughts?

Hi,
almost went crazy when phone reboots trying to open the calendar. Since it's my second one after returning the first HTC One V because it went dead(QHSUSB_DLOAD). But these steps worked for me:
-start the Weather app and sync it once
-then start calendar and turn off weather in settings
For me it was enough just to turn off weather in calendar. For reference here is the full post. Thanks maxwen

[Q] JB 4.1 - Developer Options -> Stay Awake disabled?

I'm having a really bizarre problem where, even when Developer Options are toggled to On, the Stay Awake option is disabled.
Yesterday, I re-flashed the JB 4.1 rom (Team Vicious v1), and this fixed it, but this morning it became permanently disabled again.
My question is: where in the file system can I find where this flag is toggled? I'm thinking I can go and edit something like a build.props file to enable it manually. Anyone know what file controls Developer Option settings?
EDIT: Found a solution by installing the "Stay Awake" widget from the Play store. Even though the option is still disabled under Settings, I can see that it is checked now when I enable it through the widget.
EIDT2: Even though the widget checked the option, it does not work.
EDIT3: I've finally figured out the root cause of the problem - this is a new "security feature" with exchange accounts in JB. As soon as you accept the security protocol when creating an exchange account, Stay Awake becomes permanently disabled. I've heard mixed feedback on the email apk hack successfully working. So far there does not appear to be a workaround.

mordrukk,
First of all thank you a million for editing your OP and updating as you learned more, huge help! I'm definitely interested if you find more about this. I recently switched from using Touchdown on my device to corporate email and had my "stay awake" option disabled. It's extremely frustrating to be driving listening to music or whatnot and have the screen shut off on me.
I'm having a hard time finding info on the supposed email.apk hack to fix this. Any chance you can share what you know?
EDIT: Dug up the thread myself. I'm having mixed results. It does sync my account without requiring additional lockdown (past installing a client cert and requiring a pattern lock). I can confirm allow wake works now! However, since applying the patch I've had Exchange Services (Exchange2.apk) crash on me several times. This happened most frequently after first syncing the account. I'll re-update after a day or so of use.
The patch was a piece of cake to install (on a Mac). Just requires a bit of adb use.

I got the same problem after installing notes traveller ! One workaround it to install 'screen on ' from pinapps and set it to stay on when charging. It works.

[Q] How do I turn on auto-sunc for account/s?

On other android systems I can check on little boxes besides. But for Note 2 I could only touch to sync manually.
Why is the auto-sync always disabled?

I think what should be done is:
-Pull down your notification bar
-Slide the toggle panel all the way to the right
- touch the sync icon to enable or disable sync.

That sync button has disappeared with the new Multi-window update. So how do I enable autosync, now? All of my accounts simply say "sync disabled" and I can't figure out how to enable it again!

in my Note 2, i went to settings, display, and there is a Notofication panel.
tapped on it, and it displayed all the notification icons that i can enable when i do actually go to the notication screen or not
i dragged the sync icon the display portion of the notification row
closed app
then from the home screen, swiped my finger from top to the bottom of the screen, the sync button is there. In my case it was disabled, enabled and all is working fine
see if you have the same or not
TMobile did an update today. Changed the kernel and baseband versions. I also am missing the sync icon in the pull down menu and my accounts say sync disabled.
I also had that problem yesterday.
I fixed it with inzee suggestion.
I have the Verizon Note2 SCH-I605 and it does not have anyplace to Enable or disable SYNC. I also do not have any Notification settings under DISPLAY.. so I have no idea how to disable much less To Enable Syncs.

Im thinking this might have something to do with the 4.1.2 update. I suspect the ones that posted in this thread and were able to fix the problem did not have the newest update. Can anyone that has the newest 4.1.2 verify they still have the sync icon on the pull down page or either have a Notification Panel in the Display Settings where Icons can be added or removed? I dont.......... Anyone?
Workaround
I could not find a stock solution for the verizon note 2. I ended up adding a beautiful widget for that switch and it worked again.

I've just registered to thank you very much. This was the right answer to the problem:
AFTER updating the Galaxy Note 2 GT-7100 from Android 4.1 to 4.1.2 the Sync icon on the top bar disappeared (it was replaced by the "Multi-Window" icon). The Sync icon/tab was there before updating.
I spent many hours trying to find the way to get it back without luck until I did a research on the web (also spending many hours) and then I found your answer, which is correct: you can select which icon will appear on the top bar. I didn't know about that feature. You can even remove some and put others.
It shouldn't depend or be linked to any provider at all, it's part of the Android 4.1.2 O.S. (probably 4.1 too).
So thank you very much once again

Thank you for your response Drake. I was beginning to think it was just me. Apparently this is only the case with ATT I317 update as HDcam posted above he still has this option under Settings>Display>Notification after the 4.1.2 update on the 7100....... It must me a glitch in the ATT update, which doesnt surprise me. They are goofballs.

That's pretty bad indeed..
I didn't know a provider would modify such bascic O.S. options like these.
My Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-7100 was purchased without contract to any provider, and I downloaded the update directly using the Software Update icon in the Apps. (which in fact is a shortcut to Settings ->About this device -> Updates .-Sorry if the English translation is not 100% accurate) It was about 250 MB of download.

I didn't even think of that... I'm used to running custom ROMs where I just don't install stuff I don't need.
I'm running stock for a while to see what I "need" in a custom ROM (especially with regards to the S-Pen stuff) and to let stuff shake out on new device. So far my only real annoyance has been that the Samsung Contact App is auto linking contacts simply because they share enough info in common and I can't figure out how to disable that (without manually doing it when and if I find a contact that is linked).
Thanks!

Yeah, I think stock on this phone is fine. On the S4 it was kind of necessary to put a custom rom because the phone was so laggy, but the 800 on this phone just flies through everything.

[Q] No Facebook Notifications

Hey all. I'm trying to figure out why I'm not getting my Facebook Notifications. I have everything turned on for them in the app and in phone settings. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Any suggestions on a fix? Anyone else getting this? Thanks.
Go into Settings -> Sound and Notification -> "Apps" in notification sub section and see if facebook is in there if its not thats the reason, if its not there go into facebook and open the menu (hold the Square) -> Settings -> Notifications and check if they are all on, hopefully that should sort it
My settings are all correct, but I don't get any notifications either.. Although, this was the same issue as my G2.

It's fine even if Facebook updates on its own?
I'm not sure what you mean. Follow my steps, and see if it helps.
It is the phones fault. Both s6 and g4 have same issue. Push notifications rarely work due to aggressive sleep policies to save battery. Sucks.
Sent from my SM-G920T
What kind of notifications are we talking here?
Because I notice fb has a 1, or a 2 for a notification. But I don't actually get it on my phone, and the notification is really just some random person liking the top post on a group page. That isn't really considered a real notification so I'm glad for that, but it does still count as one or whatever according to the monkey developers at facebook. (Seriously that number beside the app activates my hidden OCD)
I'm able to get the real notifications (ie. comments). So I think it depends on what you're referring too here.
Right, I'm not getting "real notifications" when there are comments.
