Go there, step by step direction on rooting, it even has pictures for you!!

HELP!! i think i rooted and unrooted but no more recovery?

Hi guys so i got my phone it came with the ota update. i rooted the phone. then when i was trying out roms. i acedently said yes to the PC36img file.... and now when i try to access recovery i dont get a menu all i see is a picture of the phone and red arrows....
can anyone help me? i dont know if i need to re root cuz i still have super user inside adb :O
thanks in advance!!
just redo the part of your rooting guide where you flash a custom recovery. When you updated with the pc36img it replaced your recovery most likely...
...and hope you don't get your heart ripped out for posting this in the dev section lol

[Q] Rooted and upgrading firmware through Kies - good idea?

My GT-I9195 is rooted and I just received this popup in Kies that a firmware update is available. Now I know that OTA updates cannot be done because I've modified my device but it appears that Kies is giving me the option to update without such messages.

Has anyone done this? Is it dangerous? This is actually my first time considering an upgrade through Kies and I'm a little nervous how it'll go.
I upgraded under the same circumstances, only difference was that I'm on DBT firmware.
You'll have to re-root however after the firmware upgrade.

So the upgrade goes along nicely and you only lose root?
Yup, that was it for me.

Has there been a stagefright fix for LS980 running ZVG based firmware?

I'm seeing some firmwares appear which have stagefright fix for G2, but I have not seen any for specifically LS980. Has there been any, or is flashing cyanogen the only way?
A friend of mine told me that ls980 is getting the stagefright update, we just have to wait for the wave to hit us
I got it like two days ago but still have not installed it. Sprint.

I'm rooted. So wondering if I restore factory recovery (replace twrp temporarily so that I can install this) to apply this fix, will I loose root?
If you don't want to wait, there is a download link to the update file in the "what is LS980ZVH update??" thread. You can sideload it using adb.

YT9216c rooting help? !Reward!

hey everybody i recently got my hands on an android head unit from amazon
i have atatched some pictures of the devises "specs"
im really looking for help to root the head unit.
i have seen plenty of forums taking me to a russian forum where i think i found out i can root without flashing however all of there links are not good for the downloads
i would like to root the device without flashing if possible however if i have too i will.
i have seen lots of other people posting firmwares that are pre rooted , however they all seem to have different software from mine for example mine is yt9216c_AHD_00005_V004_20200804 but the firmwares i have found are yt9218 etc.. are these safe to flash i take it this means they will have a different version of android or does it mean something else?
if anyone can help me root this device i will happily pay a reward!

If you do lose root, it won't be because of the official firmware, other than waiting for Magisk to get updated whenever necessary. Since Magisk Canary was already updated for the P6P/P6 December firmware, this one shouldn't require any further changes in Magisk for it to work. Each of the following months, however, just wait until others report success. That's what I do unless I find I have the time and energy to be an early tester myself. Just read, read, read, and double-check everything you do.
