Hi
Is there any way to create the goldcard using linux? I don't have windows installed on any of my machines.
Any help would be appreciated.

yeah its easy follow all normal goldcard guides to get the goldcard.img file then just dd if=goldcard.img of=/dev/sd? ( be carefull you will need root )

[Q] help please? :)

ok i s-off'ed my phone when it was first relesed, have just updted to the newest version 1.80 and i cant for the life of me figure out how to put the n1 table on my phone i tried "You can also download the corresponding PB99IMG zipfile, put it on your sdcard, and rename it to PB99IMG.zip. Then start the phone in HBOOT mode (VolDown+POWER) to flash the HBOOT without a PC." <<<that but it says cid incorrect reboot or similar any help is much appreciated
also sorry if this has been asked before but i could not find the threads
That's sounds like you need a goldcard but I haven't tried the PB99IMG way.
Have you tried flashing it through fastboot?
I think that's the more reliable way to do it.

if im honest i cant get the sdk tools to fstboot flash it as it says i need java sdk when there already installed :S
Do you have a goldcard in your phone? If not, create one and try it again.
There's lots of posts about how to make a goldcard if you need them

you dont need the java sdk you need the jdk
eitherway fastboot doesnt require java to flash as its an executable from path using cmd so im wondering what you are doing to use it
is it the installer itself that is giving you an error?
have to tried the s-off all in one flasher?

i dont know how reliable the automated goldcard maker is but the guide i used for my DZ had me make the goldcard manually. I recommend hexeditor
have you done your goldcard with the hexeditor?
please help me.. ;(
Use the goldcard windows program to only patch the "image you get from the website" to SD card.
Reverse your CID yourself like this:
First learn your SDcards CID:
open an adb command line and type:
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid
it will give your sdcards non-reversed "cid"
than reverse that CID like this:
Original:
AB CD EF GH IJ
YOUR REVERSED CID:
IJ GH EF CD AB
and use that reversed CID you made to submit to the website to get the image file to your email.
Than patch that image file with a goldcard helper program.
I did this and it worked!
Thank me with the button below if yours worked too
Hi, I have the same problem with same Desire Z firmware. Have you been able to find a solution yet?
thx

what PB99IMG did you flash? are you branded?
i used this
PB99IMG_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_r elease_159811_signed.zip
i tried also every other pb99img i could find... but other din't work at all
should i have a goldcard or rooted phone?
i think i am not branded, but i am not shure ://
if you have your phone on contract with e.g.Orange, O2, Vodafone etc then you are branded.
With a branded phone you need a goldcard to flash an unbranded PB99IMG.
To create a goldcard follow this tutorial. Notice however you need to skip the part where they find the CID of the SD-Card using the phone, and use this tool instead, COPY DOWN THE CID WITHOUT ANY SPACES, COMMAS ETC. JUST LETTERS/NUMBERS. Then follow from the tutorial.
Once you have a goldcard try to use the same RUU you used (PB99IMG_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_r elease_159811_signed.zip)
I guess that is why this metod did't wokr ha? :/
i will try to make a goldcard tomorow...
THANKS!!

I tried milions of RUU's befor, but always the same. it shows me that i need more than 30% battery power. and i always had like... atleast 90%
I don't know what network i am on. its my friends phone.
and btw... i'm from slowenia
EDIT: sory for the second post... but i am realy starting to get gray hair... i just can't figure it out :/

you mean with the goldcard? yeah I said skip the part where they get the CID (and actually all of the parts where the phone is involved), just use the tool I sent you to get the CID, put your SD in an adapter and follow the tutorial

cause i don't have the adapter... do you think that would be a good idea??

go to the folder where you installed adb and note the file directory. If you're having problems there's a section on my guide that can help you out
in cmd type
Code:
cd #file directory#
then carry on with the instructions on the tutorial
i found the directory
and yes i go into the folder android sdk and into the map tools...
then i should type adb devices
but it saids that the adb isn't a comand

http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html download this and install this sdk cos i dunno what you did. then make the directory to wherever you install it. Remember to download platform tools from sdk manager.
no... still the same afte installing platform tools
should i install everything??
-android 4.0...
-and so on
perhaps because i have widows 7?
Did you also install USB drivers? Good tutorial for installing sdk can be found in my signature over adb / fastboot guide.

[Q] Goldcard without revskills for desire z?

any possibility to make goldcard without http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard ? it seems to be down
It usually goes down. Just wait.
Sent via smoke signal.
Yes there is, using skorgon's fantastic flashgc
all you need to do is run it without args, and it will create a goldcard image, and flash it to the sdcard.

Help. I'm having trouble understanding the instructions
Please help. I've downloaded the flashgc and not sure where to put this. I've been trying to root my htc legend for the past 8 hours and I have so many downloaded files I'm not sure where this should go. I've been trying 'platform-tools' in my sdk manager folder, is this correct?
I'm also having trouble understanding this "temp-root your phone and then do from a terminal / command window from within your platform-tools directory" how do i temp root and how do i open a terminal command window within a directory?
Any help would be appreciated. I've rooted phones before without much trouble but this is my first htc and its turning out to be a bit of a pain.
thank you
Goldcard Generator
Many people have missed the 'new' currently working site for generating Goldcard Images.
You just got to read your MCID (for instance with Goldcard-Tool http://www.chip.de/downloads/GoldCard-Tool_49005379.html) and paste the numbers in the field, if if starts with '00' it's a reversed CID.
Amazing how many people still need Goldcards, hope that helps a bit.

[Q] Rooting my Desire HD with "LINUX"

I'm not in the position to have a Windows machine available for (re)rooting my phone after a recovery failure. It's reset to stock now and I need to be able to root it again.
All I have available to me is a Linux machine (Xubuntu), which I can run to get on the web, etc, but I do not know the Linux commands.
I've gotten SDK installed on it, along with Java. I'm trying to follow HTC's guide to unlock the bootloader. Their instructions relate to Windows, so when they say to do this in a command prompt, I have no clue what to do:
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
Is there a root guide out there for the Desire HD written for Linux idiots? :silly:
Thanks.

Don't use HTCDEV. Use AAHK by attn1. Instructions (Linux and Windows) come with it, in the very detailed "effin manual." Links and instructions are in the PDF in post #7 of the "need help" link in my signature.

Yes. In particular you may want to create a Ubuntu boot CD and run (rather than install) Ubuntu from it - that way you don't have to mess about at all with your existing setup and it's pretty much fail-safe.
Thanks

Thanks, that was a very detailed "effin manual"... worked like a charm. Thankfully it's back to normal.
