Hi all. I hope you can offer some tips. I've been trying to flash my Touch Diamond today - followed all of the steps from the relevant thread to the letter - bootloader flashed fine, but radio and ROM have refused to. Progress bar appears on the screens of both PC and phone, but sticks at 0%, and after a few minutes times out with error 260 or 262, depending on whether I'm flashing the radio of ROM file.
Could this be a USB driver issue? I'm running Win7 on a netbook. ActiveSync is running. Have also tried swapping USB ports, as well as running the flasher as admin and in compatibility modes for WinXP SP2 and 3.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
just it's not unlock, and winXp better for avoid problems

by activesync you mean mobile device center, right? active sync won't install on Vista or Win7
also, after unlocking, hard-SPLing, MTTYing, and all the rest of it, flash from internal storage.

I am trying to upgrade from Ivan's ROM beta 13 to beta 15... Using the MAupgrade utility... however, everytime the utility resets the device to start the ROM update i get "USB device not recognised" from my PC and the update fails to start... eventually i get a connection error message.
This used to work just fine... however, recently i installed Activesync 4.5 Beta 2. Could this be causing the problem...? otherwise i'm not sure what else might be causing this...
I have also tried running the tool in bootloader mode with and without "USB connections allowed" ticked in Activesync but with no success...
Can anyone help me please?
Trying to clear registry before upgrading ?
Have you tried to clear registry before upgrading?
Hi Kassel, thanks for your response.
I have done a hard reset prior to upgrading... wouldn't that clear the registry?
If not please let me know what else i can do that might help.
Also, it seems very strange that i can't seem to do the ROM upgrade from bootloader mode.
I think i might be having a problem with GetDeviceData as it seems to stay in the "checking the information on your device... please wait" for forever when i try to upgrade from bootloader mode.
If it does come up, then the panel which says which version is on my device and which version it will be replaced by is blank?
This is not the case if i try to do it through activesync (with the device set up as guest).
What might get in the way of reading the device data? I made sure it went from serial to USB when i plugged the USB cable into the device and i have tried different cables...
My bootloader appears to be V1.00
hmmm... any thoughts?
Same here...
I also have the same problem.
I installed ActiveSync 4.2
Alse after having installed AS, the MTTY program doesn't see the USB port anymore, just some COM ports.
Same to me too
I have ActiveSync 4.5 bata at work (Which couln't upgrade ROM)
while my notebook with ActiveSync 4.2 work fine
Wow, it's great to hear that people are having the same problem...
Is it possible to back track with Activesync? Is 4.1 still available?
If not, i think i still have an older version running at home (i hope!)...
Is this definitely the issue then?

I have ActiveSync 4.5 and upgrading my Jasjar was successfully done with the ROM Version: (1.90.96 / 1.13.00 / 42.47.P8)
Sorry for not knowing, but is that one of the AKU3.2 ROMs. Not sure if it should make a difference, but just curious.
Also, did you need to use the MAupgrade Utility?
Cheers,
What happens with the USB drivers after installing ActiveSync 4.2
The strange thing is, that I tried connecting my MDA Pro to a PC without ActiveSync on board.
USB ports were visible using MTTY
I installed ActiveSync 4.2 and only COM ports are visible in MTTY, the USB port has vanished.
Can this be caused by the USB driver that comes with the ActiveSync install ?
If I put my device in bootloader mode, it sais USB on the PDA screen, but the utility for the ROM upgrade doesn't see the PDA and comes up with a device not connected error.
I would really like to try out one of the new ROM's by Ivan or JwRight, but am unable to, because of these USB problems.
So please someone help !!!!!!!!
I have the same problem... if i put the device into bootloader mode, "serial" changes to "USB" but the PC comes up with "device not recognized"...
ROM: Big Black ROM 1.3 from here.
Radio: 1.46.00.11
SO: Windows XPSP2
ActiveSync 4.5
I have this weird problem. I want to flash a new ROM, it doesn't matter which one.
When I ran ROMUpdateUtility, I click on next..next..and when is just about to flash and enter in bootloader mode, the connection with PC is lost, and it says in the bottom of the screen Serial, not USB.
Ok, so let's manually go on bootloader mode, and flash from there. Same error, it doesn't recognize the USB cable, it says Serial.
The ROMUpdateUtility gives error 260: Connection..check usb..
But it syncs through ActiveSync perfectly when I load WM, no errors received. I can copy in it, from it, with WM5 Storage or CardExport.
What to do?
What OS

I wish it was that simple. I did that, same error, different ROM's and I try with olipro 1.20, which gave the same error.
Another suggestion
Did you try with a different machine? Make sure that your firewall is not stopping connection.

Nope, I tried that, too.
The orange led which shows charging, it turns off in exact moment when the phone enters bootloader mode. It's very weird, as I said before, probably a soft problem. I'm going to play a little bit with ActiveSync versions. I'll take any advice from you guys. , don't hesitate to do that.
Problem solved. It was a hardware issue.
I looked closely to the miniUSB port and I noticed that a pin was missing, it was only 4 of them! But at a closer look, the fifth pin from the miniUSB port (when you look at the port with the screen up, from left to right) was moved from the his channel above the other pins in the back. So, with a needle and a little patience, I bring him back to his channel.
It's interesting the role of this pin, among other things, probably. Is responsible with syncing the phone with USB port in bootloader mode.
Me, very happy now.
Have done several upgrades with vista in the past. Had to format the hard drive and re-install vista. Old drivers that I dowloaded (wceusbsh.inf) will not work. Get a message problem with driver. Have tried re-downloading the driver and same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Now have gotten the drivers to load o.k. but still no luck in a connect to the device
After spending a couple of hours screwing with everything I could think to try, I have got the Hermes to update again.
# 1 After following Mr Vanx's directions for the Vista upgrade prosses
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27
# 2 DO NOT place the unit into bootloder mode, start the Windows Mobile device center (WMDC), plug the usb connection into the unit and wait for the WMDC to show connected, NOW you can run any of the RUU update files.
As Always Mr. Vanx is the man!
Bootloader Mode - Will it Erase Data
I have been having similar problems since I got a new computer that runs VISTA. I have tried everything, and the Device Manager, Portable devices has never given an indication my Mogul 6800 is present. I read the guide that captainrick747 referrs. I am concerned that going into Bootloader mode my system will lose all data and get reset to the original configuration. Should I be worried?
I hard-SPLled my device and unpreded ROM Miri v3.0 on it. After the upgrade the device could not connect to my PC via ActiveSync or Mobile Center.
I tried with several PCs, laptops and many cables.
It should be 'soft'ware, since the problem started after ROM upgrade.
So, I figured it was because of the ROM, so downgraded to official 6.1 ROM, but connecting is still not possible. The official ROM included bootloader, radio and OS, btw.
Now I am stuck with a device that cannot connect to any PC! I always get a message of an unknown device that connects, later on followed by a message of an unknown USB device.
And yes, tried to remove the speed-up of ActiveSync. Also tried as USB storage, but I get the unknown USB device all the time...
Please help, I don't know what to try now!
Try a different USB cable. Might be a good idea to buy a brand new one. They tend to go corrupt easily.

Have you tried using a differant usb port? I had to do that with a miri rom on my "old" Blackstone. I did have trouble with miri roms doing that on my Touch HD,for some strange reason.
You could also go to the threads in that forum and read what people have done to remedy that problem on the HD, as it should also work on our Tilt 2.
Later..............

try rebooting your pc, also try a different usb port on your comptuer and then try another usb cable. i have read somewere that some computers do not put out enough voltage on the usb ports, so this said, after you try the previous suggestions grab your cable and try another computer, after you install activesynce of course .
Thanks for thinking with me!
I tried several PCs, so, yes, different USB ports.
Also tried several cables that proved to be ok with other devices, including one ExtUSB cable.
Of cause resetted PCs before connecting and first installing ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Center (depending on OS: WinXP or Vista)
When connecting to USB connections that worked before now sometimes the Touch tells me there is insufficient power... That's strange too! It would mean the device needs more than 500mA in some cases (because it's the only device connection to the USB) - but this is on more USB ports of different computers!
So I tried everything qua hardware... Don't know what to do now.

Have you considered -- or tried -- flashing to a different ROM via the sd-card method? The method where you put the RHODIMG.nbh file in the root of your sd card (by removing card and using a card reader attached to PC), then put the TP2 in bootloader and it flashes the new ROM from the sd card...something like that?
I probably didn't describe this quite right -- I haven't done it myself -- but lots of people prefer this rom-flashing method. Find/check-out the procedure elsewhere on this forum.
If it works then maybe you'd get away from the problem-rom...if the rom is really the problem.
I need some help!
After days of tearing my hair out and swearing a lot, I have managed to get my i780 to connect to the PC (the data cable was at fault and kept causing 'unrecognised USB device' errors).
I have followed the official Samsung update, i.e. installed the modem drivers and then run the update. The update has worked fine on the PDA part of the phone, but has failed on the phone part and the phone just alternates between flight mode and invalid SIM.
I have tried to re-flash the phone with the same result, it failed on the phone part again. I have uninstalled and re-installed the modem drivers and WMDC (I'm using Vista) but the update will still not complete the phone part.
Is there any way to flash the phone part again so that it works?
Please help! I love the new threaded texts and the new opera browser and most of all the fact that wifi now works properly! For some reason the phone worked for an hour or so and now has stopped working.
Thanks,
A
Try to upgarde on from another PC. And dont forget to install Modem drivers before flashing.
I advice to upgarde onder XP or Win7.
Or try this if you already dont.
